- Lisa Gade reviews the HP ElitePad 900. This is a business 10.1" Windows 8 Pro tablet that runs on a dual core 1.5GHz Intel Atom CPU. It has a stylish and strong aluminum casing and Gorilla Glass 2. The 1.38 lb. tablet has 2 gigs of RAM and 32 or 64 gigs of solid state storage. The 1280 x 800 touch screen is excellent and it has 400 nits of brightness. The ElitePad's claim to fame come in the form of expansion jackets that add ports, an extended battery and even a keyboard. HP also sells a docking station with a full set of ports and dongle adapters for USB and VGA/HDMI out. Most models have T-Mobile HSPA+ 4G and AT&T HSPA+ is available too. It looks like a real work horse & very good for some business. I can't get over how many gadgets there are to buy extra. I have trouble keeping the electronics I already own together with their accessories. Very good in depth review as usual.

Good review but dang, when I initially heard about the hp elite pad before its release the specs were going to be a bit higher and have the optional digitizer.

thats why most come with an sd card slot for expanding the memory. you can also move the recovery partition onto a usb to get like 8gb back.
as far as the wp8 goes, what phone did you get? i have a 920 and it came with like 28gb free or something

hello, i have an elitepad, with a hdmi/vga adapter. but connecting with an external monitor goes wrong. on my external monitor i have no screen. do I something wrong or are there some settings i forgot?

Its much better than a standard android tablet,with its limits and all this tab is wortth the intel procesor,windows and also the sim slot and sd slot too.

Atom processors never fit my needs. Is there currently any i5 tablet that offers similar features as the Surface Pro, yet is officially cheaper? I keep coming across comments claiming the Surface Pro isn't worth the price tag yet none of them have pointed out a cheaper priced i5 tablet that offers everything it does -_-

So far so good,i enjoy using this gudget (hp elitepad 900) .but my problem is that iits not able to make WhatsApp video calls, Is there anyway it can be fixed or which windows can I use to get the WhatsApp video.
But currently am using windows 10.
The display is actually really lovely. Very sharp, bright and colorful.

maybe you should be looking at tablets with i5s instead of atom proccesors then. the screen resolution is due to the limitations of the atom. an i5 like the surface can and does tun 1080

Unfortunately such devices have no strong graphic units. Otherwise it would be very practical.
ACER ICONIA W3 RUNS DUAL CORE WITH EACH CORE AT 1.8GHZ two logical processors thus total four logical processors....AND almost same specs with better battery.
It's not RT, it's the full Windows so those who want a Windows device as their secondary device can get something like the HP ElitePad 900.
Looks identical to the Gen 1 IPad in a horizontal configuration.

It is a Nokia 710 and they were the original windows 7 phone, it basically has not room to expand, that is the reason why I love a phone that you can add a SD card, even google is frowning on expansion cards, but I will not buy a phone that does not have it, the phone when I got it the recipient wasn't going to take a lot of pictures or add apps, but that turn out to be not true and is either pictures or apps, no more room, and you can always rely on sky drive if u are in area with poor coverage
maybe because you can use classic microsoft products like office? I guess thats much more valuable to companies than a retina display and a few million "fun-apps"

I hate it how we in the developing world have to pay for Office 2013/Office 365 AFTER you've just spent thousands of dollars on a PC/laptop. In my country $1US= $6 so $600US= $3600 my currency and THEN you have to put out a few hundred dollars of your local currency to get Office 2013? Yeah right!
wow thats one complicated piece of tech, too much for the general consumer better tablets even one with windows 8 on them out there. And not a lot of businesses will be using it with all those addons.

Microsoft is shooting themselves on the foot, how can it be 64 GB and 30+ are already taken by the OS? I got a windows phone for someone that wasn't techie enough and did not wanted to sue it but, to make phone calls, the phone had almost all the storage full by the operating system, and it keeps telling me to delete files!! No more windows phones, much less a tablet, especially a that price.

That makes running old style applications (aka true x86 Windows applications) excruciatingly painful if not completely impossible.
With regard to the term "business" : Since when are business users fond of sluggish performance, ultra low-res screens and insufficient RAM ? In business, wasted time equals to wasted money. Not in a hundred years would I hand out this quirky contraption to my employees.
