Dawn FM is a collection of love poems from Old Age Abel to a Female Caretaker in the Old Age Home.
Firstly this album is a fucking masterpiece!!!
Secondly I’ve realized that the whole concept of the project is a relationship between old abel and a female presences who seems to be a caretaker

    • @AJXO-30

Yes!!! It's him essentially warning his younger self to slow down with the fame and everything that comes with is (the rush).
Also admitting regrets and telling his younger self to do better.
Jumping back, older self is stuck in Purgatory and he has to review all his mistakes.
It's phenomenal when you know how it pieces together.

    • @luhohnel
      @luhohnel 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@shakaj1525 Bro just look at the track list. Gasoline gave it away from me. It’s clearly about an old drugged up man in an old age home presumably with a budding relationship with someone else. Then we get HOW DO I MAKE YOU LOVE ME, SACRIFICES, OUT OF TIME.
Bro the titles are telling a story of its own.
In BEST FRIENDS the caretaker says she’ll agree to have sex with old abel but he better not catch feelings which he already has.
Abel then asks Is There Someone Else as he feels the relationship is fading. He then pleads with her Don’t Break My Heart.
Then Abel’s finds out in Heard You’re Married that there is someone else and he says he hates that he has to share her.
Then He concludes that he knows he’ll never be enough for her in Less Than Zero
This album is a musical journey😭😭

      - that’s not it, basically in short imagine you are dead going to heaven in a car and the radio is playing this station and it narrates a story of regrets and failures and in the end Jim tells you how to transition to heaven. Even The Weeknd said this.

@@kelllsss2534 I'd be interested to see if the third albums ends in a way to where it circles back into After Hours. So the entire trilogy is a loop.

My favorite vocal performances on this album were in Every Angel is Terrifying and Phantom Regret by Jim and I wish they were developed into actual tracks because his vocals were incredible on those

The features weren’t great. Lil Wayne and Tyler were mid. Jim Carey was a nice edition. I could only replay this album as an entirety I don’t think I could listen to one of these songs by themselves apart from take my breath. Production was incredible though

you music reviewers have influence over your listeners. y’all gotta start giving the weeknd his flowers as one of the greatest and most talented artists to ever walk this planet along with having basically a perfect catelog in comparison to some of the other best catelogs ever. i’m every aspect of music making you can be good at. the weeknd is not only phenomenal but leagues and bounds ahead of almost every artist and the only artists that do certain things better lack in other things that the weeknd happens to be phenomenal at. consistency great at every. writing on the level as some of the best hophop writers ever with one of the best and most distinguishable voices in the industry

    • @thatguy1488

i say this because not enough people are acknowledging how this dude is basically undistputedly on the mount rushmore of music in general all genres. and if anyone wants to argue i promise the weeknd can clear anyone when you talk about EVERYTHING they bring to the table. even people like kanye mj and prince

I have the album on repeat! Only thing I’m disappointed is “Every Angel is Terrifying” not being an actual song. The intro with those vocals is MAGIC. I would’ve loved a song followed by it.

I think the features were picked perfectly because Tyler and Wayne are both EXCELLENT story tellers of this generation. I think the only thing missing was Kendrick Lamar, but honestly, that would be a little too expected and redundant.

    My review to this album…
I gotta say, it is so good! It’s definitely not After Hours for sure but I don’t think Abel was trying to compete with that particular album. I believe that this album can stand on its own two feet without comparisons being played into it. It has some really good songs and some mediocre ones (like any album). Some song’s endings have such beautiful flow and connectivity between songs that it makes you want to listen to the next tune in the album. I also thoroughly enjoyed the featured guests in the album. They all played incredible roles in creating this masterpiece. Jim Carrey being the “HOST” of the radio station, DAWN FM, was a really unique inquiry to the album and added a sense of realism as if you were listening to an actual radio broadcast. Overalll, a very beautiful, unique and intriguing album by The Weekend. It’s been a long while since I’ve been able to resonate with an album and I feel like this album defines my last 2 years perfectly well.

Was After Hours really that amazing?? I'm definitely not saying it's bad but I feel like Dawn FM definitely matches After Hours in terms of quality and I think both albums are prob tied for 3rd best behind Kiss Land and Trilogy
