    Really underwhelmed with the Colorado coordinators. Six wins this year would be what I would hope for. I don't understand how they can be considered a contender. Can anyone tell me why their new Offensive Coordinator-a guy Minnesota refused to renew-should generate such realistic hopes. If it were any other team looking to start an all new offensive line, would they be considered a contender? I like Deion Sanders. I just don't like last year's hype machine. Someone tell me what I'm missing please.

      All fair points, but an offensive line can gel, there is talent there, and obvious immense talent around the skill positions. Schedule isn't too bad either. But yes, a lot has to fall right into place.

      @@heartlandcollegesports Yes, a line "can" gel, but it usually takes time for communication to reach the necessary level, and switching often means chemistry is unlikely to play a factor, which can make a significant difference...or if not recruiting for chemistry, you may end up with players who actively dislike each other playing side by side. As Andy Staples pointed out, this approach is very hit or miss depending on how lucky you get. What he didn't mention is that without the chemistry/culture factor, a little dissension can go a long way, and a season can go in the toilet in a hurry.

    The bottom line is that no one has any idea whatsoever what is going to happen, who is going to leave and who is going to stay, and who winners or losers will be. So it's all pretty much a useless exercise in futility. It is kind of fun though.

    • @WVUFootballGoinDeep
      @WVUFootballGoinDeep 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I would say that "useless exercise in futility" is a bit redundant, but "kind of fun" pretty much counters the "useless" part. If we predict enough different things, we have a good chance of being able to claim that we were right later. Besides, it keeps the mind limber when you try to see how many ifs you can juggle at once.

  • @susanbrynt
    @susanbrynt 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    I love this analysis as an Arizona fan. We should have 3 first round NFL picks this season (T=Mac, Davis, Jonah). And we may have the best LB in the conference (Jacob Manu). I am not saying that Arizona doesn't have weaknesses. With Jacory Crokskey-Merritt and Kedrick Reescano the UA offense is formidable. Analysts need to adjust. With the portal, you need to adjust. You have to adjust to late commits.
    I believe Arizona will be very good this year. And probably not so much in the future. Arizona has really good coaches, but probably won't sustain the momentum.

    • @WVUFootballGoinDeep
      @WVUFootballGoinDeep 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Whether or not they can sustain momentum may depend on whether or not they can build enough momentum, but sustaining it does depend a lot on the coaches and how they recruit. AZ should be good, but I think all the new teams will find the weekly grind is harder overall in the Big 12, which is a big part of why it should be so entertaining for fans week to week....and not just one game per week but almost every game.

      @@heartlandcollegesports I can write a book on the team since I follow it closely. I didn't want too far into it. But since you asked.
      The biggest problem is backup QB.
      Offense -
      Major drop-off if Fitita gets injured. Backup QBs are not ready. UA has a good OL, Jonah, Moe, Baker are experienced and all could make the NFL. The starting OL is good, depth us untested. Arizona has a really good RB core. Jacory Merritt, Kedrick Reescano, Quali Conley are very good. As far as WR, other than T-Mac, look for Malachi Riley. We are going to run a double TE offense. Most TE players are untested, but the quality is there. Other than backup QB, the offense is set.
      Defense -
      Other than CB Tacario Davis and LB Jacob Manu, there are other players you should know about in the secondary. The safeties are Dalton Johnson and Gunner Maldonado. The star is Treydan Stukes. All are experienced, all are vevy good. And they are likely to get drafted. We have a good backup in Genesis Smith. What we don't have is a P4 level 2nd corner. Losing Prysock to Washington hurt. Stukes may have to move to CB and Smith move to star. We are also untested with our 2nd LB. That could be a problem.
      The DL is good. But we did lose a lot. Getting transfer Kevon Darton from Syracuse helped. Lost a really good DE due to graduation. There is depth, and experience, but how good they are is yet to be determined.
      The rest -
      We have an NFL placekicker in Tyler Loop. But, not sure who is going to to the punting. The coaching staff is way underrated. The OC, Dino Babers, was HC at Syracuse, and was OC for Arizona in the 90s. Duane Akina was DC for Arizona during the 90s, and was DC for the Desert Swarm team. He coached 3 Jim Thorpe winners at DB (Daryl Lewis, Michael Huff, Aaron Ross). He says the defense is going to be more aggressive this season.
      Can't wait for the season to begin. I appreciate the enthusiasm of opposing teams' fans. I expect making the CFP, unless Fifita gets injured. Our ceiling is the semi-finals, but that means everything has to go right.
      I can't wait for the season to start. I am really looking forward to the away games at Kansas State and Utah. Those games are going to put everything into perspective.
