*For all those confused on installation*
As you know this mod is all plug and play. Once you get your 93-97 reverse socket, use your old socket to plug in the middle blinker (middle) connector to seal it off- no need for it. Top and bottom plugs are the only ones needed in this application because your brake light is already
programmed for DRLs, turn signal, and braking. Everything works how it's supposed to do. Just thought I'd clarify since half of the comment section is confused as I was before I installed mine. Thanks for the video and beautiful truck!
I figured out what you were sayin, thanks bud! Apparently I installed it correctly the first time but incorrectly the second on the right side. Then re-examined it I figured it out. This comment was still helpful though! I’m just an idiot lol

Just picked up those taillights for my 2011, I got stumped on where to plug it in but I see have to take out the light bulb out of the socket and that's where it's plugged in, big thanks

Why are you using taillights from a ‘97 Ranger for your 2011 model? It seems to me that you are making it too difficult for yourself.

Oh, ok. You didn’t state that in the beginning of your video. In my state, “smoked taillights” will get you noticed more by cops. Just another reason for them to pull you over and harass you. Last time I had checked, they were illegal. At least, the really darker ones were illegal.
@@travelinman482 The assembly is DOT approved and are fully legal. You're thinking about tinting existing tail lights.

Great video, you convinced me big time to get these haha. However I noticed your link is for the 97 ranger, yet you have the 11. Did you buy the wrong one and this had to do the modifications? I see they make a very similar tail light but for the 01-11 ranger. Just curious if you maybe got the wrong ones but still made them work
In the time since I bought these they could have made similar ones I’m not sure. These ones were made for up to 97 rangers and yes the body modifications I did was to substitute for that. Thanks for watching and I’m glad to have helped!
I know it's a year later, but I got a white 2011 ranger sport 4x4 in the spring and want these tail lights, I like them over another set that's for this gen similar. I like how these ones has the reverse at the bottom.
For the 97 sockets did you replace/rewire the socket from the truck itself to fit into the ones on the light?
Your truck is what made me really like the look of modded lifted rangers, I looked into them after seeing the one I got parked, it was like an obsession for a week until I seen the truck then for sale. Wasn't in a hurry to get my first vehicle, but at 23, I had to jump on the opportunity because it was in excellent condition and low KM for a good price probably won't find something like that again for a while.

bro, I fell in love with ur ranger, I own a 06 mustang, and Im looking for a 2003 ranger but the 4cyl or maybe 3.0l, well, im just wondering how reliable they are and bout the mpg, thx you!!
Mine had a rocky start with me but lately it’s been pretty solid for me. MPG not so good, but it is what it is. I hope you find one that treats you well!
Dudeeee I ordered a pair of smoked tail lights off pro tuning lab for my 97 ranger and I was looking for reviews on simular products. While I was watching your video I was kinda upset because yours looked so nice and yours is the next model year so they wouldn't fit mine. Then when I got later into the video you brought up how they were the 2nd gen taillights and turns out. The ones I ordered are the exact same ones you have but they'll fit mine perfect. How are they holding up after driving and being used?

i just install pair in my 2011 ford ranger all i did with the socket is used the reverse light socket for the brake socket and it fit.
Since you made these fit on your 2011 ranger is there a chance I could get them on my 2009 ranger?
Definitely. Will likely require the same body modifications I did though

I wonder which would look better, the smoke or the clear on my 2010 Ranger that charcoal in color? Any specific reason you didn't do the smoked headlights?
I liked the black housing and not the smoked lense because in my opinion it looked like it fit the truck better. I felt the smoked would’ve looked too dark
@@6speedfletch I agree, that the smoke is too dark. They should have done a lighter tint so that you can still see the lights inside.

I didn’t end up using them. I used the stock ones and modified them

Likely. As mentioned in the video and earlier comments. They fit my 2011 fine, may just require some small modifications

No, it’s. Direct fit aside from the cutting. I didn’t add anything
just seeing this now as i have a 2009 ranger. i’ve seen these lights before and i’m thinking about buying them but can anyone tell me if i will have this same problem in the video with my 09 ranger?

Okay probably a dumb question but I just got these lights for my 99 ranger and don’t know what to do with the resisters, I’ve got all of the lights working other than the C shaped one. Can someone give me a little guidance? Thanks in advance
If I remember right, they had to be wired to the light, and stuck using the 3M supplied on it to keep it close inside the housing. Hope this helps!
They say these tail lights wont fit on the step side box... so im mad i wanted these tail lights for my ranger
Oh I wonder what’s different. I’m fairly sure I’ve seen them installed on one before. It may just require modification like mine did. Best of luck!
Hey man I’m new here and my grandpa has a Ford ranger and I’m hoping he’s gonna let me fix it up and use it as my first car.
This is the work the truck needs.
- new transmission
- new rear taillights
- new tires
- and a good cleaning
Do you have any tips for me as it’s my first car and I don’t want to give up on this opportunity.

It’ll take a lot of work. Transmissions are a big job. I’d say pick out the parts before going into it, it’ll likely need more than you think so account for that too. Best of luck with it!

Transmissions are not a “big job”. Especially, when you can take to a professional trans repair shop that can do it the right way. I can rebuild ‘em but I prefer to let the pros do it. Plus, I’m too lazy for that kind of work now.

I wanna try and get those for my 99 Ranger which mine has Separate from the brake lights and turn signals and my rear signals are Amber.

I have a 02 Ranger and have been looking at these. I don't understand why they don't make these for 3rd gen rangers!
I know! Fortunately with some modifications they work! It’s only if you’re willing to do some cutting
My 04 didn’t require the body cutting. I think 02 would be the same
That’s right. The guy I was messaging had an 04 as well I believe and he didn’t have cutting to do either. Very odd change Ford made later on. Not sure exactly what year is started, but cutting was definitely necessary on my 2011. Thank you for watching!
Were u able to keep the stock bulbs, or did u have to buy led ones, and if u bought leds, can u link the site where u got them
I wanted to LED swap all the bulbs on my truck, so the light itself has built in LED’s and I bought a LED white reverse light from my local Canadian Tire store! Hope this helps!

I just bought these tail lights after seeing them on your video for my 2010 Ranger but the connector on the lights dosen't match up with the connector on the tail light. Is there a harness I need?
As mentioned in the video. You plug in 1 of the 2 connectors and the third is for the reverse bulb. Hope this helps

The fitment leaves a bit more to be desired. I think im gonna but some thin black weather striping behind the top portion where its not flush.
Was only able to install one light because its hot as hell outside.

Does the c bar light flash with the inner t/s light When you use your t/s during the day lights off?
No just the inner light comes on. The C only turns on with the parking lights on
Thanks appreciate that I ran over something on the road and ripped the harness and wiring for the rear lights and have to rewire everything I have almost the same tail lights as you only difference is the ones I have have all the leds in it didn’t have to buy bulbs btw nice truck
I bought these for my Ford Ranger 2004 Edge. And they fit in perfectly but for some reason when I press the brake it will not turn on. I don’t know why.
Were you sure to put the resister in a good spot and that all connections were solid?

Yes. It will fit directly into that model year

I bought separate LED reverse bulbs and used those

yo i just got these for my 99 and all the lights work except when im braking the inner light does not come on it only does for turn signal. but when i put the break light connector to the inner light connector the c-bar doesn’t work nor does the break. at least the reverse light works but im in some real need of help because i cant find anything online
Are you sure you have the correct one plugged in?
@@6speedfletch well when i tried plugging the other light in the breaks nor the outer light came on. i mean the 97 taillights and 99 taillights are the same 3 bulb setup so idk what’s goin on. might have to rewire something
@@6speedfletch am i correct in saying the turn signal should go where the inner lights are, the reverse light on the bottom and break/running light for the outer led?

@@6speedfletch how do you connect that? my 99 has 3 separate bulbs a reverse, a turn, and break light. it should be the same as the 97 but i can’t figure out how they got 2 bulbs to connect to 1 connector and then how would you connect the led bar
How did you make the all 3 work on the 2 stock plugs
I just plugged in the one top plug and sealed off the other. Everything lights up fine!

The reverse is just a bulb you need to plug in

im wondering the same. i could be wrong but as far as i know, tail lights for the ranger are the same from 1993 -1999. basically a plug and play. and cutting the body for fitment is only required on the 2000+ years for these tail lights.

Not exactly for the 04 but may fit right in if you’re lucky. Otherwise will require some mods similar to what I had to do. Thanks for watching!
