Maki's response was quite endearing and surprisingly respectful considering her gimmick.
Well she wasn't in character though.
She was probably taking a dump on a picture of Jim. She is the Poo-and-Piss Queen after all!!!
I actually really enjoyed her response 😆
She thinks he's shy lol.
She's kind of goofy but also kind of adorable.
She deals with Cornette better than 99% of the wrestlers.
it’s cause she’s not a mark 😂
This should be a sitcom: A 60 year old man from Kentucky falls in love with a 20 year old former Jpop idol turned wrestler. Call it The Young and The Cornette.
Mama San's Boy
I'd pay to see this show
Maki & James E?
Young folks won’t get this at all lmao
Swerve: He wins her heart in season 1, but in season 2, they find out they're cousins. Does their love survive???
Cornette doesn't really hate Vince Russo, he actually loves him, he's just shy LOL
he is shy when he thinks about Kevin Dunn too
JC is extremely bashful when Tim Horner comes to town.
The booking behind this ship makes no sense haha...unless? 😳
@@ithinkaboutthings9052 let me beeee ahhnest witchu bro!
So your just saying he would shyly beat him like a drum with his tennis racket if he were ever to see him again, I could see that.
She killed Cornette with kindness. That was such a soft comeback from him lol.
Well at least she's honest is what I'll give her.
It's hard to insult someone well when they've just made you laugh lol
Tsundere Jim Cornette
That hows you do it. Literally learned with my own crazy mom.
I work with a lot of very hostile coworkers and it definitely works. They just don't know how to respond
“Jim Cornette hates me” needs to be clipped and put on his sound board.
Yes! LMAO
Was thinking the same thing
International recognition 🏅
It should b part of her ring attire
Like Kevin Steen Song
"Absence makes the heart grow fonder. The more she's gone the more I like her" 🤣🤣🤣
It's like a year without seeing her wrestle is a year he hasn't seen a bad match, so classic.
She seems nice and you can tell Jim's warming up to her he wasn't particularly harsh he made a light-hearted joke and that was it I think the fact that she has a sense of humor made Jim respect her a bit more
Jim can respect people with tough skin!
Yeah, you can tell Jim felt a little bad listening to that, lol.
@@mr_aejis if Wikipedia is to be believed, it seems she was subjected to really creepy beauty standards
Never was harsh on her, but Riho on the other hand, thats a whole different chapter 😆
This is my favourite odd-pairing that’s never going to happen but for some reason I want it to
Cue the odd couple theme!
I need them together more than I wanted Randy and Riddle!
Omg Tony Khan make it happen please
Oh God if Itoh-chan did a feud in AEW and the lights went out and they came back on and Cornette was standing over her prone opponent with a tennis racquet...I would mark out so hard it would end this universe.
Maki Itoh managed by Jim Cornette would be gold.
He'd Turn her into a serious heel.
@@hurricanehaze6621 him turn her into a killer would be amazing. The Midnight Empress 😂👸

"Jim Cornette Hates me" should be the next T-shirt.
Think the Bucks have that trademarked already
How has this not been a thing yet
I’d cop 20
@@mahakalavanilla6263 also i think Twinkletoes McFingerbang has a hand in that trademark too...and Theyre the Hardly Boyz...
@@BLoafX Because Portia Perez beat him to it.
Not even Jim with a 1000 years worth of hatred inside him could bite back at that response 🤣
How could you not like Maki? Now the idea of Jim managing her is awesome and hilarious.
Oh my God. I would spend money on that.
The segment where she was doing her song while her team was involved in a huge pre-match brawl was great and I will die on that hill. She just kept singing, completely oblivious even as combatants are spilling up the ramp.
Bruh...that wasn't even the best part. Shida (who was the AEW Women's Champion at the time) having a kendo stick x crutch fight with Reba, Shida choking herself with said kendo stick because Vickie Guerrero let go too soon, then getting beat up and laughed at by Vickie Guerrero and Reba. To top if off Maki Itoh hit her with the softest mic shots of all time.
"I drink the tears of those that hate me" - Jim Cornette
Had the term "tsundere" entered the proceedings I probably would have shit myself with laughter!
She should have said it lol
The manga is strong in this commenter☺️
@@ithinkaboutthings9052 basically a female who likes someone but also hates them at the same time. Treats guy like shit but then falls in love with him than hates herself for it.Classic stereotype in Manga and anime for certain females. Best example is in Neon Genesis Evangelion with Aska Langleys character she is basically the archetype for it.
@@anubis8181 Well you could also point out that the term isn't gender-exclusive. There can be male tsunderes as well, it's just more prominent with female characters. Lol
@@ithinkaboutthings9052 I think some clarification is in order. Tsundere in general refers to a character that feels one way but acts differently. It's not female or male-exclusive, as both male and female characters can be tsundere. The word comes from the onomatopoeias tsuntsun (which can mean "aloof" or "standoffish") and deredere (which can mean "lovestruck" or "fawning").
As Chills and Bones said, they are often characters that are in love with someone but put up aggressive fronts when around that person (be it because they're embarrassed, shy or other reasons). Aside from that, there's also characters that like to act tough and aloof but secretly care about the people around them and are embarrassed to show it.
Actually in one of her livestreams when someone said something rude about Jim she actually defended him and said that she likes him.
How did she defend him? I just found out about this
@@ICHIBAN-cz8ih I think it was just basically someone saying something bad about Jim and then she replied in English something along the lines of "No, I like Jim Cornette, he is my favorite." give or take~ she didn't say anything about it in Japanese though and it was just left at that. Was probably 2 months ago on an Instagram live, believe she was wearing her money hoodie in that stream.
I have all the respect in the world for Maki Itoh
I love how she just doesn't give a fuck and is more than willing to have a laugh and take a poke at Corny
Maki Itoh proves the old adage:
You can't fight crazy!
Jim didn't quite know how to respond at first. He knows how to respond to everything, lol!
"GLAD SHE CLEARED THAT UP" god that popped me lol
Oh great Maki x Cornette fanfics coming soon to a website near you.
Also these photos get better and better Travis
A hidden love that neither was prepared for. Cornette acts tough about her, but obviously wants her to step on his face.
I don't even know who Maki Itoh is besides a Joshi wrestler and she immediately won me over with "Jim Cornettu hates mmmmeeeeee" that was so innocent and adorable it's ridiculous.
“Well glad she cleared all that up!!” 😂😂😂😂😂😂 oh my gosh
like her work or not, she still responds in a respectable manner, says a lot about her character.
a wrestling anime with Maki and Jim with appearances by Riho and Kenny?! the love and piss will reach all corners of the squared circle!
I'll take a comedy anime instead. I'd hate to compare that to Ultimate Muscle
🤣
Corny pulls his inner Tsundere
He can't hide it.lol
I love the fact that the newer wrestlers are so concerned about what Cornette thinks. growing up in eastern kentucky i was able to see both ovw and smw on local channels so Jim Cornette defined what wrestling was for me in a big way, and its nice to see people show him the respect he deserves.
Next time she comes out, Cornie should make a special appearance to manage her, whip out the old racket and interfere so she can score a win.
hell yes
Take my money!
book it @TonyKhan
She‘ll sing something to the tune of the midnight express entrance music
maki just pulled out a reverse card on Jim lol
Her calling him "shy" was really her peeing on that card 🤣
Cant wait for the Jim x Maki Romance Comedy Spin-off
I'd watch that anime
Keeping with her culture and with her character, that was brilliant, maybe the best response to Corney’s criticism I’ve ever heard. Plus, it’s hilarious to think that Cornette is secretly a huge Maki Itoh mark.
Did a little more thinking since my last comment and yeah this is just a very cute and nice interaction between two wrestling personalities it's clear that Jim is warming up to her at least as a human and she clearly has nothing against him so I like that it's just a funny and cute moment and that's cool
"I'm glad she cleared all that up!" 😅 She does have a taciturn verbal style.
Ahhh. Jim Cornetto-san
I do think deep deep down in Jim's heart he likes Maki Itoah. Now he hates her in the ring and hates her gimmick and her style yes. But she told Jim off last time I believe, and this time she says this, I think Jim respects her from a business standpoint and as a person stand point.
She makes more sense than Joetato, that's for sure.
That Jim Cornette hates me, maybe he likes me should be the intro to every show
Jim doesn't hate House of Black, he's just shy 😂😂😂
Her adorableness got Jim to stop working for a whole minute 😂
Still not a fan of her work (although there's always room for some comedy so I don't hate her) but I just gained a ton of respect for her. Her jovial response is something she should teach the rest of the incredibly thinned skinned AEW roster.
she's at least smart enough to get it. i can respect that.
And their fans. I've never seen more death threats thrown over a brand.
I find the allegations on Vince McMahon about his extra marital affairs more entertaining than Maki Itoh.
@@TNLable forcing someone to give you oral sex at the threat of taking their job isn't an extramarital affair, it's rape.
She just showed the rest of the roster is SAWFT and she can't teach that!
lol, a regular match made in heaven: I ship it.
I think Maki knows what she is doing. She knows she is trolling Jim
and it's fun and Jim is playing back. It's all good fun.
I've heard people call Jim a lot of things. But shy? It sounded like Jim had never even heard that one 😆
This artwork made my workout even better.
jim cornette as a white Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the greatest shit lmao
I've never heard Jim say he hates her, he just doesn't want the shit queen on his television screen. I also think she handled that question very well. Good for maki ito.
Shotzi is still the undisputed shit queen unless Maki starts selling poop pics too
Shit queen?
Holy shit. I wrote that comment on her live Instagram feed. She got a good laugh. Honestly, Jim Cornette managing Maki Itoh would be ratings gold.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder indeed. Any chance we could have a permanent leave of absence for Olivier?
I love Kenny Omega for staying off of my TV and away from wrestling. I hope it's permanent.
Sorry little buddy but he'll be back soon and be aew champion again. Better get used to it.
@@JohnnyInJapan or just stop watching
@@shadowbear66 even better
That may be the best way for a wrestler that Jim probably will never be a fan of to take his criticism. There are times when a wrestler can make the changes(Miro) but, times like this they’re better off just pushing it off without getting into a war of words.
I said this in the past, both Jim and The Bucks are multi-milionares. They both suceeded, it makes zero sense for either of them to consider each others opinion.
Wrestlers like Janella could use some of that advice for sure, and they are the ones who should listen.
Speaking about Miro, i do not think he ever answered when he was criticized. He want balistic when Jim said Penelope Pittstop, and he interpreted that as Jim calling one of his friends a whore. After that was clarified, i have never heard from him again either.
@@clawy99 I'm not sure what money has to do with how Jim feels about The Bucks. All of Jim's criticisms of various talents can be boiled down to a handful of things. Jim thinks a match should always look like a legitimate contest because that's what made pro wrestling popular for decades. Even if people know it is fake it should not purposefully look fake. I think he really summed it up best when he said "40 years ago the wrestlers weren't hurting each other and people thought it was real. Today they are actually getting hurt and everyone thinks it's fake."
I think Jim truly worries that he may outlive the pro wrestling business and that the death of it will largely be the fault of wrestlers like The Bucks (as well as bad writing, promotions relying too much on veteran talent, hotshot booking etc....).
@@artemusprine it is about him being rigth.
Money is pretty much the measurement of success in any business. If you make money, you are good at what you are doing.
Jim himself went through the same thing. The older wrestlers viewed him as a mascot, people like Dutch Mantel said so. He himself said that the cake segment was something many people at that point did not understand.
Wrestling, as an art form (and that is what it is) is changing. US views might be down, but for example i am from Romania. 30 years ago i would not have known the meaning of the word wrestling, now i can stream any backyard promotion.
The business is doing great. WWE has record number, AEW is a nice alternative, even thing like GCW are drawing teritory numbers.
We even had a local federation here, sadly the pandemic killed it off. But fuck, a wrestling federation in Romania, even if temporary, shows that it is a more worldwide phenomenon then ever.
@@clawy99 And that is where we probably disagree.
Cornette has said the same thing, that McDonalds didn't have the best burgers but were just the best at selling them.
Being good at selling what you do doesn't necessarily mean you are good at doing what you sell.
Don't even get me started on short term vs. the long game lol
This lady is basically the closest thing we have to a real-life Sakura Hagiwara from I Wanna Be The Strongest In The World. And I respect how she seems at least aware of that.
I often got the same opinion on Cornette on alot of wrestlers (Young Bucks for example). But Maki Itoh is actually everything, he always blames is missing in Wrestling. A character with an interesting backstory, a funny gimmick, simple wrestling and simple stuff. You know what you get when she appears. She is fresh air in the super boring womens wrestling world right now, where literally no single woman got a personality anymore.
Problem is unless you watch very obscure japanese wrestling you have no clue she has a backstory and are very confused who she is and why she's there. AEW is GARBAGE at actually explaining things as they expect their fans to just know. It's why this AEW vs New Japan thing is dying a slow death. Only half the fans know who these people are and care and the half that don't are conditioned to further not care as these people from new japan they've never heard of are losing on their only AEW appearances.
There's a difference between "Simple wrestling" and "garbage wrestling"
Here's the thing Maki Itoh is a comedy character she knows it as well, if you enjoy the joke and get a laugh every now and again then great, only problem could be if she turns out like pockets and suddenly gets a big push even though they're meant to be a joke.
the idea of the pockets character is that he is a slacker, but when somebody pisses him off, he can become serious. So him getting the occasional push is not something that goes into contradiction with the comedy he does. It worked for him well in the indies, it worked for the crowd following aew
If you look at him and lets say Adam Cole, i think he would win a real fight too, to be honest.
Also he was asked a similar question at one point, and he simply answered "whatever" and was cool about it.
Lastly this is him talking, while admittedly, drunk. So the silent character works better
th-cam.com/video/uAbjTlxj2ms/w-d-xo.html
As long as she stays in her lane and wins princess titles and loses every big match just getting her comedy bits in before the loss that is the lane and what she is, if you enjoy the ride she can be fun. She is not as bad as a Riho hitting girls with 25 pounds of nothing and getting actual titles from better wrestlers.
@@clawy99 The problem is he's not really booked that way. It doesnt come across as, "slacker until you piss him off and then it's on!", at least not in a remotely believable or convincing way. He still maintains the pocketed goofball shit even when he's supposedly being serious and trying to win. They take the gag wayyyyy too far and it's hokey bullshit.
@@jackburton2680 look at this, if you want to skip to goofy shit jump to 1:35:
th-cam.com/video/taOF216fLz4/w-d-xo.html
Moments like this made me like him, even though i have first seen him in aew, i do not watch indies except occasional on youtube
I do agree he has to go get rid of these shin kicks in general. But in the end that is what got him over, so he will stick to them.
Some people also do not realize he is 38, he is definitely in the in the category of you cannot teach an old dog new tricks.
But for 38 he moves like crazy, if counterweight wrestling was still a thing instead of everybody being a counterweight, i think he would be a massive star in that division.
@@clawy99 I actually like his schtick, i think it's funny and it's understandable he/it got over. the problem is without him being willing/able to evolve and change things up, he should not be handled the way AEW has handled him. A one-note, gimmick joke wrestler should stay in the low card doing meaningless joke matches, not be elevated to actually engage in serious competitive matches with the talent who has actual potential to rise higher and do serious shit. Comedy wrestling has its place, I differ with Cornette on that, i love a good hilarious schtick, but there is a very specific place for it in a company/on a card and AEW violates that regularly
Young Bucks, Janela, and Kenny can learn a lot from Maki Itoh. She even made an innocent joke about Jim being shy instead of like, putting out a shirt or going on Twitter for drama.
Well, probably not. I think it's like the George the Animal Steel. No, one would confuse him with Buddy Rogers, and Nick Bockwinkel. She is a comedy wrestler/entertainer and she knows it and doesn't care. Attacking her wrestling is like, but did you like her song? She doesn't care if her punches look like there is more air in between than Top gun, she is a comedy wrestler and swims in it, those other dudes whether you like them or not think they are actual wrestlers to embrace Cornettes critique is to deny who they think they are.
"LMAO! Like her gimmick on AEW, I didn't understand any of it lol!"
I don’t give a shit, I love Maki Itoh. That’s some deep character work and I think it’s great.
This is officially my new favorite video of all time.
So according to Maki Itoh , Jim Cornette is a Tsundere.🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍
Maki Itoh is the comedic wrestling gift that just keeps on giving.
This was far more wholesome and far less sweary than I expected
There's only one scenario where Jim sits quietly in the corner.
She sings her ENTRANCE MUSIC. It will ONLY change when her entrance music changes, eventhough she sings it in English now.
It's times like this I think all corny needs is a hug.
Maki is so damn cute, I'm loving her more and more
She was being a very typical Japanese girl in saying that. She knows he doesn't like her, but she is saying something peppy and cheerful so as not to let the mood falter. She even giggled when she first said that he hates her. Her remark about Jim being shy is meant to be the dead giveaway that she is just being playful about it.
...oh God, I didn't think I'd ever hear the "they didn't think it be like it is, but it do" meme out of Cornette's mouth.
I lost it more than my guy in the background 😂
She's a cutie. Not a fan of her in-ring style; but I like her personality and presentation.
I don't think she's particularly good, but Maki definitely wrestles for the love of it, and she seems to be an absolute sweetheart. Jim will never be a fan of her work, but I bet her personality is growing on him.
Maki Itoh couldn't be paid enough to speak badly about anyone. She has a heart of gold. Perhaps Jim could be so mature someday.
I'm part of the Cult of CORNETTE.. but I can't deny that Maki is damn cute 🤣🤣🤣
I wish Brian included the joke that Jim said during the ad read about trying out for the football team and when the coach asked Jim “Can you pass this football?”, Jim said “Hell coach I don’t even know if I can swallow it”
Awesome Shoot Today Jim!!😎🐐🐐
Well... I'm glad she cleared all that up!
Ii always said that about Jim, he is way too shy, bottling up his feelings like he does is just not healthy.
Dear lord I cant finish the video because I cant stop laughing at the f'ing thumbnail, is too much
LMAO THE THUMBNAIL
Those mic shots are still the most brutal I’ve ever seen, no idea how the other girl recovered.
Okay am I the only one who is trying my hardest not to laugh at Maki's comment & Jim & Brian's reactions?! 😂
Her continuing to sing after her intro music stopped on Dynamite is legend!😂 I recall an episode of RAW in the infancy of the internet, where the mics picked up an audible of Flair going to the top in his famous spot to be thrown off. As he was going up top you heard a fan shout "Don't do it, it never works!" Flair replied " Shut up I'm doing it anyway" Within a second after he said it, he got thrown off!😂
Travis buckle is amazing at these thumbnail photos
She should buy one of his shirts and put hearts around his head and wear it next time she shows up.
Maki Itoh must be right, this was the mildest clapback I've ever heard from Cornette. Not a single curse word uttered.
JIM CORNETTE HATES MEEEE
I feel someone gonna bring "Tsundere Jim Cornette" signs on next Aew shows 😅
I will lol
When Brian cracks up... 🤣💀
It's not surprising. She just has more class. If Kota Ibushi even knew who Jim was he would likely be very polite in response to all his nasty, over the line comments about him over the years.
‘jim and maki sitting in a tree,
what about his wife stacey?’
Tony Khan needs to hire Maki Itoh to deal with all negative criticism going forward. She's seriously much better at it.
It's funny when he fires someone he doesn't send pink slips he sends blank envelopes and doesn't answer their calls and hopes they go away.
Maki seems to understand not every critique is an attack on your very existence, unlike some of these other fragile wrestlers who get bent out of shape by Jim’s comments. I think she answered that question with humor and didn’t come off badly at all! 😁
She has an English version of her ring entrance now. Also, her English has improved in which she speaks much clearer.
"Well im glad she cleared that up" LMAOOOOOOOOOO
How if you aren't Jim do you not love her. She's the only one in that company that just has fun with it. She obviously couldn't care less so she jokes about it.Everyone else they start a # Stand With whoever.🙄
Jim showing up managing the Queen of Piss and Shit as she ends Good Ole Jane's unbeaten streak is going to be an event for the ages.
Perhaps Jim’s only modern opponent that can handle his criticism, now I need to see him manage her in the perfect odd pairing
I could just see Corny dancing around to Brooklyn The Hole.
Maki Itoh does the same entrance music "Song" at every event in the states and in Japan. It's always been her official entrance music. Not just when she does AEW.
I was waiting for this haha. Even though I love maki, Jim's comments are still pretty funny.
I'll give Itoh this. She has thick skin and doesn’t take shit to heart. Now if she gets better in the ring and gets serious about shit, she can have something.
This is nothing, as far as her having thick skin. Assuming it's accurate, check out her Wikipedia page to see how she got treated in the world of jpop and it's borderline sinister beauty standards.
Never thought i see the day that Jim cornette would be in a senpai love situation XD
Thanks Jim and Brian for translating this to Engrish.
The Jim Cornette Tsundere arc is awesome so far.
