- Kyiv says it’s using artificial intelligence to target Russian positions and counter Moscow’s firepower advantage - with some claiming Ukraine is the “first digital war” and the dawn of a deadly AI arms race.

With superpowers battling for AI supremacy, experts say artificial intelligence will “completely change the entire frameworks on which we base war”.

As a side note, most battlefield staff work is done on Excel using various functions to quickly pick a path through an ever branching tree of preset options depending on the evolving situation. Incredibly simplistic example:
AP minefield encountered - If True - pause and call engineer assets/If False - assault first trench line.
First trenchline taken - If True - send drone to recon second trenchline/If False - Unit Combat Effective Yes/No If Yes Unit requires reinforcement Yes/No
If Yes Unit requires fire support
If Yes Unit requires drone support
Etc etc etc allows preset decisions to be considered based on real-time inputs
The Palantir demo video is effectively that Excel option tree overlaid across a map that can be updated in real time with friendly and enemy assets.
Excel is one of the most powerful tools at Regiment and Brigade level

The most difficult aspect about war is getting accurate and relevant data. The Fog of War has plagued tactical and strategical commanders since the beginning of warfare.

However: This video suffers of the disease of many youtube videos: superfluous and annoying background music. It's tiring attending to the narration over the background music, masking the topic of the video and mostly adding nothing to the content. Narration or music is fine but one on top of the other is distracting.
Empires fall when their economy crumbles under runaway military spending, coupled with economic inequality leading to social unrest.
Maintaining the military end of an empire is expensive. You need a well-maintained economy that is stable in the long run. This is what we amateur, armchair historians often underestimate. A budget deficit can only be maintained for so long until it becomes crippling.
Usually, the end comes in form of a war. Not necessarily in the form of a defeat: both the UK and France were on the winning side of both World Wars, but they lost their empires regardless. The strain on economy and resources, coupled with the colonies no longer wanting to be colonies, proved to be too much. The USSR was simply arms raced to death, although the final straw was probably Afghanistan.
The US has, since about the end of the Cold War, been perilously close to the point of no return, in the opinion of people who know about this sort of things. Inequality has caused widespread poverty, even as the richest have become even richer. The US has spent a completely disproportionate amount of the national budget on defense. The budget deficit is basically out of control, even though Democrat Presidents have tried their best.
And last year, the richest got their taxes lowered, the middle class got their taxes raised, and the military got more funding which wasn’t covered by increased tax income.
The US should choose its next war wisely. It is likely to be their last.
It’s like self driving cars, they don’t need to be prefect, just better. So in the end Ai in warfare and self driving cars are coming.

The more deadly and harder war gets will lessen the outbreak of war in the first place.Combatant`s will have to weigh their chances where a bigger numerical force could be beaten with smarter tactics. I think this will make for less fighting not more.

The enemy losses were up to 95 Ukrainian servicemen, one tank, four armoured fighting vehicles, four pickup trucks, one Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system and one D-30 howitzer.
In South Donetsk direction, two enemy attacks have been repelled by artillery and heavy flamethrower systems of the Vostok Group of Forces close to Urozhaynoye (Donetsk People's Republic).
In addition, the actions of an Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups have been disrupted close to Priyutnoye (Zaporozhye region).
In Zaporozhye direction, as a result of selfless and coordinated actions of Russian troops, an enemy manpower and hardware concentration area of the 106th Territorial Defence Brigade have been hit near Lugovskoye (Zaporozhye region).
The enemy losses were over 200 Ukrainian soldiers, two infantry fighting vehicles, two armoured fighting vehicles, three motor vehicles, two Gvozdika self-propelled artillery stsems, one Msta-B howitzer, and one British-manufactured AF-90 self-propelled artillery system.
One ordnance depot of 44th Artillery Brigade of the AFU has been destroyed near Orekhov (Zaporozhye region).
In Kupyansk direction, the attacks, launched by Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, and artillery of the Zapad Group of Forces, have resulted in the neutralisation of the AFU manpower and hardware close to Krasnoye Pervoye, Sinkovka, Masyutovka and Timkovka (Kharkov region).
The activities of one Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group have been suppressed close to Novosyolovskoye (Lugansk People's Republic).
The enemy losses were over 25 Ukrainian servicemen, three motor vehicles, Giatsint-S and Akatsiya self-propelled artillery systems, one D-20 howitzer, as well as one U.S. manufactured M777 artillery system.
In Kherson direction, the enemy losses were up to 80 Ukrainian servicemen, 11 motor vehicles, and two Akatsiya self-propelled artillery system.
Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have neutralised 97 artillery units of the AFU at their firing positions, manpower and military hardware at 114 areas.
Air defence facilities have shot down one Su-25 aircraft of Ukrainian Air Force near Odarovka (Zaporozhye region).
21 HIMARS and Uragan rocket-propelled projectiles have been intercepted.
In addition, 13 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have been destroyed close to Velykaya Lepetikha (Kherson region), Pologi, Konovalova (Zaporozhye region), Shipilovka (Lugansk People's Republic), Volodino, Valerianovka and Staromikhailovka (Donetsk People's Republic).
In total, 452 airplanes, 241 helicopters, 4,921 unmanned aerial vehicles, 426 air defence missile systems, 10,566 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,135 fighting vehicles equipped with MLRS, 5,370 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 11,493 special military motor vehicles have been destroyed during the special military operation."

A Lancet would be shredded by FN MAG from half a mile. So far it taken anti-tank mines to immobilise Leopard tracks and Ka-50s throwing Vikhr anti-tank missiles at them from a 10km stand off in the dark to confirm kill the Leopard. Top end commercial drone could deliver it pizza, but a hand-grenade drop is pretty useless against an MBT. I’m aware the Lancet can carry an artillery shell, but how fast? Modern tank armor requires some pace in the round for penetration & damage.
