    Thank you so much! Watching this video - I was totally able to get my single big Dell monitor working with my KVM switch and my two laptop workstations so that I know can switch back and forth between laptops and have the big Dell and small laptop monitor (so 2 monitors) for each workstation (sharing the big Dell back and forth via the switch). It takes about 15-20 seconds for the switch and the big Dell mon to figure out that the switch has occurred, but it works! Stoked! Totally set-up now with mouse, keyboard, headset, and monitor switching. Perfect!

    Brilliant video - thanks for the detail. I had tried to reset my KVM a few times (I have a 4 PC / 1 Monitor setup) but couldn't get all of the outputs to work, but of course I was using the wrong sequence. After restarting all PC's and THEN turning on the KVM, everything now works as it should. A simple fix, but had me boggled.

    Shutting down my Mac AND turning off/unplugging the KVM worked!!!
    DETAILS:
    All 3 of the USB ports weren't working when switched to my Mac. Windows was fine for whatever reason. Turning off/unplugging the KVM OR restarting my Mac did NOT fix it. Once I did both... viola! Fixed!

    Thanks for the tip about what to do when the hot keys stop working. It was weird. For some reason the scroll lock just stopped working and I completely forgot about ctrl being another hot key. Held in the yellow button and that solved it. Now another question. When I'm working on my work laptop keys will sometimes repeat but it doesn't happen when I'm working on my personal laptop. I have a logitech trackball with its receiver connected to an extension usb cable and a wired mechanical keyboard and I'm don't have software installed on either computer for the keyboard or trackball. Fortunately, it doesn't happen all the time. Any ideas of what I could try to alleviate this problem?
    Thanks,
    Scott

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trackballs are difficult for KVM's with emulation due to the tracking. You should try plugging the trackball into the KVM's USB port and see if that helps. If it's not that, then it has to be some software (somewhere) that's causing the repeating characters.

    Are there any limitations with the Alt key in the keyboard/mouse switching for Mode 2? I recently bought HDK0402A1U and alt key switching does not work. my keyboard just has left alt key.

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, only the right Alt key will allow you to switch mouse/keyboard while in Mode 2. The left Alt key is a different command key (in the eyes of the KVM's programming).

  • @MySydrah
    @MySydrah 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the tips. I now got everything works except the Passthrough mode. because of missing scroll Lock key, I used Right control which worked prefect; however, all the hot key works except the pass-through mode. in the manual, it says I can identify if KVM is in Keyboard and mouse pass through mode, by , after doing so, I can hear two beeps, but that's not true. it didn't let me pass through (I tried as instructed). Is there anything I missed?

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are getting a response with 2 beeps then the KVM is recognizing the hotkey commands and confirming passthrough is turned on. There could be an incompatibility with your specific keyboard, although that is pretty rare.

    So I am having the issue with my mouse and keyboard, they tend to disconnect quite frequently or the keyboard will stutter similar to what you were showing.
    The keyboard is a Logitech and the mouse is a Corsair.
    Based on your video, would you recommend I get a USB hub plugged into the USB2.0 port and plug both the mouse and keyboard into it?
    Note: both the mouse and keyboard are wired, not wireless

    Thanks for the video, i have the HKS0402A1U model and everything is working great except for the audio on my macbook pro 16" 2019, the audio output shows both Dell P2418D (as DisplayPort type, but the connection was made using the apple av adapter and a hdmi to usb-c cable) only the built-in macbook pro speakers generates audio, on my lenovo laptop everything works perfectly, just have to choose Dell P2418D and audio goes through my external speakers. Ok so I have upgraded my monitors and now have an issue that it works fine on PC1 (Windows Laptop) but when I switch from PC1 to PC2 (Windows 10 PC) I only get one monitor displaying, sometimes. So if I turn the KVM switch on and off while on PC2 the second monitor will turn on and stay on. I then go back to PC1 for a time and come back to PC2 and again only one monitor is working. I do have a spare DP port on my PC GFX I will try out but any other suggestions?
    Also I am getting a docking station for my laptop which is great but it has 2 DP connectors, no HDMI. So I need to get a DP to HDMI cable and you mentioned you have a recommended list, can you link to that or at least tell me a compatible cable brand in the UK? Thanks

    My LG monitor is stuck at 4k 30hz on both Mac and windows when using the kvm. It's not a cable, monitor or graphics card issue since I tested that they all work at 4k60hz without the KVM. I'm not using a docking station or HDMI/dp converters. What could be the issue here?

      Hi, if the monitor is out of the 4K proportions (3840x2160) the KVM won't be able to run at it's full capacity, it can also be possible that the monitor is set to run through 1.4 HDMI and not 2.0, check if your monitor has this display settings.

    Just bought the TESmart 2-way dual monitor KVM. Plugged in the USB receiver for my Logitech K800 keyboard and M510 mouse. Neither work, so I plugged in my corded mouse directly into the back in one of the "mouse" or "keyboard" USB slots and still nothing. Then I plugged the USB receiver into the USB 2.0 slot like the video explained. Still nothing, so I plugged my corded mouse into the USB 2.0 slot and still nothing. So I read the instructions and pressed the scroll lock button twice and then the F3 button and the unit beeped twice. This apparently means the unit is in "pass through" mode. I suspect this may be why my USB mouse and keyboard are not communicating with the unit. Problem is that the instructions mention that if the unit beeps once it is in emulation mode. Also, the blue lights to show online for the keyboard and mouse do not light up at all. Need to some help here.

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most likely you’re not making the USB connection from each computer to the KVM. The online lights indicate that an active USB has been made. This is how the data is transferred (video is through HDMI and Displayport). There’s a setup video in this series that will go over this. If you still need help after that, open a ticket and include a photo of the back of the KVM so we can see what’s going on.

    Will most dual monitor KVM's work for only 1 video input and one video output?
    I am using a video card: RTX 3060 Ventus 2X 12G OC.
    I have just one monitor with my new PC (Monitor: GIGABYTE GS32Q 31.5"). I intend to buy an identical monitor in a few months.
    The second PC is a dell laptop (Precision 3551).

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, lots of times. It's usually either the KVM doesn't have 2 video connections from each computer or there is an incorrect video adapter somewhere. The last possible reason could be using a desktop computer and mixing video outputs from your motherboard and a GPU. (Only a GPU video ports will work if you have a GPU plugged in.)

    Do you even need a monitor switcher? you can have multiple PC to conmnect, and I do, so it should switch and we can either manually switch input on the monitor, or with a few seconds the monitor should self switch. Right? So which KM switcher for 3-4 PCs with fast switching preferring with remote?

      You're correct that you can manually switch inputs on your monitor or rely on auto-switching features. However, if you prefer a more streamlined and efficient setup, a keyboard, video, and mouse (KVM) switcher could be a great solution.

    I have everything plugged in but I am getting no signal output on either of my monitor screens. The KVM shows computer one and two are hooked up but nothing is coming through the output. I’ve tried different monitors and HDMO cords and still show nothing

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  ปีที่แล้ว

      Typically that happens because of an adapter is not able to convert the signal. Electrical flows through the cable so the computer and KVM know that something is plugged in (i.e. the signal chain is complete) but there is an issue with the video translation. It could be that, or if you are using too long of HDMI cables or using HDMI extension cables. Best way is to open up a ticket with the seller and have them take a look at what you're working with. Attaching pics always helps.

    I finally got my audio working again after moving my setup to a new desk thanks to this video, thank you so much! I was so baffled how it could have been working one minute and then not the next and was ready to tear my hair out! I had no idea I had to select one of the monitors in order for the speaker to work since it seemed to do that on its own the first time. Can you please explain why that is? And I've noticed that if I don't use the speaker for a certain amount of time and then start a new video/song/etc. that the sound either comes from the laptop or monitor (can't tell which atm) for a split second before switching back to my speaker. I don't remember that happening before. Is that normal or is there a way to fix that? It's not a big deal, but I'm a perfectionist and I can't help it lol.

      The KVM transmits audio via video connection, if you have a external device plugged into the mini-jack the KVM will duplicate the audio signal from the HDMI input to the monitor and mini-jack out, to select the right audio output we try all outputs until one of them is the correct one.
      For the audio swapping to the monitor the only thing we can think of is making sure the connections are properly connected, you can try unplug and plug all the connections.

    When connecting the Desktop computer display to any of the ports except port 2 it doesn't work, it only works on port 2 on the KVM. If I use a adapter that plugs into the desktop computers DisplayPort then use the HDMI to plus into that adapter it works on all numbers on the KVM.
    For the laptop computer doesn't work at all on all the ports on the KVM. When I connect the laptop to the KVM (but on the KVM the number on the light is on another number) the screen of the laptop turns black which means it's detecting something then when I select the correct number on the KVM the laptop screen turns on, it's weird, the main monitor light turns green which means it's detecting something but then the monitor says "no HDMI input found".
    I tried unplugging the power cable of the KVM and turning it off many times but it doesn't help.
    I even tried swapping the HDMI cables around to see if the laptop would work but it doesn't.
    I also tried using a different monitor with different HDMI but no good.
    I purchased it from ebay, tesmart is the seller.
    The device I got is tesmart 4 kvm switch 1.

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you connecting the laptop via HDMI? Usually things like this are because of an adapter. If it is an adapter issue, there's an electrical connection because it can 'see' the monitor but the display information (EDID) isn't correct so they are talking a different language. Reach out to your Ebay seller for support. YT seems to delete back and forth comments on Channel for some reason.

    I have two issues. One is that I have two laptops and two monitors. All four are being recognised in each mode when I only want three laptops to be seen at each time. The fourth becomes a ghost and I don't have authorisation to remove.

    Im uising tesmart 4 Port Triple Monitor KVM Switch HDMI 4K60Hz with USB 3.0 Hub, Headset, Audio&Microphone 4x3 kvm HKS0403A1U-US No matter what method I use I still cant access mode 2 and mode 1 I only see one computer at a time. Everything seems to work except for those two very importatnt things.
    1). In mode 1 all monitors and computers are accessible but I can only see one monitor and one computer at a time. I don't see all 3 monitors showing each with a different computer like mode 1 does in manual.
    2). Again like in manual I'm not able to access mode 2 where I can alt alt between the three screens that would be available in mode 2.
    Ive been communicating with Tesmart support but havent received a fix. That feature being able to see three monitors at the same time and alt alt between them to use mouse and keyboard is why I purchased this product.
    Please help

      The hotkey command is probably set on the Right CTRL, if this is not the case the keyboard may not be compatible with a KVM environment.

    My Tesmart KVM (model: HKS0401B2U) constantly lights up the display. In other words: the monitor does not go to sleep and the backlight is still on even when all computers connected to KVM are turned off.
    When the same monitor is directly connected to my computer (i.e. with no KVM in between) the monitor goes to sleep with no problems, so I can be sure that this problem is not related to my monitor itself.
    Anybody faced such problem and know the solution for it?

    i have, probably, older or even fake device, because i have Tesla Smart over my case. not TESmart as you. or it is correct device, but just old brandname? i have 2 ports for 2 computers and 1 port hdmi for monitor. i am plug android box - it works fine, i mean hmdi signal, but PC dont want to work. didnt see signal from it and monitor have black screen, when PC is enabled. but it is ok... because i am test this device with newer PC, than my and it work fine - enable monitor as it should be. so i just plug android box with hdmi and PC with old VGA and switch by two buttons - over KVM Switcher button and monitor menu button. but main problem is mouse! when KVM Switcher is enabled - mouse can move coursor, but buttons didnt work at all. but if i am plug out from USB this mouse and plug back - it start work fine. all my new mouses work like this and only one old mouse work fine. buttons work from beginning without problem. can it be because not enough power for this devices? i have only mouse and keyboard. no any hard drive or something. now keyboard work not very well too - lamps of num lock or caps lock or scroll lock didnt changes. now only num lock is enabled, no matter how many times i am press this buttons - caps, scroll or num.

      Hi Terega, Tesla-smart was the first generation devices to be launched, so they are really old compared to the newest KVMs in terms of compatibilities, you might face a lot of issues because of it. We recommend you to upgrade or process a replacement.

  • @andrewallbright

    This video is recommending to uninstall iCUE? What on earth is the KVM doing other than just piping the keyboard and mouse input streams to the current device... This seems like a product design flaw.

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the keyboard software interfere with the keyboard an mouse functionalities because of the IR interface software within the KVM, its a very common issue on the KVM environment and specially with the Corsair keyboards since they don't support KVM switches with either it's hardware or ICUE.

    • @andrewallbright
      @andrewallbright ปีที่แล้ว

      @@avicotech-us I thought I responded in this thread saying I bought a different KVM. It must not have sent? The different KVM uses USB3.0 and I think the thicker "pipe" helps with the weird input glitches TESmart KVMs experience. Or maybe they programmed their input stream processing better.
      I still think there's a product design flaw with the way TESmart KVMs process input stream, which explains repeating keys/lost input. Not sure what the program(s) are doing when receiving input streams as it seems that hotkey matching is not enough to cause keyboard issues. There's probably a poorly optimized program causing trouble if I were to guess.
      The work around is to ensure the keyboard is using the USB 2.0 input instead of the dedicated keyboard/mouse ports. That way the input stream processing program(s) don't start glitching out the user's keyboard input.
