Digging around a little and I find you could get that screwdriver with a 2,3,4,5,6 or 8 inch shank, starting at 70 cents for the 2 inch and 5 cents more for each size up, so 95 cents for the 8 inch in 1929..............I also found that model in a 1920 catalog but there was no prices in that catalog.........So I suppose that could be over a hundred years old.

Excellent. I have a couple Yankee screwdrivers, and this will make servicing them a breeze. Thanks for the teardown...

Yeah I don’t think they changed much through the years. Any one of them is probably gonna be something similar to this.

I like how you take the mystery out of these on your teardowns. When you take something new apart, do you takes pics or video? Or do you just work from memory on reassembly?

I don’t usually take pics on the tools, I just go by memory. I have taken pictures of other things as I was tearing them down in the past though, namely something such as an auto repair project.

I found one at an estate sale today, (didn't get the bargain that you got) I paid $5. Handle is in great shape, can't read the pat# on mine. I looked up the pat# you gave, it shows it was applied for Apr 17, 1901 and granted on Jan 19, 1904. Thanks for the tear down.
