Our Family drove 1,300 miles from Utah (known for great fly fishing in it's own right) to fish Northern Arkansas. We were not disappointed. I've fished Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and the NWT of Canada. These fisheries in Arky can go toe to toe with any of them. What an "unknown" gem this place is. Already thinking about our next trip... Excellent film.

I grew up in Santa Barbara CA. Left there in 1989 with a college girl for Arkansas. She's now my wife ... 30 happy years. I go back to Santa Barbara on occaision. Get asked where I live and get laughed at for my reply. But I just smile. Arkansas is drop dead georgeous and I ain't leaving.
Living the dream in Mt Olive just north of Mountain View on the White River and this is heaven a slower pace of life living the simple life. Everyone friendly and just the old time southern charm. I am 26 years old and i will be living here until my ashes blow in the mountain breeze. Wooo pig !
I was born and raised in a small town in Arkansas called Leslie , I learned to fly fish on the small creeks near home , using my Grandfathers old rod , my Grandmother gave it to me when I was about 10 . I lived within three quarters of a mile of White River for nearly 20 years , now I live on lake North Fork , I have enjoyed Fly Fishing the creeks , rivers and lakes of Arkansas all my life . It is a hidden Treasure , Man I love this film . Great Job !!!!!!!!

Good job guys! Personally it's a blessing that Arkansas is not on the radar. My family and I moved to Glenwood, AR. area five years ago and we love it here! Little Missouri river, Caddo river, self creek, it's fishing heaven!

Bowfins and gar aren't trash fish though, if you can actually catch a bowfin it puts up a hell of a fight same goes for gar and if you can get through a gar's skin they're really good eatin.
Beautiful video you guys should thank the fish Gods everyday I live in Rhode Island and there is only a couple of places to fish stocked trout and when everyone in the state find out through Facebook or on line in general people are shoulder to shoulder using power bait and live baits just keeping their limits day in and day out I'm a member of T.U. in my state so we all practise catch and release and it kills me watching people keeping trout just because they can

I’m wanting to get back into fly fishing after a 20 year hiatus, and would eventually like to teach and take my boys when they’re old enough…any tips on where to go relatively nearby? I don’t have a boat and would prefer, if at all possible, somewhere within an hour drive that isn’t overwhelmed with other people. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Having been an outdoor sportsman my whole life, I have hunted many species in many states with both gun and bow, however when I want to go fishing I've never felt much need than to go beyond the Ozarks I was born and raised in because in my eyes it's the perfect fishing haven here.
Honestly, my sons and I were already going to fish in north western Arkansas this June before we even found this video. I shared this with them and it really built a fire under our butts.

I am a flatlander in central Tx teaching myself to fly fish in hopes that i can be proficient enough to give it a go when i take my family to your area in the coming July. Really cant wait to see that beautiful country in person and experience it for all it has to offer
Good management is the best solution I wish the Bow River management would get that! We have catch and release 0 retention but there are other neglected practices that could be easily implemented to get the kind of benefits you guys and gals are enjoying! Well done!!!
Growing up here and fishing here on both rivers. U dont think we are better than other places to fish. Just home here. I do some fly fishing. I like fishing a tiny jig on an Ultralite rod. U know where to fish on the river. Catch your limit of crappie. And some nice small mouth. Right before dark. With a jerk bait. U better hang on. I live 5 minutes from where . The 2 rivers run together. G&F are Proposing to prohibit the harvest of trout other than rainbow trout. 30 minutes after sunset. To 30 minutes before sunrise.
I was 15 and my father also heard of the 38lb brown that was caught there. One of the best times of my life and made it back a second time. Caught my biggest rainbow around 5lbs.Planning on taking my family this summer.

I would go buy gear if need be, I just don’t want to get turned in the wrong direction, I want to make this something my boys and I can do forever as they age. I wanna fish there. First trout I ever caught was in Arkansas almost 30 years ago but it wasn't on a fly rod.
As a lifelong arkansas sportsman I often forget about how great our state is.
