Klonoa is like Namco's version of Kirby -- too ridiculously cute to not like, and a very solid game to boot. I just wish it was a more well-known series than it is, so that more games would be made.

If they REALLY wanted to make Klonoa 3, they'd bloody make it, and it'd be amazing. If they don't, they don't - in which case, they're only doing it out of obligation to the fans, and it won't be as good as it could be. We don't want another Duke Nukem Forever situation.
Throughout this whole video I was really getting a Kirby 64 vibe. The cute nature, the vast variety of landscapes and even the bosses reminded me of Kirby 64 and that's not bad, because that was a awesome game

I don't know if it's a model and region thing - but mine is an 80gb PAL model (upgraded to 700gb, but still...). It plays PS1 games, but not PS2 - as the 60gb PAL model COULD play them, but not very well without a few malfunctions.
The originals just got remastered recently, so it’s not off the table. Hell, we got a new Crash platformer after the N-Sane trilogy game out; maybe Klonoa or even Spyro could get the same treatment some day?

+Buzzy913 Well, the Japanese language doesn't really have any proper "L" sounds, so they often use characters with "R" sounds in their place, since those sound the closest to an "L" sound (they also pronounce "R" sounds differently than we English speakers do so... yeah) When you read the Ku-Ro part in the way that a Japanese speaker would, it would sound like "Klo". So, Klonoa and Kuronoa are pretty much the same.
+AlphaRed9X Not to mention the name itself might be a pun on the word black. The Japanese pronounce the name as Kuronoa, and it sounds like Kuro (Japanese for black) + Noir (French for black). So, Black Black :3
The Wii remake also has an English option where all the characters are fully voiced, so you can understand how to pronounce their names when they mention each other.
In the end, as someone who can speak English better than Japanese, I'd stick to Klo-nou-a. The nou sound sounds more nuanced to me. And why would I want to make racism jokes in a video game character's name, if at all? That's just not natural =w=

Kirby's Epic Yarn was literally the game that melted my heart, and that's bloody rare. Holy shit everything is SO HAPPY and you can't die in the game either, making it more simple and enjoyable. The music is adorable with it's piano arrangements, the colours and graphics are absolutely stunning and so creative. My goodness I have nothing bad to say about it.
When listening to the "dialogue" (They speak in their own language), of Klonoa, I heard them pronounce his name several times as "Clue-wah" and I just adapted to that pronunciation. But "Clone-Noah" emphasis on 'NOAH' works just as well

I'm just dropping in needlessly to give my warmest and heartfelt thanks to you, Caddy. Ever since I first watched this video, I've done some decent research into the Klonoa franchise, which I've never had any knowledge of prior. I love cute games, so I thought it would be fun. God, it was even better than that. The story was powerful and deep and meaningful, and the sequel was awesome as well. The spin-offs were... debateable, but they were undeniably solid platformers. I remember giving Door to Phantomile a go for the very first time and OH SWEET JESUS, I fell in love. Even now, as I've played every single Klonoa game but the volleyball game (and most of Heroes), I consider Klonoa one of my favorite video game franchises of all time. For managing to be cute and powerful at the same time, while not going Puella Magi Madoka on the player, I absolutely adore it. So, just to repeat, thank you Caddy. Thank you for teaching me about this brilliant series. I'm teaching others about it as we speak. We WILL get the support for Klonoa 3. Rest assured, I'll make it happen.
I feel exactly the same way about this amazing series. The words "criminally under-appreciated" do not even begin to describe the reception that these games had overseas; and I also want to support them as much as I can, so that they'll one day be given the justice it so rightfully deserves
The same thing happened to me. I had Door to Phantomile laying around for the longest thinking it was just some cute little game but nothing too different from your usual mascot platformer fare of the time. Boy was I wrong when I actually got into it. I was hooked immediately and went for every game in the franchise I just had the chance to play. It's a grave injustice how little popularity the franchise has and that the remake did poorly. At least there's the newish webcomic so the franchise isn't completely forgotten but I think it's the number one classic gaming franchise I'd like to see a new game for. It really deserves it.
I loved the second Klonoa. The first one my little brother be at super easy, but I personally like the one on PS2. Great music, graphics, and I have always had a soft spot for cute characters 😊

I got my first taste of this game with the Wii version, and it swiftly became one of my favorite side scrolling platformers. Just fantastic game. And, uh... the challenge modes after you beat the game are ridiculously hard.
This is one of my favorite games when I was younger. Though everything was in Japanese and I had no clue what anyone was saying, the graphics, music, and gameplay was absolutely fantastic. I personally loved the final "world" or something where it was all pretty and sparkle/moondust?-like. The ending really made me sad though. When I got the new game for the ps2 it wasn't as heart wrenching but still an absolutely fantastic game. You should check it out!

Oh, I wanna play the PSOne version of this game soooooooo bad >M< The Wii remake was really fun, and sequel on PS2...Long story short, that game earned a spot in my top 5 favorite games of all time.
For the PS2 sequel, I recommend running it ONLY on PS2, it's not emulator friendly, and will even crash on PS3. Haven't seen any problems on the PS2 yet except maybe the ridiculous loading time for the save screen.

Ape Escape 1... Now that is a game I'd really like to see on this channel. I've only played the second game but I've heard bits and pieces about the first one.

I got my first taste of this game with the Wii version, and it swiftly became one of my favorite side scrolling platformers. Just fantastic game.
And, uh... the challenge modes after you beat the game are ridiculously hard.

This is one of my favorite games when I was younger. Though everything was in Japanese and I had no clue what anyone was saying, the graphics, music, and gameplay was absolutely fantastic. I personally loved the final "world" or something where it was all pretty and sparkle/moondust?-like. The ending really made me sad though.
When I got the new game for the ps2 it wasn't as heart wrenching but still an absolutely fantastic game. You should check it out!

I know the newer review is more polished and a little more funny, but "Klonoa: I still can't pronounce this game" works just as well.

Oh, I wanna play the PSOne version of this game soooooooo bad >M< The Wii remake was really fun, and sequel on PS2...Long story short, that game earned a spot in my top 5 favorite games of all time.
My copy of the sequel crashed constantly on all but mine of the PS2s I tested it on. I call that luck.
For the PS2 sequel, I recommend running it ONLY on PS2, it's not emulator friendly, and will even crash on PS3. Haven't seen any problems on the PS2 yet except maybe the ridiculous loading time for the save screen.
