Probably the best song Molly Tuttle has sung! Amazing! She is a great artist, and I love all of her work, but can't stop listening to this song. Wish the bluegrass station's would play it
Ms. Molly you have channeled the late great Robert Hunter and your guitar playing and singing are so true to the joy of the Dead. Thank you for your fine playing and singing. Us old guys who grew old with Bobby and Jerry feel you can take up the mantle.
I have watched this video now 3 separate times and each time she gets to the part about sitting on a porch in San Francisco and she starts to beam the tears just fall - look for it right around 3:35 - kills me every time!
She did a fantastic job! One of the coolest Dead moments I experienced was seeing them play this in Memphis in ‘95. Jerry got to “somewhere in San Francisco “ and pointed to a guy about 10 rows back standing in his chair like he saw an old friend in the audience that he recognized.
I just read all the comments on this song and agree with you all, this is so absolutely awesome I wish I could make the WHOLE world watch Molly I'm pretty sure the world would be a better place afterwards
Beautiful, Molly! You have the perfect, emotive, voice and inflection for this tune that demands it! That key change on the last verse is sweet! Forever Grateful!!
they tell us there is no sound detected on the surface of the moon, but what i hear is a tune beloved of standing on the moon..maybe but a memory; an echo sweet and true..wistful in its lingering..i heard it once, did you?...
Not sure why there aren't way more views of this superlative performance of a great, and under-appreciated Dead classic. Hats off to you, Molly. I have been a fan for a while, but I keep discovering more of your gems...Please get yourself up here to Canada when all this craziness is over :)
@@chad3073 Seriously? So the dozens of videos I've watched of the Dead doing this song were all make-believe? How truly sad that your arrogance and ignorance are so pervasive that you deem it necessary to nitpick about something so inconsequential. It doesn't change my comment about Molly's performance whatsoever and really just makes you look like a real dick.....
@@chad3073 Did that give you a little boner trying to correct me Chad? Garcia or Dead....Who cares? It was a staple of the Dead's live shows. Or will you try and correct me on that one as well? FFS.
I never found and covers of the Dead that compared to the originals, until Molly Tuttle and Billy Spring took up the playbook. Jerry would have loved to play with either or both of these amazing talents.
Just an awesome performance. But how about a hand to the guitar tone--not only some excellent, subtle playing but the sound through a mic is beautiful. You just can't sound like this through a piezo pickup and Molly knows it. Thanks Molly!
You are to blame. Jerry tried to tell us 30 years ago. You get what you sow. 238,855 miles. Talk is indeed cheap. Somewhere in central Jersey, on a back porch in July, iced tea with Juneanne, I 'd rather be with you.
Damming by faint praise is when you throw shade at someone by praising them for a worthless accomplishment. I'm half joking of coarse, but Mollie singing and playing this better than John Mayer is certainly faint praise.
@@JackCerro I do not mean to say that she is better than John Mayer. But when it comes to singing this song, I do believe she’s better. I’ve watched Mayer sing it with dead and co. and it’s not impressive. Bob weir also can’t sing this song. But I think she does it good

Jesus Christ. This song was beautiful when Jerry sung it. Molly takes it to a new level.
She's an Angel !! I ❤ Molly Tuttle her singing and playing is unmatched straight from the Heart !!
One of the best Dead songs ever written ... Molly, you did it justice. I got the same goose bumps from your rendition as I do when Jerry sings it.
Me too
It's made me cry
Second only to So Many Roads.
My favorite rendition of this song ever. Big dead fan here but Molly adds an element that almost brings tears to my eyes.❤
She made it all her own yet true to Jerry as well. No small feat.
Tears of joy. Just beautiful.
Beautiful , the Grateful Dead will live forever
"Standing on the moon
With nothing else to do
A lovely view of heaven
But I'd rather be with you"
It happens to us all. Stay Grateful!

She modulates the last verse and plays it in a different key. That modulation is so effing sweet
What a beautiful song and voice...Enchanted!
Well, that made me cry. Magnificent ❤
Wow, Molly Tuttle singing and playing Standing on the Moon. She's so talented and so very special.......
Breathtaking!

Nothing like a good morning cry. Beautiful
Never cried like that--Holy cow!
Just fills me with emotion. Thank you for this Molly Tuttle, YOU are a blessing!
Bless Molly for reprising some of the music from the past that the world still needs to hear.
I heard Garcia sing this song a dozen times and Molly's version stands proudly with his.
Agree
Oh....this is sooooo sweet. Thank you Molly. I love this song and you did it so well.
Jerry would love this.
Absolutely astonishing. Flattens me with her talent. She makes a beautiful song and guitar come alive. Molly is an absolute treasure.
She owned that song. Powerful stuff...
Thanks, Molly. Very pretty. RIP, Mr. Garcia.

Not enough superlatives in my vocabulary for this performance. Molly smashes it.

Hunter and Garcia crafted some evocative jewels.
Glorious performance.
I agree The big man is definitely proud
The music is alive.
What a delightful singer singing a beautiful song
So friggin beautifully sung and played
Beautiful version of a great song
Absolutely stunning, beautiful cover. Thank you for keeping the Music alive, Molly!
Excellent cover of a classic tune. Thanks for sharing !
Incredible

Can you imagine sharing a home with this sweetheart of a woman?
Nope not a simp

Just beautiful … ❤
Wow, I have lived.
Just a lovely interpretation Molly!
Holy shit
Fantastic!
"A lovely view of heaven but I'd rather be with you" We wish you were here still too Jerry.
Oh my. Molly.

Hi Molly Angel- l love you sweet lady! 🙂❤️⭐️💋🥰🔥🕊🦋
This rules.
YES
you owned it
If you don’t feel any emotions from this you’re soulless.
Be with u
Bravo
Sweet.
sweet
I like this better than the Dead’s
The question isn't who she can hang with but who can hang with her playing.
Reminds me of John Renborn in how tasteful and on time her playing is.
Garcia-Hunter-Tuttle.
All from Palo Alto.
Molly I just want to tell you - Jerry would have absolutely LOVED to play with you! You guys didn't quite synch up this time....
Jerry is smiling!
"Standing on the Moon" seems an appropriate anti-war song for this Saturday's Hunters' Moon, Oct 28 2023.😥
Jesus.
that was a 10

All it would ever need. I don't like acoustics plugged in to an amp. Doesn't sound right.

way better than john mayer

Did flub for Jer😂
Tucker is not combative with his guests that I have seen
All the things Gen Z can't do and Hillary Clinton says "It's working!"
Too fast on the tempo. It's a slow song- slooow.
Fantastic!
Yes!
