It is all very tempting. I might pick up the Battle of the Bulge set to get started, but I am waiting for the US Marines and IJA boxed sets to really get into it. What I have seen thus far of both the US and the German armies is very nice indeed.
This is very similar to the existing Fallschirmjager starter set. The new starter sets seem to be replacements for the existing box sets which makes sense with the new edition.
Take my money 😂👌 Sold!, nah had my eye on these guys just waiting for a decent review to confirm my *needs* 😂 As per MG 07 sir! Good content mate Tres coolio
I'm tempted to pick up the bundle with the box and book, but I'm worried mixing fallschirmjager and heer will look weird, even if they're all winter. One squad of fallschirmjager in a mostly heer force isn't a problem. When I start mixing weapons teams and leadership, that's when the voice in my head tells me to hold on a minute.
Kampfgruppe? Germans in 1944 until the fall of the Reich were very good at Ad-hoc formations on what was locally available to force commanders to deal with allied advances.
The Winter Fallschirmjager bodies can work as any winter Germans since the winter reversible smocks they are modeled in was used by all German forces. You can easily put other heads on them and use them as Grenadiers or Luftwaffe Field Division or Volksgrenadiers or Waffen SS or literally anything! The only thing that they have that are Fallschirmjager specific are the helmets and FG-42s. (And you could even use a couple of FG-42s sprinkled in anyways in a very late war force just for fun to represent a battlefield pick up or scrounged weapon or as a sniper rifle.
Next year. I'm definitely going to be starting Bolt Action. And definitely considering getting these Paratroopers. I'm in need of cheap, quick army forces that don't cost me 3 kidneys.
I'm not convinced this is much better than the old Fallschrimjager starter. New box trades a medic for a flamethrower team and a 222 for the more meta Hanomag.
My only challenge is this would be superfluous to what I already acquired with Battle of Bulge. Also not sure how much more I can lean into all out winter Germans
I’m wanting to get into Bolt Action, but not necessarily the winter stuff. I see starters like Band Of Brothers, Island Assault, and A Gentleman’s War, but they aren’t on Warlord’s website anymore now that 3rd edition and Battle Of The Bulge took their place. I can still find them on other sites, but it begs the question: are these kits somehow obsolete in 3rd edition? Why would they take them down? Will we get other, non-winter starters as 3rd edition matures?
Played yesteray against a FRIEND with his new FRENCH Army. They are all Smoking Cigarets^^ The Pak 40 is a bit to expensive...but It's a tool! The 222 is a True Gentleman!
Those are some odd looking IJN SNLF Rikusentai........
BANZAI! Thank you so much for the Superthanks!
I don't mean to alarm you tiki, but I feel the pull of the IJA taking over me ;)

The best advert for bolt action, why must you tempt me so Mordian!

Thanks for the review!

Thanks for the feedback. Are you thinking of making the same type of analysis for the new US starter?

It's 4 good platoons straight off the bat.
And the officer is soooo Michael Caine from "The Eagle has Landed"

That's all well and good, but would they fill in as 40k Imperial Guard 😮😊😅

It's Marden Time !
Oh, and that is a damn fine box army.

The singel PAK 40 can make a problem, u will need a 2nd one to form a platoon. So a 2cm Flak or something like that would have been great in the box.
In an artillery platoon you just need 1 gun
@@paolothomson5883 Ah i see, i missed that. So than its nice. But a 20mm Flak would give it a nice touch, don't u think? 🪖
Does anyone know if warlord is coming out with other starter armies that are not based in the winter?
Can you build them as early war
🎉
Please add the subtitle, thx
FYI peeps, the 222 is NOT a nice and enjoyable easy build, it in fact is quite A$$!! Lol
Do you remember when this was a Guard channel, Huckleberry farm remembers
