  • And we are get the truck stuck again! Today we are spreading several loads of base rock material installing a new driveway for our cabin in the woods. Using Dirt Perfects John Deere 120 excavator to load his Tandem Axle Dump Truck. We are lucky enough to be able to have access and rent this equipment for out cabin building project. Be sure to check out our other videos of the new road for the youtube yacht project.

    I know others have commented on the funeral and you taking the time to not bother them while the service was in process. That just goes to show what most of us that watch your channel already know,. You are probably one of the most courteous and considerate people when it comes to the feelings of others. It shows not only with you but it is obvious that you (and Chelsea as well) have spread that way of life to your family. Keep up the amazing work Cap. Look forward to watching the TH-cam Yacht project grow.

    Two men were playing golf when a funeral procession passed by.
    One man took off his hat, bowed his head and snapped to attention.
    His buddy commented that he was very impressed with his sign of respect.
    The first man said . . .
    Well, she was a good wife to me!

    All those cows had me cracking up! So much curiosity then a sudden NOPE! TOO CLOSE! TIME TO GO! 🤣 Forest critters curious about all the stakes and strings. Pretty sure they decided to play a little. Road and parking area turned out well despite the slight mishap getting stuck. Diff lockers are nice, but being able to lock in tandem axles increases the traction. Probably would've pulled itself out at that point. I never understood why trucks with tandem axels didn't come standard with lockers to tie them together. Half of the situations I've seen would've been solved with both (or all three) axels getting drive power! It'll be cheaper than a tow truck and save a LOT OF TIME!

I know a local contractor that had a dozer slide off the trailer just pulling out of his driveway, so wise move to chain down there. Anxious to see that chirt geology study video; love that kinda stuff so that would be interesting. You might want to lock the diff before you go into the dirt. Looking at the video I'd guess it only locks the two drive axles together, not the axles themselves so you won't get any driveline bind up making turns.

    Nice video, and about the base rock material, we use something similar here in Denmark, called "stabilgrus" and it's the best base course material you can get, where there's no need for a sub-base course, and you can put the wearing course, or pavement, directly on top of it with no problems and it last for decades.

    Okay, load your gate, with latched. Then drop back down to just slightly up. Be in gear. Open gate start moving and raise bed as needed to empty. If you open and try to load and move you'll just make a mess, and make the hoop-de-do's. Same as going forward, load gate. Let bed down to just slightly raised. Be in gear. Start to move open gate and raise to kept empty even flow of material. It is easy! Now if road can not support the truck and sinks, then yes you will have to pile dump and spread with another piece of equipment!

    • @CaptainKleeman
      @CaptainKleeman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup. Like I said in the video. But can’t re latch gate once it’s open. So if a fella spins out the restart is always a little rough.

    • @KG-yn9qi
      @KG-yn9qi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CaptainKleeman let the bed down as soon as stop it will minimize the mess pile. Also that's why keep bed down low and only raise, To spread as needed. Load gate drop down to almost full down, start moving, then pop gate then move and raise slowly!

    Your road is getting better I'm glad you're happy with it would consider making some wider areas where I worked you could get by car coming other way on most of it and it made no difference what they drove on it you would never break the surface it had been a drive since before 1607 as that was when the house was built and additions had been added to it over the years last I heard the place is being ran as a hotel it's called Talhenbont Hall in North Wales

    Captain, it might be easier on the tractor to pull the pile apart with the pulverizer down the road. It might take several trips, but could be easier to level your road base. I have a boxscraper on my tractor 80-90% of the time. For counterweight and I use it more often for grading jobs.

    Another lovely video, Captain; I enjoy the little touches like waiting on the funeral and taking time to talk to the cows and the dog-nice. Over this side of the pond, no-one spreads from the truck at all, the first time I saw it [on one of Mike's videos, I believe], I was like-wow ! I still like watching it being done, and the greatest respect for anyone willing to try it. Well done, sir !!

    I like to think it was a deer getting caught in the string, and freaking out; much like we do when walking through a spider web. Also when the camera mount was broke I yelled KLEEEEMAAANNNN!!!

    If you really want fun drive / operate as paving machine, having to use end dump trucks. They back in to you start dump in hopper, then you push them and try to hand signal them to dump as needed to empty! All kinds of things go wrong! Driver pulls away from you or holds brakes on or just over dumps and does not hold in place on first dump and the load pushes him away dumping a big pile of burning hot asphalt in front of you. It is a lot of fun every driver is different. And different level of skill. Makes thing exciting!

      The paver operator can have bad days also,I had 1 push me thru a overhead power line, broke the cable and started a pretty healthy grass fire..when in a spreader box the driver has only 1 responsibility stay snuggly in the center of the box

      @@jackspringer9283 yes that's where the ground man is to be watching for problems. I have had to use loaders to transfer material to get under and past overhead lines.

    I was watching the Dirt Perfect video yesterday and noticed he loaded the same material quite differently, he grated it into the bucket rather than scooping up a full bucket. I suspected that would not clump as much. Just a thought.
