Nice video. I love this little bike. I have a 2019 500 but gave it to my wife last year and she loves it. Going to do some mods to it. Just a couple of questions. Does your bike have forward controls or maybe just the camera angle looks like does? Also the exhaust sounds like it's not that loud but I assume in person and around the neighborhood it's very loud? I am looking at upgrading the exhaust on her bike but these straight pipe style shortys worry me.

The bike has the standard mid controls you probably have on your 2019 Rebel 500.
I believe you are correct that it is just the view of the camera.
The Radiant GP exhaust isn't that loud, but it is missing that "Umph" that a cruiser should have!
I am looking into getting something with a little more deeper of a note like the Vans & Hines or alternative.
For a short fix, the Radiant GP exhaust will do, but I would just save the $60 and invest in a better one :)

Hey Tom! I would have to say that the Rebel 500 was more nimble than the RE.
The Rebel 500 is much lighter than the GT 650 (perhaps the overall positioning of the frame, engine, etc).

Man ive beeb riding my 500 scared then. im normally shifting into 6th around 45-50 thinking im going high on the RPMs. Good to see its able to keep up with the flow on the highway
Absolutely! The 500 can keep up with most highways with no problem 💪

Im looking for my first bike, and set on this one. But im wondering if its gonna be difficult not having a tachometer. I mean once im familiar with the sound i should be okay for gear. But is there a reason they wouldnt include this? Also, is this a good bike to cruise for a few hours on highway?
Hey there! You get used to the feel of going without tachometer. Especially the power and sound of the bike at certain rpms.
The bike is good at highway, just expect to top out at 80 mph and a slow progression to 90 mph

A lot of manual transmission cars I've driven don't have tachs, you shift by sound

I have an xsr900 and am gonna be getting a 600 super sport. But I really am thinking about selling my xsr 900 and getting this for around town fun. You think the bike is boring. I think the low seat height and a loud exhaust would make this thing hella fun and relaxing
Hey there! In my opinion, I would get the Honda Rebel 500 if I lived in a downtown city! This is where the bike shines.
Highway is a bit rough with the 500 since it doesn't have the weight, windscreen (just on my bike), and power means you need to ring out the bike pretty hard on highways.
A positive with this bike is you can really personalize it to your liking with all the parts available online!
Pro Tip: Buy used since it will take an apocalypse for it to die and you can find it cheap on Facebook Marketplace

Would you recommend the 500 as a starter bike for a 6’3 guy, or go straight for the Vulcan 650 for that extra bit of room/power?
Hmmm that’s a hard question to answer
I would say go up to a 650 or wait until the Honda Rebel 1100 and keep it in rain mode (if you go the new route)
What area do you live near? If you can find a dirt cheap Honda Rebel 500 like I did, buy used, test it out and get a feel for riding, then sell it and move up in cc if you want more power :)
At your height you might feel a bit cramped too, so try sitting on the Rebel at a dealership. Hope this helps!!

I’m from Toronto so there’s a lot of city riding mixed in with a lot of 30+ min highway riding if you wanna go see out of town friends/ catch some scenic views, do you think the 500 could hold up at 75mph speeds for that long? That’s pretty much my biggest concern.
And unfortunately not a lot of used options up here cause of the colder climate, not as many riders buying and selling. Keep up the good work though, subscribed now!

I do plan on atleast testing the 1100 Rebel once it comes out :) I only plan on buying it if my girlfriend (who rides the Rebel 500) continues to ride with me.
I think the Rebel 500 can absolutely handle 75 mph very easily! It’s when you go past 85 mph where you really have to full throttle it (mainly used when cutting people through traffic). If you use it for city riding, Rebel 500 is perfect! Check out my city riding POV on the Rebel 500 on my channel. The low end torque and speed is wonderful and meant for city riding.

I am only 5'6" and I felt a little cramped on this bike so I gave to my wife. A used VStar or Shadow or similar might be better in size without insane power or weight.
You think you're gonna upgrade to a rebel 1100? I'm fairly new to riding but I'm super interested in a 500 or 1100. I currently have a grom for riding around town at the moment.

I live in Phoenix. You make the 500 look awesome! But you're right, I should go straight for the new 1100 then? A lot of people say the rebel is very beginner friendly.
I would still say get the 500 first to even see if you enjoy riding 😊
Plus by that time, you can find a 1100 on the used market! The 500 is more than enough power for the first year or two IMO

I’m 6’ 1 and 235, I am also 17 looking for a first bike, this one has stood out to me quite a bit. Would this be a good first bike for me? Any other suggestions if not?

I am personally 5' 7" and weight 180 lbs.
I used to be about 225 lbs when I got my bike and so your weight won't be an issue at all.
At 6' 1" you will probably feel a bit cramped on the Rebel 500, but I suggest sitting down on one first.
Overall this is a perfect starter cruiser bike!

if you're still looking I'm 6ft2'' 215lbs and have had my Rebel 500 for a year now. I'm not feeling cramped and I've done 10k km during this year on it. It's a solid bike that with a few modifications can do everything!
Which bar clamps did you end up using to flip the mirrors?

worked well, just honestly was very hard to see with them
I would recommend getting bar ends, but I know its a process to install

I would go with the rebel 500! I’m 5 7 and weighed 220 when I had the rebel 500 and it still pulled on the road :) you’ll have plenty of fun on this bike

Riding position is very comfortable unless you are extremely tall.
You must not have much wind. Where I live (Seattle area) highway speeds usually mean a 20+ mph wind coming from some direction and it blows the little 500 all over the place. That makes it not an ideal highway cruiser to me. I also have a Triumph Tiger 800, that bikes cruises at 75 all day and doesn’t care about the wind.

Houston is very mild with the wind so I usually don’t feel pushed around on the Rebel 500. I want to ride a tiger 800 one of these days!

I have a Yamaha R6 that I have owned for like 7 years, currently thinking about getting a cruiser added to the stable. I'm very much considering a Honda Rebel as my 2nd bike.
Its a great second bike! Just dont expect super fast speeds on it
Also, you can get rebels for CHEAP on fb marketplace with top tier reliability

@@EspressoRacer yeah, I saw on offerup that they are quite affordable and it's a Honda so it's going to last. I know it won't be as quick as the R6 but I want something a bit more comfortable to ride and I'm even considering doing long distance on it. But it's a 500 so I dunno how the engine is going to like being on the highway for such a long time. I'm hoping it won't be screaming too much on the highway cruising around 80ish.

If anyone is trynna guess what speed he’s going just realize 80 is the usual cruising speed on non congested highways in Texas (even if the posted speed is 55 due to construction… you go 70 at minimum)
Hell I30 in fort Worth has a posted limit of 60 and 65 but you’ll have someone ridding your ass if you do those speeds I guarantee it

Best tip for the rebel 500 is to have fun with it and modify to your liking. Stock form is good, but if you add a little bit your personal touch to it, a little can go a long way :)

Funny story, I rode the Rebel 500 for a week and neglected my GT650 for that week.
I got on the GT650 this Saturday and could not stop smiling for the first 30 minutes from how much faster and more torque it has! Plus the GT is stunning comparatively :)
