Thanks for sharing the review, Matt! Good news - the limitations you mentioned (lack of a filmstrip/additional Edit button tapping) will be addressed in the upcoming Pixelmator Photo 2.0 update. 🙌
The lack of local adjustments is what’s preventing me from jumping ship from adobe. I mainly use this for the repair tool, super Rez (When needed) and adjusting the levels.
The number 1 issue for me is the lack of local edit capabilities, like the brush or gradient tool in Lightroom. That’s a big shortcoming for me, so sadly I’m still using Lr to edit my work.
To be honest with you, unless you are doing professional corporate work (i.e. magazine cover, billboard, etc), this should be enough for 90% of people. I'm seeing Instagram or TikTok accounts with some people just using phones for their work and getting massive conversions to their business. Wedding photographers, too, the majority of them using a mirrorless camera, all take good photos already and working it on Pixelmator pro is the cheapest option. It has many tools that people already need, but for some migrating its not always easy.
@@cmdaltctr I have to disagree. I’ve been a weddings and life style photographer for over 15 years and masking / local editing is a tool I use at least a few times in every photo shoot. I don’t do corporate work, only social stuff. Cameras nowadays are fantastic, but they’re still unable to capture the whole range of light on some situations, like in broad daylight, sometimes you can work smart and avoid needing local editing, but very often I do need it, for me it’s a basic tool.
Thanks for the review. I had seen Pixelmator Photo before, but ignored it. I now see how it will improve my workflow productivity for some of the work I do.
Unfortunatelly adjustments and Vignette are basic or nonexistent. Some stuff is good, but also wish we can use external hd. Strip with info on each would be great. Lightroom is still ahead. Wven the AI is superb. Lets see how this can be developed futther
That's for the 1TB cloud storage option. The base plan is still $10. The douche move by Adobe is that they kind of don't show it to you, you have to google it and it is still there hidden on some separate page. I know because my friend made the same mistake.
@@fixitright9709 yeah I am still also paying $10. But it is true that they are quite blatantly hiding that plan even though it is available and you can subscribe to that plan.

This app is too awesome. You have to make this available for macOS!
I like to use pixelmator too in my Mac Book. It’s very easy to use. I recommended it 😎
6 months later, they actually addressed those problems
@Pixelmator Please bring this app to MacOS so we can all be liberated from Lightroom.
@@ps1kx Pixelmator pro do the same job on Mac OS

The lack of selective edits in most apps is whats making me come back to lightroom

So well done. Aside from making great content, gotta love how you made the shadowed PiP on the bottom right corner. Very good production.

What's the difference between Pixelmator Pro and Pixelmator Photo?
Great video, great walkthrough, and loved the set up so we could see what was going on while you were talking about it.
Will you be taking look at the desktop version which is about to be released and compare it to Lightroom desktop? Thanks.
4:55 I'm impressed
But could you mark out the carpet and replace it all with dog?
Adobe Lightroom Classic is irreplaceable! Absolutely superb!
Does this app sync with the desktop version Pixelmator Pro and is this an Apple app?
Pretty cool survey, thank YOU. Can you do RAW editing too with PixelMator. I myself use PixelMator Pro on my MAC. BR Evert
It will only open what Apple Photos can open, so sadly many RAW formats don't open, like Fuji compressed raw for example.
Hi, what, in your opinion, is a good desktop equivalent of Pixelmator Photo on the iPad. How about Pixelmator Pro. Something else? Thanks.
Thanks for the vid. Can i understand that you keep raw AND jpeg in Photos ?
How would you say it compares to Affinity?
Have Pixelmator fixed the issues you mentioned yet? - also do you know if it supports Compressed Fuji Raw files? - shame there’s no trial version!
8 months too late but it does not support compressed fuji raw, only uncompressed
@@normalrachael Yes, I found out the hard way after buying it! had to switch back to Lightroom
But how is it looking 3 years later?
Thank you🎉
Have you tried Affinity Photo?
Great video :) as of today its available on the Iphone :)
What is your thought on Darkroom?
Great videos
I hope they bring a mac version for the Apple Silicon models :)
They did

Omg thanks. Thanks just fout your channel
It's 20 bucks a month now as of April 2022 for Photoshop Lightroom combo

Pixelmator is a competitor of Photoshop and Affinity Photo. Not Lightroom.
bought this when it was 50% discounted today. Disappointed in the set of features on the Ipad and wish I hadn't bought it.
