    One of the best videos I've seen on your product.Thank you!
    One tip to others wrapped up in two words, "DOG/CAT HAIR"!
    I've just completed my fiberglass shower basin and looking forward to the pour on for the bath tub in the other bath. You mention cleaning in all the videos but as a dog owner (she doesn't shed much either), I have to add that it is imperative for the dyi'ers to entirely clean, vacuum, mop ALL surfaces in the work room AND adjacent room, keep doors closed and vents for the work room sealed (may present some temperature challenges). It is AMAZING how much dog and possibly human hair follicles float in the air and still get into the room. It was full time challenge on the first coat to pick out the dog hairs, i bettered it significantly for the second coat to an acceptable(but not perfect) level. With the LONG dry times this material needs dog hairs floating in the air for 3 to 24 hours is definitely a factor to pay attention to for your final product. I believe there was some human hair shedding also and will get one of those $20 Tyvex suits before I do the pour on refinishing for the bath tub.

    The extra strength acidic toilet cleaner has the same amount of acid as traditional etching cleaners.
    It is very important that the surface be as clean as possible.
    This is a hybrid epoxy material and will stick perfectly to the clean dry surface.

      If you use xylene also, should you wash it off first? Or use it as a primer? Or use a primer? How long after the primer to paint?

    Just got through using your product and have to say it was very user friendly and I'm so happy I brought it. I spent a lot of time watching each video ahead of the project. The guy in the video tutorial does a great commentary and the video is excellent. I wish I could say I stayed as clean as he did! Within 3 minutes my gloves were dripping and I had Ekopel everywhere, but that's just me, I was also using a smaller cup, the larger one would have been better, my fault. Luckily I had lots of paper on the floor and paper towels close by.
    My house was a rental before we brought it and someone must have 'cleaned' the tub with acid as it had no glaze. My daughter dyes her hair blue and every time she does, the dye stains the tub too. Now she's moved out I decided to refinish it. If you are reading this and trying to decide if you want to undertake this project yourself I'd definitely recommend using this product. If you have the money to spare perhaps hire a professional to do it but ask them to use this product. Yes, it's a daunting project but watch the videos carefully, lots of good hints and tips. Ladies, wear a tightish shirt so it doesn't get into the paint on the side of the tub and tie your hair back. I would say it would have been easier if I was just a little taller (I'm 5'4") and had slightly longer arms to get the reach over. I did see an updated video using a foam roller which I think would have helped me reach the back side of the tub. Yes, it is a strain on your back but when you eventually manage to stand up straight again and admire your handy work you'll forget about you back! It's well worth the money. I'd say I spent about 2 1/2 hours all in all, and spread my project out. One afternoon scraping the silicone that some clever person put over the existing grout, and then washing the tub with the Lysol. I then masked and painted the next day. Just waiting for it to cure now and hoping the dripping faucet doesn't over flow my baggie. I didn't realize how much it was dripping but did see a fix in the comments if I have a baggie fail! So far I have a fantastic looking tub, and a new found confidence in my DIY skills. Thanks Refinished bath solutions.

Beings trailer house the tub is a 55” instead of 60” and not very deep so I’m praying my kit has enough for walls. My question is how crucial getting all of the silicone off is? Very thorough demonstrations. Thank you.
    Several years ago we had a "professional" tub refinishing person paint our tub and it has been nothing but trouble ever since. The paint, or whatever it was, peeled off across the front in large pieces. The bottom became a mess as well. I'm sure he didn't properly pre-etch the tub. We wound up taking him to small claims court (and won). I was getting ready to replace the whole darn tub, but I may give this system a try instead.

      We ran a spray refinishing business for years and encountered a lot of the same issues. Between that and the chemicals we knew there had to be a better way. This material is way stronger. Once we started working with it we sold off all of our spray equipment and if we do an install this is the only product we use.

      @BibleStudy1611 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This happens a lot in this business I see so many tubs that other people have tried to re-glaze and the job fails due to improper prepping.
      Prep work I have found is the key to a lasting coating. Cleaning- Etching -and even sanding is needed before the coating is applied or it will fail quickly.
      I have found that if prep is done correctly most any epoxy will last for 5-8 years , but this Ekopel stuff is top of the line, if prepped right this coating easily lasts 20 years and i'm sure it goes even beyond that...I'M SOLD!

    So I did my tub and it looks brand new. Except for the part by the toilet that I bumped and then tried to fix. A big help would be giving a time limit of when not to touch it anymore. I seen and heard when he was removing the tape in the drain not to worry about bumping it because it would smooth out. tried to fix it with the roller and it made a mess. Grabbed an acid brush real quick and applied a little more compound from the cup and it appeared to look good. An hour latter it had runs in it that finally hardened that way. A good video would be how to fix hardened drips. Also at the floor I removed the tape as this guy did just guessing because I didn't hear a time (to wait) mentioned other than at the end of the job. So for me it was an hour and a half. Came back a half hour latter and the epoxy was all over the floor. My brand new tile floor that I just installed. Which initiated an emergency clean up. Which lead to a bump on the side of the tub. Which lead to drips that are now hard. This seams like a great product and it wasn't that hard to do but try to understand that everyone doing this is a first timer. I watch all the videos and would suggest a video that specifically addresses when not to touch it anymore and when to remove the tape at the floor and what to do if a mistake happens. It looks great now. I hope it lasts. :)

    Priced out having someone redo my tub his way. They quoted 800$ and I went to HD and I can buy a tub and surround for the same price. The tub had been redone at some point because it’s peeling. Found a box of homax tough as tile. So I assume that’s what the original home owner used. This stuff you’re using seems to be way better but I’m still not sure if I should mess with this or just replace the entire thing

    • @RefinishedBathSolutions
      @RefinishedBathSolutions  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      matanuska high it’s tricky because it’s $800 for the tub and surround then demo cost, plumber cost, hardware cost. That doesn’t include any damages behind the walls or other costs. It looks like $800 but more like 4-6k.
      We only sell product to refinishers but all that buy from us warranty there work and do a great job or we close there account.

      Refinished Bath Solutions i do the work myself. It’s easy to redo do a bathroom. I’ve done a lot of bathrooms . To me one day to swap out the tub and surround maybe two days. It’s a common size and should have to move pipes although if they do need to be moved I have no problem doing it. It’s simple plumbing. I can move copper pipes to adjust for height etc. I’ve done it plenty of times when adding a deeper bathtub etc.

    • @RefinishedBathSolutions

      No you would need to use our non slip kit and apply after it cures. Or any sand would get completely engulfed and sink to the bottom.
      Torch is to hot. You need to use heat gun or a blow dryer.
      Only on the bottom and only for a few seconds.

    OK, what did I do wrong. My tub looks like Swiss cheese. I didn't see this type of warning in any of the 12 videos or so I watched. How in the heck do I fix it, or should I have just purchased a new tub? About 4 of these kits=1 new bathtub, so if mine is now Swiss cheese, is it more economical to replace it than try to fix it?

    Beautiful video,,, will this work on plastic tub?? Hay don't know what material is that if it is a acrylic ..What about the kitchen sink do you have a kid for that ?? and how much is it for a cast iron kitchen sink?? question when you used a blow dryer do you use it hot or Miriam hot?? What kind of sandpaper i would use???
    Gracias 😁

    • @RefinishedBathSolutions
      @RefinishedBathSolutions  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do use the blow dryer on the hot setting. It will work for both a plastic tub and a cast iron sink.
      For the tub it is fine if it is a tub only. This will not be a good fit for a one piece tub and surround unit.
      One kit is enough to cast a tub and normally there is enough left over to do the sink at the same time if it is small enough. If not your best bet would be to order 2 units.

  • @megantrenary9865
    @megantrenary9865 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Questions:
    1. Do you think this could work on a cast iron drainboard sink or would it be too difficult to keep the drain channels from filling in? 2. If it would work, do you have a recommended ratio of product to surface area to minimize waste and/or avoid having too little?
    3. What about a claw foot tub? Seems like the surface area in this case would be different. Do you recommend trying to apply this on the outside of the tub (in the case of a tub that is not yet installed).
    4. If doing both the inside and outside of the claw foot tub, how much product would be required?
    Thanks!

    • @RefinishedBathSolutions
      @RefinishedBathSolutions  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Megan Trenary one of the first videos we uploaded shows a sink with drain board before and after. The video before that is a clawtub before and after. Both of these units were in the same home and we used 1 kit of material to complete both.
      We don’t recommend doing the outside of the clawtub as it would be more difficult and a waste of money. Any kitchen and bath paint is strong enough to seal the outside of the tub as water exposure is very little.
      I would recommend preparing both units at the same time then using the one kit. If you would be more confident doing them separately in about 2 weeks we will be releasing a smaller sink kit.
      The material can be broken down in 6-1 ratios by weight. If not broken down exactly it can cause the material to cure with less strength.
      I hope this helps, and If you have any more questions feel free to give us a call or leave them below.

    What's the best way to tackle prep work? I refinished my tub with the box store brand 3 years ago and it didn't take long to start to come up. Since then I band-aided it with a stick-on tub cover thing but now that this is out I want to give it a try. • @RefinishedBathSolutions
