Sick. I got a 2002 R/T standard cab with 27k miles on it that I bought back in 2004, and has spent more time in my garage than on the road. I have been doing an overhaul since last year, and really want to go with Viper interior and wheels now that I have finished the body and motor upgrades =) Great video! These old Dakota R/T's sure are a convo starter out there lol.
Thanks! I've gone back and forth about viper seats. They look awesome, but what will I do with my back seat. Definitely a good upgrade for you since yours is a regular cab.
Thanks man! Helps a lot, got the same wheels as well so this is valuable information. I was planning on getting the 1.25 spacers and at the same time I was worried that it might stick out too far and if I go shorter size might not be enough clearance in the front. From there going bigger size in the front and shorter in the rear will look funny. You definitely saved me some bills. Pretty excited about it, this is going on solar yellow RC R/T.
Hey no problem. Thanks for watching. Definitely make sure to double check clearance on the back side of the lower control arm if you use 1/4" in the front like I did. I had some very slight rubbing on the inside of the wheel (might have happened when I was running without a spacer in the front). Little grinding on the lower control arm and good to go.
this is a very late comment. I am putting the same wheels on mine as soon as the order gets shipped here. Suppose to not need spacers for these wheels. Just a little work with a grinder on the front control arms. Also the stock size r/t tires are 28" tall 255/55/17 not 27".
Interesting I thought if you went with the Rattler square setup that you didnt need any spacers to prevent rubbing on anything. Im thinking about buying a set now - good to see what tire size fits thanks
It’s more like a car than a truck. I just don’t get sport trucks. I’d prerunner that thing with 17x9’s and an air locker with a two inch body lift and call it a day.
Been running the stock SLT 16x8s 245/70 as a 29.5" tire on my 04 quad cab basically since day 1, been looking to go with a viper wheel or even just the stock RT wheel but trying to keep the 29.5" tire being I believe the 2wd can max at a 31" it's a pain to find tires for sure.
I’m sure the ride is or was awful. I did this with corvette wheels on my 00 S10 extreme. The two inch spacers made the ride at 65+ terrible! I put 20 in R/T wheels on my 00 R/T Dakota.
Thanks for the helpful tips with your set up, I have been wanting to run some viper wheels on my Dakota but I want the the 18x10 version with the spokes like the srt10 ram, I wonder if 1/2 and 3/4 spacers would clear like the “rattlers” you have running
I think you will actually need larger spacers for those wheels. Mine are off of a Gen 5 Viper which had a different offset than the older gen Vipers. Here is a link to BoostetMotorsports video of him installing those style wheels on his Dakota. th-cam.com/video/R6DBruHsfDY/w-d-xo.html
Hey Mitchell, badass RT! Love the color selection of the caliper powerboat. I noticed you have calipers in the rear. How were you ablw to do that upgrade? I'm looking to swap my drums to calipers one day. Thanks.
They are actually stock. My truck is a 2003. I believe in 2003 rear disc brakes were standard with single piston fronts. Mine also has dual piston fronts that were an option.
How’d you lower your truck man? Been looking at options for my 99 RT and can’t decide wether to go the lowering spring route or the control arm route. Any advice is appreciated and I Love the truck man!
Thank! The hub centric spacers I’m using are Bora spacers that I picked up from CustomOffsets.com I will warn you, they are made to order. I had to wait 2 months for one set. Lead time might be better now though.
I don’t know of any unfortunately. I rarely ever see them. I had a hard time just getting a new center cap for one of mine. Occasionally a set will pop up on the “Dodge Dakota R/T Classifieds” Facebook page.
Are those Durango mirrors I noticed they have basically the same mounts when I parked it next to another one and I was wondering about if you can swap them over
How much room do you think.you have on the inside of the rear tire? I'm thinking of running a 305/45/18 rear tire and need to order the spacers. If I went .75 inch, do you think the larger tire would clear the frame?
I would think you will have enough space. Lots of guys run 355 wide on viper wheels. 305 is only 0.4 inches wider than my 295. Divide that in half and add it to 0.25 inch difference in spacers gives you 0.45 inches less clearance on the inside. I will swing by the shop tomorrow and measure just to confirm.
@@davidh6094 you shouldn’t have a problem with a 305 tire. I measured 3.25 inches clearance between tire and leaf spring, and 4.5 inches between tire and frame. The center caps are 2 inch Ram center caps. I’m not sure on the model number.
How did you get the Dodge center caps to fit? I have some 2 1/8 Dodge center caps but they wont pop in, I have seen the viper are 2 1/8 but pins are different
What head lights and running lights (turn signal) do you have on your dakota. I need to replace mine and undecided what to get. Yours look good. I got some Anzo and returned them because they could not be adjusted, light beam pointing directly to the floor, just 3 - 4 feet in front of my bumper
They were actually on it when we get the truck. I believe they are stock with Mopar clear corners (no longer made). I would check out the Depo lights. Lots of guys seem to run those.
Go stock and upgrade bulbs and add Led halos if you want. Nothing quite fits like the stock ones. If you do decide to go aftermarket stay away from Spyder and Spec-D. I have had both on my Dakota and they are terrible. Bad fit, and cheap leds that burn out fast.
Great video. Thanks for info. I love the way your truck sits and I want mine to sit the same. I needed this.

Bad ass Dakota. A lot of wheel spacers sir! You need that Bora sponser
Thanks! Lots of trial and error. Measurements are only so good till you actually see it. Lol
Wish I could find factory RT wheels for my build! Love the truck

Nice! I subscribed for the intro, alright alright alriiight!
I was lucky to find black 15×8 Pro rallys for $50, put on 255/60R15's Cooper Cobras for my 2000 Dodge Dakota......love the look....
Great deal!

Love the content, and specific details! One question what year is the viper wheels from,or is it just a particular model?
Thank, I appreciate it!
I believe they came on the Gen 5 SRT model Vipers (2013 - 2017)

Bad ass Dakota. I have trying to get 1.25" centric spacers a good quality with out success. Any suggestions where can I buy those? THX

Stock chrome only came on 02 and 03 if I remember correctly but you can get the silver ones dipped in chrome. I've owned 2 02s both had chrome stock

They came on the wheels from the seller, but I believe they are a regular size Ram center cap.
What rear brakes are those
What are all the specs I’d like to put Viper wheels on my 1999

Did the Dakota lugs work in the viper wheels?
I'm sure they would have, but mine were pretty nasty looking. I went with Monster Lugs 35 series. 1/2 x 20
@@mitchellsgarage9366 I appreciate all of the help. My new Rattlers showed up, and I'm patiently waiting on tires
What type of lowering kit do you have on the truck?
Would you sell the 1.25 spacers?
How long are your front lug studs?
👌 Name of outro song?
It's called Checklist by Damma Beatz. Downloaded from Epidemic Sounds.
can I buy your old wheels and tires
Let me buy your chrome oem wheels🔥
What spacer would you recommend for the rear 19x13 rims?
I think most people run a 1.25” spacer on those. Not sure what the offset is exactly on them.
Ok thanks and badass truck🤘
What wheels are those black ones? The5 star ones
They are Rattler wheels off of a gen 5 Viper.
Is this a stock height ? I have a 1999 RT with rear drums
No, I think it is a 4/6 drop but I’m not positive since it was already that way when we got the truck.
Do they have this for 5 lug..
There might be some reproduction wheels out there that are 5 lug. Factory viper wheels are all 6 lug though.
kota journey da haha..
Who has affordable viper wheels ?? Lol
Ew! At less less he didn't us washer as "spacers" though! Damn mang!
Will you sale the Dakota rims?
No sorry, the Dakota wheels are not for sale.
Appreciate the video but could you BE any more long winded
