- In this video, I'll be showing you how to replace the laser on your Pioneer CDJ-500s. If you've been experiencing issues with your player not reading CDs or skipping tracks, it's likely that the laser has gone bad. Fortunately, replacing it is a relatively straightforward process that you can do yourself with a few basic tools.
First, I'll walk you through the process of opening up your CDJ-500s to access the laser. I'll show you the different components of the player and point out where you need to be careful to avoid damaging anything.
Next, I'll demonstrate how to remove the old laser and install the new one. I'll go over the different parts of the laser assembly and show you how to disconnect and reconnect the wiring.
Finally, I'll test out the new laser and show you how to reassemble the CDJ-500s. By the end of this video, you'll have a fully functional player that's ready to use again.
If you're a DJ or just a music enthusiast who loves the Pioneer CDJ-500s, this video is a must-watch. Follow along with me and learn how to fix your faulty laser today!
Regarding the laser: DWY-1067 can be replaced without a problem with DWY-1069 (i think that's just a newer revision since all SMD components are the same).

These CDJs are worth saving. They sound very good to me... Thank you for the video!
I agree, i’ve been buying old broken players for cheap last couple of years (building a small collection of a hardware i couldn’t afford when it came out)
Hi MTS thanks for the video it has given me an idea, of what to do. I have a 500S in very good condition but it has not been used for nearly 15 years, it was stored in a closet. I am having problems with the audio, it plays but it constantly skips a few seconds all the time. I suppose it can be the lens....but i have checked it and its extremely clean. Regards from Mallorca.
Does the lens you install undergone in calibration
Or it is just a plug and play
Plug ‘n play
@@MTS_IT My cdjs are from 2001 and have been through all kinds of shenanigans from indoor parties to forest raves and festivals. About 15 years ago I took my cdj to a repair shop, if I remeber correctly they charged over 200€ to change the laser. It is still working though, now I have to change the other one if I can find the part.
Thanks for the instructions!
Few moments later: Adjusted the diode amplitude screw a little less than quarter turn and it started to spin. Nice!
Do you still calibrate the lens
Or just you install it and automatically play
Just install and play
@ tnx for the response
Your video is a big help🫡
can you give me a link sir?. where i can buy a spare of laser lens?
here's a link from ebay: www.ebay.com/itm/312361913478 (i'm not affiliated with them, also, since there are no more original lasers - one you get might be faulty (first one i got was faulty))
Can you tell me where you got the laser unit dwy 1069? I got a 500s too for cheap.😊
I got mine on ebay
