That blue Original Slip 5 was the first lakky I ever put in a pole way back in 1994. Twenty eight years later I still use it in my match kits - never been bettered by another brand or Preston for silvers!
Well done Joe, many people must be have been confused until they watched this. I would recommend this video to anyone starting out on the pole fishing path. Top, top job.
Brilliant vid Joe………explained really clearly and options offered for people to consider. I’m ok these days but this would’ve been gold dust a few years back. I’m sure many will appreciate you putting this vid out. Well done.
Great video Joe I use original slip for all my winter fishing can't beat it I use No5 & 6 for commercial for silvers and have tamed a lot of carp on this with the side puller as they don't fight so much in the colder weather. As the weather warms up and the carp start feeding I use the Preston Dura slip 13 white for open water and 15 red for margins great stuff it's a shame they don't do this in 5m length so I could do two kits from one pack but it is a lot cheaper than hollow Dacrons all the way so neat and less tangles I try not to use the DIAMOND eye threader though they are great in what they do when I change my elastic I tie the old to the new and pull it through when ready to change. Thanks Joe content well explained🎣🎣
Nice video Joe but one thing that always confuses me is the sizing. Is it consistent across the ranges for the diameter of the elastic and the expected size of fish being targeted?
When I started pole fishing a year ago, everybody recommended me to go for the 7 of the dura slip hybrid elastics since im fishing for bream on naturals. Imo it stretches way to much to control the fish so Im thinking about switching over to a much heavier dura slip like 13 or maybe use the original latex slip elastic... what do you think?
I sometimes think a full top kit of elastic is too much. I often just use one section of elastic when fishing naturals. That way I cam still use a light 5 or 7 so I don't bump roach etc but can bottom it out if needed to deal with bigger fish. Try it 👍
For years I used to get the wife on end of top kit with hoover to suck elastic throu.... defo beats anything on the market..... use diamond eye threader when Mrs is at work ha ha ha
If that's the case your not putting your dacrons on correctly old plastic connectors limit the methods you can fish and are overall just not as effective as dacrons

Great for the beginner. Nicely done. You did, however, forget to show the picture of the puller bung.
Concise but, comprehensive, well done Joe!

Nice, easy to understand video Joe
Love the original slip.

Yea brill once you already have elastic in to just tie them together 👍

Bought some this season. Size 6 and 10. It was porous and snapped every time I tried to tie a knot in it. Switched to the Drennan range. No problems.
Which 6 and 10?
@@MatchFishingFilms Preston slip.
That 11 hollo red is amazing stuff 👍🏻
It's brilliant
Nice video Joe but what should I be using for carp up to 20lbs but average at around 14
Excellent explanation
Glad it was helpful!

@@MatchFishingFilms Thats a great idea! cheers!
I still use original slip double 8 for all my carp fishing, nothing better in my opinion.
Works well

In my experience dacron connectors cut my elastic so I went back to plastic connectors.
Out of interest did you lasso the dacron around the elastic?
@@MatchFishingFilms just tied a knot through the dacron.
Can you do an idiot guide (me) on tying my rig to a Dacron connector got a new pole all with dacrons and never used in my life? Thanks Joe. Rich

@@marcwilkinson7226 still a great option for newcomers though Marc!
Best vid on the subject so far. No wonder, being an idiot !🤓
I'm the idiot 🤣
