- One of the biggest players in the world of artificial intelligence is back with a new product. OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, is launching Sora, which can create realistic videos from a few typed instructions.

So far, this powerful new tool has only been released to a select group of people in order, its creators say, to allow for constructive feedback and safety testing.
But Sora presents ever more questions for the regulators trying to understand and control the dangers of this fast developing technology.

this would greatly accelerate production times in the film industry, you can instantly turn a script into a storyboard, and i believe this is the next big step for cgi (or aigi - artificial intelligence generated imagery). it can also be used in fast fashion to generate unique patterns.
Also it will be a tool to scam, this is awful
Oh boy! I can’t wait for them to charge us the same price for movies without putting in any work for it and cutting out nearly all the jobs for it, just so even more money goes to one person at the top of the companies, making the rich richer and the poor poorer. 🙃

If you read the their research material, its clear that their focus is building world simulators and the videos are almost a by product.
How can we trust that this video itself isn't completely generated by AI?
If it was or wasn't would it really make any difference this is the same old propaganda program they always put out every day anyway.

I remember them saying at my school in early 10's to pick a 'future proof' creative job as it will never be matched or taken over by robots, that the technical work and effect will shoddy at best and even not even be possible, turns out that became a lie, I'm worried about my fellow creatives, and the human spirit we embody!

It's not a problem of AI, but of malicious men misusing it. What we need at this point is a very very strong regulation to deter sinister intentions of bad guys while taking away the benefits of high tech engineering like AI. It's always happening in that way. Every cutting edge technology has always been misused in the hands of evils first, usually using as a tool to kill more in battlefield and then transfered to the use of ordinary citizen's benefits. AI is not an exception in this category. What we need is to discuss how to control the bad guys, rather than tech itself.

When there's no more real photos or movies being made because AI has been been making them for so long that the only thing to draw from is other AI or some kind of lost kingdom pay on demand library for the old real life relic photos and videos. Eventually the world will be seen as an obscure interpretation through media a lot more so than it is already and people will have a shock when they actually leave the safety of their comfy house and see the apocalypse already happened without them knowing while living off take outs and AI created media. 😅

Big deal! In all 'Art' there must be a relationship between circumstances of authorship and final product. A.I. will not last, as its credibility and vacuous veracity wanes in the human perceptive psychae. The cycle of human creativity will renew. But if we're all boring, lame and useless s.o.b's, I guess it has a place.
Won’t be long before an ai can act with subtlety, with.. humanity, and give us all the same feelings as if it were a real person performing. We’re going to be through the looking glass sooner rather than later. And we have born this into the world. Maybe the AI consciousness will grow out of greed and murder so it might not be all bad, but us meat sacks days are numbered.
