Uber-talented musicians. They have so many great, epic songs. I recommend "The Wall", "Song for America", "Dust in the Wind", "Child of Innocence", "Icarus (Borne on Wings of Steel)", and "Crossfire".
Once again, another epic tune from the fabulous 70's. Man we were so fortunate to have been born in the 50's and raised in the 60's and 70's to witness the evolution of music.
Best reaction ever to one of the best Rock Anthems ever written or performed. Perfection! . I loved your play by play. You spoke truth about each component of the song.. Although they are one of my favorite groups ever I never got to see them live back in the day. So imagine my surprise when I first saw this video a few months ago watching reactions. I felt the same way that you're describing. That's what watching these reaction videos does for old folks like me. It lets us remember the experience of the first time that we ever heard these great songs..
I am a huge Kansas fan. The thing most people don't pay attention to is their lyrics that many times have double meanings. He Knew was another great song you should react to. Fell under the radar a bit but if you listen to those words -- wow, and it delivers the classic Kansas musical talent
we played the song down the road a whole lot at my collge parties in the mid 70's its from the second album i think on my 21st birhtday i saw muddy waters, kansas and the stones on the some girls tour at midnight i turned 21 -july 2, 1978 i had a good 21st! the guy with the hair plays violin on down the road and he can rock on the violin
I like these older vids... they are not actually live, so you get to see the band do their thing, and you still get the studio quality audio! Good stuff! (One way to tell is when you see the primary vocalist playing the keyboard and not singing while simultaneously hearing his voice...)
As a 50 yr old dude. Its so nice to see young people appreciating music from my time. I personally feel music was prime between 72-85 and has been in a death spiral since with some exceptions. Hey dunno if youve listened to much Beastie but would love if you did a few of their songs. P.S. Subscribed:)
This is a 70’s guitar rock standard. Here’s some great Kansas tunes (1 from each album): - Journey From Mariabronn - Down The Road - Icarus: Born On Wings of Steel - Magnum Opus - Sparks of the Tempest - A Glimpse if Home - Hold On - Diamonds and Pearls - Incident On A abridge - All I Wanted - Rainmaker - Black Fathom 4 - Icarus II - The Voyage of Eight Eighteen - The Absence of Presence There, that gives one song per album in chronological order. It’s hard to choose even one per album as they have so many amazing songs covering Prog, Ballads, Hard Rock, Orchestral, and roar house boogie. Enjoy!
Back in the day when this was hot for some reason Kansas NEVER played in Nebraska. I lived there so a buddy and I had to go to Red Rocks (Colorado/God's Cathedral). Very well worth the trip and a nice ride on a couple of Harleys with our girls. I've seen them since then with the new band members in Reno (Harrah's outdoor venue) Still killin' it. I still have this LP./Album.
I'm gonna do exactly as you suggested..tell you what Kansas song i know you're missing out on. I've listened to this song hundreds of times as a teen, and many times as an adult and it still amazes me. The song is Incomudro (Hymn to the Atman. It's a masterpiece of every instrument in their arsenal including a drum solo. The bass is sick and lead guitars seem to come out of nowhere. Incredible song! You'll love it! Peace!
As others will surely say- Dust in the Wind should be next. Then Point of No Return, The Wall, Fight Fire With Fire, Play the Game Tonight. They had a great combination of rock, classical, Prog. Ear candy to be sure!
I am happy to see Gringo Pines reaction earlier. In case anyone missed it,he said "the piano player does a handstand on top of the piano, while still playing". It was said that early in their career Kansas opened for Led Zeppelin on a tour . After several stops on the tour members of Zeppelin said Kansas was so tight they should of been headliner and Led Zeppelin should of opened for Kansas .
That really doesn’t sound like something members of Zeppelin would say. And certainly something that their manager, Peter Grant, would not have tolerated. One of reasons that Zeppelin stopped having opening bands after the first year or so.....Zeppelin had their own vibe they wanted to create, and the last thing they needed was an excellent band coming on first and creating a vibe for them to follow. And that’s NOT a put down of Zeppelin: They’re my favorite band. It’s just realistic....you don’t want a band who’s good enough to be a potential competitor going on before you
