Getting addicted to this work. May be a phase. But I think there's something of substance going on here. It does seem a little bit Carter wannabe. Struggling a little bit, however, to embrace his overall corpus and still find this somewhat derivative. That said, when a work is derivative of the greatest post WWII ultra modern composer, it says something rather positive about Manouty. His string quartets, whether they go officially by that dedignation are unsettling and leave me restless and anxious.
