Thanks. I've been trying to start my DC-8 all morning. 😂
Kidding aside, thanks for this video. I'm not going to be a pilot but learning never stops.

Gosh me too! There is something special about several JT3 engines being spooled up. It is a sound from a long passed era. The engines spool at different crescendos and new airliners just sound so different. I am glad I filmed these DC-8-62 engine sounds from many different perspectives during my time with ATI.

Now can you demonstrate a Cessna 150? That one is a little closer to my level.

Sorry that type is out of my interest area.

    Gear tins are still in.

Exactly .. as this was a live taxi and engine max power check so gear pins are kept in for maximum safety. They are only removed for flight not ground runs.

The first generation jetliners like the DC-8 as well the 707, Comet, Convair 880 and 990 and Vickers VC-10 all had the noisy and high fuel burning jet engines of the day, similar to the JT3 engines which power the DC-8-62, and most Boeing 707s. The smoke and noise was legendary for these airliner classics🤟🤟😀😀

Why the DC-8 was a pilots aircraft.

It is very cool! The engineer did a lot of stuff so the pilot could concentrate on flying.
