    We had two different professionals do our old cast iron tub over the years, and the sprayed-on coating would hold up for a while, but we're glad to finally have a new tub. They would put an exhaust fan in the bathroom window to help remove the fumes. This video: Probably a good idea to use chemical resistant gloves if you care about your skin and are handling acetone!

    I used the Rustoleum kit.. same result for $40. It's epoxy and worked great for a fraction of the cost

      I’ll look into it. It does look very similar 👍

      Idk, the Ekopel2k kit is unmatched. There's a reason the Tub & Tile Refinishing Kit is $40, and the Ekopel2k is $140. Any of those "paint" on tub and tile kits fail after so many years or less, but the Ekopel 2k if done right will last long after without chipping or coming off.
      It's "encases" the tub in a brand-new finish instead of the very surface level coating that the paint on applications do.

    Great video but you didn't identify kit you used. Where can I buy it in Canada, and what does it cost? You used a roller to "push around" the epoxy - what kind of bristle should the roller be? Short, stiff bristles? And with the grinder, this is using a wire brush, right? Does that need to be any particular type of wheel? (I'm not familiar with grinders at all!)

    Rustoleum kit seems to be available only in WHITE. Are there other kits in Almond or Bone?

    Hi sir, if i have a screw in drain cover what do you recommend i do? I dont believe i can access the drain conveniently and was looking to tape the drain to prevent any buildup of the epoxy. Do you think ill have any problems removing the tape with the epoxy cured? Thank you your videos have been very helpful and informative!

    Are there any more affordable resurfacing kits that you recommend Or just the Epoxy itself? For $200 you can just get a new tub insert with lot less effort

    I’ve got a green cast iron tub but I’m concerned about the sanding process. The whole point in me wanting to epoxy it is to encapsulate lead..not to get lead dust in the house. Is there a way around that or no?

      N95 mask gloves and use thinner and a scrapper not sand

    I've got an avocado green cast iron tub in my older trailer house. I bought the Rust-Oleum kit to redo the tub. The kit doesn't say whether or not you can prime before using the resurfacing kit, do you think it would hurt anything to prime it first??

    So I've been trying to figure out how much room I would need for a standing shower and a soaking tub? I have 73" ....good channel btw

    • @BathroomRemodelingTeacher
      @BathroomRemodelingTeacher  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      9ft minimum in my opinion. Even if it’s a free standing tub it’ll take up 60”. There are different options on tubs though, but they get crazy expensive real quick with specialty sizes

      @Bathroom Remodeling Teacher what if you have the short side of free standing tub next to an open shower stall with a glass short wall or ponywall ? If you know what I'm trying to say? So have a tiled water barrier floor surrounding tub that transitioned into shower... I appreciate your help

    I used this product at your recommendation but did not like it. It needs to be done at a pretty quick pace. I was left with streaks running down and some orange peel effect. Also very hard to do when the drain can’t be removed.

      Yes main reason I recommend removing drain, and it sounds like it was too cold of an environment. Sorry to hear your troubles with it

    🚨Hey BRT, urgent and off-subject question if you got a sec. I installed whisper Panasonic and 1-once you flip the switch it takes a two/three seconds to start winding/working and 2-I see that blades are spinning but even if the setting is at 110cfm it does not seem as if pull is strong at all. Do you know anything about this? Is this regular behavior and fan is just so super hi-end that you don’t notice its working? Or it needs some dedicated circuit with 20amp or something? Just a bit worried. Thanks in advance man.

      You should notice a difference in speed and amount of flow. Be sure the flap is moving on exhaust. It always take a few seconds to start. What size duct and length are you going ?

    • @splanzza
      @splanzza ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BathroomRemodelingTeacher Yeah, I did remove the tape on flap but did not check visually. Will have to do that. I did switched from 80 to 110 and did noticed the difference in speed but for such a fan to me it looked too slow and too silent on either one of the settings. I used 6’’ insulated duct and 10’ in length. Thanks Steve!

    You ever warm the epoxy up on a hot plate before you apply it?

    • @BathroomRemodelingTeacher
      @BathroomRemodelingTeacher  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Never crossed my mind, but would help 👍

    • @garagekeys
      @garagekeys ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BathroomRemodelingTeacher I used to do that when I painted cars, I would put a thermometer in the paint and get the paint around 90 degrees and it would flow better. Don't use a gas stove because then fumed are most likely explosive
