How to change an immersion heater!

- This is a full asmr pov video of me changing an immersion heater in a hot water cylinder.
This immersion was right and didn’t want to come out so I used my normal method of using a big pair of grips on the end of the immersion spanner to get max leverage!
Try to undo the immersion with the cylinder as full as you can as this will reduce the risk of splitting the tank!
Simply de wire and fit the new heating element with plenty of jointing compound on it! Boss white, jetlube, slictite all good here!
Connect the wires in the correct place and test! The most important thing to make you stand out from a sparky is to remember to tidy up!🤣👍

In this day and age why hasn't someone invented a quick change immersion heater, this practice is so out of date.

I always loosen the emersion heater first a little and then drain down the tank a little on top. Easier to open it and a little knock with a hammer would help it too 🤓
Also I religiously change the drain valve black washer just incase it's old and brittle so it would not leak when I fill up the tank 🙂

What was that pump doing on the hot outlet? Didn’t look like a bronze pump and not a shower pump.
Secondary hot but they fitted a normal pump 🤣 it’s lasted 5 years makes me wonder why they make us pay over £300 for a bronze

Lol, I love your vids mate but that's gotta be the easiest immersion removal I've ever see. I mostly get called to 50 year old cylinders were you litter all have to burn out the old paste to get the bugger free!! Isn't nice when you have plenty of space to work!
A little bit of extra pointing compound won't do any harm lol better safe than sorry.

What’s that Grundfos pump doing on the outlet, doesn’t look like a bronze pump according to the colour (mustard for bronze)

Only only 2 think I do different is I always put heat on the immersion and I always change the drain off washer

You don't need plumber's mate on the gasket mate😮
This is jointing compound
Don't need joint compound it softens the gasket and combination of heat and water rots
I always paste ( jet blue jointing compound) any fibre washers, always weep otherwise.
Why drain it
Just put large towel or cloth around immersion to catch small amount
Fair enough but always good to have on just in case the cold feed is passing
