Yeah, and if Alonso could wake up in a Big Way, he would be the built in Cespedes. Getting Senga back would be the Bonanza / Catapult toward that End! Imagine if Alonso could do something besides striking out and Alvarez could start hitting again. They're going to need to show up if the Mets are gonna go anywhere.
I'm ok as long as Alonso doesn't make an out once on the bases. Dude was just lost in the 6th inning.
I mean, sure it would be great if Alonso was hitting .275 rather than .240 but he still has 31 Hrs and 78 RBIs. Alvarez just hasn’t been able to get back into last season’s form since tearing that ligament in his thumb and having surgery which caused him to miss 2 1/2 months this year. After hitting 25 homers last year as a rookie I think we all expected similar if not better numbers but he still brings a ton of energy to the team. Thank God for Vientos this year, putting up unreal numbers after solidifying his position as the starting 3rd basemen. He’s hitting .290, 24Hrs, 62RBIs in just 91 games. All that matters is the Mets keep winning and make the playoffs and then hopefully everybody mentioned above gets hot in the postseason especially Alvarez and Alonso.

@@ant5355 Yeah, but when we have the bases loaded with no outs and he continues to strike out, who cares when he hits a solo home run when we're down 5 runs in the 8th. He's gonna want bank with his new contract so he needs to step up and give a Lindor a run for the team leader.

There is no way Ohtani has been more important to the Dodgers than Lindor has been to the Mets. Absolutely stellar defense to go with great hitting. And he plays EVERY GAME in the field.
Ohtani joined a 100 win team and they’re on pace to get worse lol, couldn’t be my MVP
Name a Met who is close to Freeman or Betts. To me, Lindor is clearly the MVP. Hope he has a strong September to really make the voting difficult.

Mets did the one thing I wasn’t expecting this year, care about baseball again
I think this Met run, hell the whole month of August into now, we should be celebrating the surprising stability of our starting pitching and the often resilient bullpen. The hitting is way to streaky for the pay grade, regardless, most nights we've stayed close enough to win with mound control. The team isn't in the baseball zen needed for a deep playoff run but from the rubber there's still been some really gutsy innings in these dog days. LGM. WAKE THOSE BATS, GRIMACE!
Tbh, I think they’ve exceeded every ex expectation we had or at least I had for them coming into this year after finishing 75-87 last year, playing under first year Mendoza, while having hardly any notable off-season acquisitions. I mean since June 1st the Mets are tied with the Dbacks for the best record in MLB at 54-31. (Although I’m not expecting them to win the Pennant) if they can just keep this going and make the postseason, literally anything is possible. 🤷🏻♂️🤞

@@roncotton7963 Vientos is destroying left-handed pitching this year - hitting .346 with a 1.016 OPS. His run means nothing with a runner already in scoring position, might as well have put him on and went for the double play with Alonso, who is historically not great in the clutch. Less hindsight and more poor management if you ask me

Wow Mark Vientos. Was not really impressed with him last year and most of this year. Always seemed to have a poor attitude, not wanting to pay his due. Man has he come alive these last 6 weeks. Our pitching staff is absolutely 🔥 ⚾️ #LFGM
Total nonsense post. He wasn't ready last year. And he's been fire since he was recalled in May. And I have never seen or heard anything bad about his attitude.
He got jerked around by Buck last year and in Buck's dog house for some reason. I liked Buck, but he insisted on playing Baty and Vogelbach consistently though both were terrible and sporadically pinch hitting Vientos who needed ABs.

I was there; there was like a quarter of that number when the game started. Very surprised on a Friday night September game with play off implications. US Open same time, not sure that siphoned off fans or not 🤷♂🤷♂
@@QuicknStraight Yea, I was at the game Wednesday night and the train was women dressed in tennis outfits clinging onto their men. Even without full attendance though, it sure does get loud and it's still super exciting!! I'd say most of the empty seats are way out in the nose bleeder sections of outfield, so people are paying the extra money for better seats.

It wasn't down the middle the ball was breaking inside and he made adjustments.
Wasn't down the middle; he might have wanted it another inch or 2 inside; but that's what happens when a batter battles and makes the pitcher throw 8 pitches in an at bat.
