If you can get the slim pen 2 get it. According to most artists who've tried it it's now on par with the apple pencil without jitter on diagonal lines, lag etc
For gaming, some say that it's not much of a gaming laptop, but if you'd bought a laptop with 32 gb of ram and core i9 or ryzen, then that would've been a different story. My opinion. I believe that this surface laptop studio could be a great investment to begin everyone's journey of content creation. I can see this as a starter packet and then later on I'd switch it to an actual desktop with higher graphics and performances.
I bought this machine for drawing in PS and i am somewhat dissapointed although it is sill new to me. PS keeps crashing but i think it is workimg better now that i am plugging it in. I think i will try out some other drawing apps.
The 3050 model was 1700 on black friday then jumped back to 2000 on new years. It was a hard decision between this and the ipad but I'm super happy I picked the SLS w/ RTX. The money saved went into the Slim pen 2 and 1tb 970 Evo swap.
@@joshray2837 After you remove the 2 rubber feet and metal trim around the underside, you have access to all 10 screws and the bottom pops off. You just have to be careful removing the trim pieces. Unless you want to reapply adhesive film to the trim, use a hairdryer to peel them off easily. I returned the 1tb last minute and got a 2tb. It's running great!
The Acer ConceptD 7 Ezel Pro is better (if you can somehow get it still). It has a better hinge (allows for a floating screen or any other angle), 4k screen, a lot more ports (SD card reader, USB A, USB C, display port, ethernet), EMR Wacom pen, and can upgrade it with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 GPU and 11th gen i7. Backlit keyboard too (ambient orange color)
Thank you for this awesome review. What is Your opinion about the Surface Studio Laptop at the moment of reading this question? Did it change over the many software updates? Is the difference big enough that its worth a revisit review video? And what changes would you hope to see in a future version?
No, it's very smooth when using it for scrolling through articles, the web, or anything like that. The refresh rate is fantastic for this sort of activity.
Are you drawing directly plastic on glass? I am and having such a hard time. Can't draw straight or connecting lines/shapes. I tried a screen protector but then it creates jitter. Any suggestions? I'm on the Surface Pro 8
@@cyber3765 I have a SB3 but have tried the SLS, these devices are built for multitasking. Obliviously if you're rending 4K video or AAA gaming in VR you would have to prioritise those tasks. But things like editing on Photoshop and drawing on adobe suite ,while listing to Spotify, while having 10+ chrome windows open wont be problem, with 16 or 32 gb.
You can pick up a surface book 2 15 so cheaply these days. The it's full fat gtx 1060 is still very useful and it screen is beautiful and higher res than the studio. Also to get the full effect of drawing on the Studio laptop you need the slim pen.
iPad Pro is a big iPhone that runs 1.9 million smartphone apps. Only an Apple user would compare and prefer a smartphone to a laptop that runs 35 million computer programs...lol

I’m interested in knowing where to place the pen after your done is there like a case or accessory for it to place the pen?

Yeah you missed out using the surface pen 1, the slim pen 2 is much better and the gitter is pretty much gone, plus it fits perfectly on the laptop
Does anyone know how this laptop works for 3D modeling programs? I’ve been looking for a good laptop for digital sculpting in blender or zbrush.
Oh No you missed out on using it with the new slim pen 2 just for that PC

Hoping for Matte black + 16" for the 2nd gen
For photoshop, you need to downgrade the version. Photoshop 2021 works pretty well, not the 2022
how can you configurate control Z while drawing on tablet mode on photoshop???

how hard was it to swap the ssd?

The ConceptD line is dead unfortunately
Oops hate to tell you but you bought the old laggy pen! You need the new one to get better latency.
Oops hate to tell you but in 2022 there is no such thing as lag. So that means you are just a troll...
the pen being used was released in 2017
Great video. Helpful!

How do you attach the old surface pen in the surface laptop studio?
Show me where you can buy a model with 8 Gb ram!
great video bro
Thank you!
Great video
is it laggy in terms of scrolling and zooming? Is it as smooth as an ipad?

Using the new surface slim pen 2
You need software stabilizer in your art program like for example Krita or Clip Studio if you want to have smooth straight lines.
In what world does the Studio Laptop not come with the new and improved surface pen? Oh, this is one year ago.
Can it multitask tho?
Not sure if you're quoting a joke. But of course it can.
@@jackjude I am literally asking about it😅

too much time spend trying to get your audience to participate, join subscribe, etc.. we get it.. if we like your content, we will join dont worry.
I prefer Ipad Pro
That's totally fair. While I do think that the Surface Studio Laptop is the better drawing device, there are a lot of advantages to an iPad Pro.

Try using VR, AAA gaming and Adobe CC on an ipad
