Highlights vs. Detroit Tigers (9.17.22)

- The Chicago White Sox pulled out some extra-inning heroics as they beat the Detroit Tigers by a score of 4-3 at Comerica Park during a picture-perfect evening.
White Sox starting pitcher Davis Martin and Tigers pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez both threw gems into the 6th inning. Martin was stellar on the mound, going 6.0 innings with only 3 hits and 5 strikeouts.
The first run of the game would come in the bottom of the 6th on a line drive from Victor Reyes. The White Sox didn’t wait long to answer back as AJ Pollock knocked an RBI double to put the Sox up 2-1 in the top of the 7th.
A back-and-forth battle continued as Riley Green knocked in a ground-out RBI and tied the game up. Into extra-innings they went!
The White Sox were able to take the lead, making it 4-2 in the top of the 11th on a Yoán Moncada RBI single and a Eloy Jiménez sac-fly RBI.
Although, the Tigers didn’t go away quietly as Javier Báez, who didn’t play up until his at-bat hit a line drive to right field to score Akil Baddoo, making it 4-3.
The Sox bullpen was superior. Joe Kelly fanned 2 Tigers. Kendall Graveman, Reynaldo López, Liam Hendriks each struck out 1. Aaron Bummer held his ground, and finished the 11th, giving the Sox a much needed win in a tight American League Central pennant race.

The Sox put themselves in the position that they're in. On paper, they are a superior team as opposed to Cleveland, but Cleveland is going to take the Central.
Make no mistake, this season is a huge disappointment. The Sox had deep playoff aspirations, and when they don't make the playoffs, they will have absolutely no one to blame but themselves.
It's a dumpster fire of a season.

Doing it the hard way, Sox.
Cleveland won both ends of a double-header yesterday. Their magic number is 13, and they have a 4.5 game lead on the Sox. Can the Sox catch and pass Cleveland? Yes, but it is a long shot. The Guardians are playing great ball right now, and they have the opportunity to put the division out of reach against the Sox this week. I'm hoping for a Sox sweep of the series, but I would not bet on it.
Hopefully the Sox will not take five months to put it all together next season. I think the short spring training may have hurt them, but other clubs also had a short spring. So that's no excuse.

The Sox hitting has been a huge problem along with the late inning pitchers that give up good leads, Bummer should only be used if there's no players left to call up in the minors. Sox looked like the Cubs giving games away all year, yuck!!!
Did you forget that bummers been one of the best relievers in the league the last four years and is coming off a long term injury?

Bummer doesn’t suck. Elvis should replace Anderson yes. Trade Tim in the off-season for a dominant pitcher or something. Resign Rodon if he opts out. Sign de grom idc wat it takes. Even tho that’s unlikely. Keep pollack sign a lefty right fielder mayb conforto…and get a solid second baseman. Grandal shuld go not sure on his contract, but if we cld get Wilson Contreras? Somehow that’d b ideal. But more lefty’s…and hopefully w the way yo yo is playing by next year he ll b an all star….abreu can stay but Vaughn and sheets will continue to develop sooo idk….still too early to think toooooooo much about the off-season. Hopefully jerry realizes and actually spends some cash.
