  • Lisa Gade reviews the HP ElitePad 1000 Windows 8.1 tablet and a variety of jackets, batteries, dock and active pen that set this business oriented tablet apart from the pack. The ElitePad 1000 G2 runs Windows 8.1 64 bit on a quad core 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z3795 CPU with 4 gigs of RAM and it has 64 gigs of eMMC storage. The ElitePad 1000 has a 10.1” 1920 x 1200 IPS touch screen with Atmel active digitizer for the optional pen and it’s protected with Gorilla Glass 3. The tablet has dual band WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0, an 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera. It passes MIL-STD 810G tests, has a TPM and HP BIOS protection for security and a durable metal casing. It weighs 1.5 lbs. and is 0.36”/9.2mm thick. It sells for $620 on Amazon.

    Nice walkthrough, I nabbed a refurb on woot and it's cool to see all the extra gadgets. Upgrading to Windows 10 made it run loads faster and uses less of the oh so precious memory.

    Great review! Do you know if the pen would work on any Synaptics pen system such as the Dell Venue Pro? Thanks!

    I've been looking at purchasing the stylus for my elitepad 1000G2 but many product reviews on amazon and the likes complain about having difficulty drawing straight lines, that the line sometimes skip and that if your palm/meat of your hand (while using the pen) makes contact with the screen, it can cause random pen strokes and irregularities. Despite your overall positive experience, have any of these issues surfaced?
    Thank you.

    I have been using this tablet with LTE configuration for 6months. Didn't have $800+ for Pro 3 or +900 Pro 4. So its the next best thing for price...got it on ebay for $450 real cheap. I can bring it into work and and its very inconspicuous but highly functional. My configuration is 4GB ram 128GB hdd, with Keyboard jacket & docking station to go full Desktop. It also has Wireless display if you get the MS USB adapter for connecting to HDMI TV's. Great for Office, Internet, Email, OneNote

    I would say that this is expensive but it does quite a lot of work. But if I compare it to other tablets like the galaxy tab s I would probably not choose the HP. The HP tablet line in my opinion seems to be getting much bigger than I thought it would. Unlike this one their tablets are usually not that expensive like the HP stream 7. By the way nice review Lisa

    Everyone complaining about the price is just missing the point of an atom based tablet. I prefer using my Thinkpad 10 over my Surface Pro 2 because it has no annoying fans that go off when I'm doing something like watching youtube or netflix. That's why there's a market for this. If you can put up with the fan noise in all the other windows tablets then that's your prerogative. But I choose fanless just for the pure blissful quiet.

    More than $600 for a 64gb atom based tablet? Huge mistake there.
    The Asus t100 would be a much better option for half the price, and the surface pro 2 128gb with a core i5 can be bought for the same price as this

    • @mobiletechreview
      @mobiletechreview  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mil spec business tablets cost more than consumer devices like the Asus t100.

    • @jothain
      @jothain 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      MobileTechReview
      Who cares about mil specs if hardware for productivity is total garbage and apparently requires pleathora of accessories to be usable? Would never ever buy this rubbish, nor recommend it to someone. Besides if marketed as "mil grade" then submerge the device fully and drop it from about 1,5m to prove it's robust device. I highly doubt that it'll survive neither of those.

    • @mobiletechreview
      @mobiletechreview  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      jothain We actually did that with the 900 model that precedes this. Didn't see a point to abuse it again. HP sells these em masse to large businesses and the government-- it would come back and bite them if the units didn't survive. The idea of the jackets is to make the units into what your company needs, and to also add durability. Again, it's not a consumer-facing product, though the pen, slimness and sturdiness may be appealing to some consumers.

    • @jothain
      @jothain 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      MobileTechReview Hmm. I didn't notice any abusing on your 900 review quickly looking through it? For reviews there's _always_ a good purpose to make devices suffer.

    It is so silly. Just make a tablet with a USB. Microsoft can do it. My Winbook tablet has it. Its like these companies go out of their way to make things more difficult and less user friendly.

    • @wshwe
      @wshwe 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The lack of a built-in USB port is a major con. The entry-level Surface Pro 3 would make more sense for many people.

    • @richspanky72
      @richspanky72 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also have a Winbook and it has a full sized usb on a 7 inch tablet! It really is a nice feature.
      I wish they would release a 7 inch winbook with a little more internal storage and memory. I like the size for reading but it really struggles to run Chrome and some other apps because it only has 1GB of RAM. Still it is not a bad eReader and movie player for $59.
