When it comes to session length for me it’s 2-3 nights at a time. I work a stressful job with long hours and the time on the bank lets me rest, chill and look after my mental health. As someone who has suffered with depression fishing literally saved me.
That’s a good reason to spend a few days getting some respite! I prefer getting out more regularly helps keep my head on track, but we all do things around our own circumstances
Short sessions for me lately, saves on the baggage and lowers my expectations. I’m loving the relaxed approach too. Setting out after the morning rush and finishing just before the light goes is where it’s at for me. I’m chilled, the drive is pleasant and the bonus of catching without the setup of a bivvy and assorted extras is fantastic. Thought lines all 👌🏻🎣👍🏻
I prefer 24 to 48hr sessions. I find I can get on the fish knick a few and be able to move if they have done the off! I have had so much success doing this plus with work and family life it's well earned little escape where I can relax and fully concentrate on my fishing. Another great little video, keep em coming!

As I’m older and disabled longer sessions make more sense for me than shorter sessions. This is my local lake. Light leads bottom baits in the margins over some scattered freebies or hemp and pellets have been successful for me. Never seen anything or had anything bigger than 21. The bigger fish are long gone.
I grab short 3-5 hour sessions after work and love using location, observation and knowledge of the lake to try and catch, I often find the the lakes less busy and manage to catch a few carp 😊

I like doing long sessions, but often it's just 24hrs. I will take any oppurtunity to get down the club lake, so if I have an hour or so to spare I'm out the door. Does help that the lakes are less than 10 minutes away.
It depends on the weather for me. If it’s warm and sunny then a short session so I can make sure I’m in the beer garden for afternoon beers in the sun. If it’s cold and wet then upto 24 hours.
Great Video Shaun and well done on the lovely scaley park lake mirror . 53 now and for last 15 years or so I've been a short session angler , find em' give them something they wanna' eat and touch wood "knock" catch one or two. Shorter sessions I think make anglers sharper and earn their catches on limited time. A lil pre baiting if at all possible then a quick short session seems to pay dividends. The fishmeal S7 is/would be my bait of choice . Cheers guys , and good luck ALL 🤞 Steve M
Totally agree. I think it’s more rewarding being successful on limited time. I don’t get bored on longer sessions, but I get frustrated sat in one spot. Much prefer moving around and ‘hunting’ them.
48hrs watch the water and see the fish.Newly back to the bank 2 years off following 2 strokes last year and a heart attack 5months ago desperate to get out 🤞🏻

Another great video. For me it has to be short sessions as that is what works for me around other commitments. Also feel it makes me work harder so when I do get the chance of a longer session I end up being a bit lazy.😅
For me as my partner also has her own bivvy and rods, it's always a min of 48hrs, bbq/firepit, can of thatchers, job done.....just being out in nature in the quiet is good enough, any fish is a bonus
If the Weather is looking good for it then fishing on my syndicate water which is a 50 acre gravel pit that’s up to 20 odd feet deep in places would be my first choice especially with several Target Fish In mind so a 24 -48 hr session is required.Taking on board the atmospheric pressure & wind direction is something to consider as well as the ambient temperature & above all what time of year it is . When doing short stints of say 4-12 hrs I would usually go to a shallower water such as my Club water or local Canal or river as locating & seeing showing carp is a lot easier. Not saying short stints on a large mass of water is not beneficial as during th winter months a good 4-6 hr daytime session can pay dividends if on the Carp ! Horses for courses as the saying goes , but generally I’ll mix it up throughout the Seasons !
I love longer sesions just time to rtelax the day to day of stress...but in the last few months ive only managed day sessions 8hrs max ...great vid and nice mirror :)
With disabilities I find a minimum of 24hrs and ideally 48 more relaxing. Used to do lots of short sessions but with all the crap expected by most lakes I find short sessions to much like hard work. The wife and I also do one or 2 5-7 nighters each summer which we both really enjoy.
If it works for you that’s what counts! It’s interesting to see how varied we all our with time on the bank, tactics and venues etc. Shows how it’s such a personal past time and we all make it what we want 👍
I'm much happier going 6 to 8 hr's regularly , where I can have my rigs and bait all worked out before i arrive . I do still enjoy a weekender if it's with some pals , potentially on a new water where we have a bit of a drink and cook together and make it a bit of a match . Bristol Docks and the Feeder Canal are great for short evening sessions and are free water . There's about a dozen spots around the whole of the docks and there's a bit of everything because it has a number of weirs emptying into it as well as the flood from the seven filling up the feeder at an amazing pace. I've had regular bream of 4 to 5lbs , there's carp in the early 20's and a huge stock of dace and plenty other silvers , skimmers etc. It makes for a different sort of session being right in the city centre .
@@TheFishingBloggers I believe there's still free water areas amongst the club sections , Baltic Warf, Bristol Bridge , the footbridge beside the Thekla nightclub boat. I hope so anyway mate , else I've been getting away with it unknowingly . 🤐
@@HitTheBricks89 I mean the cost of driving into Bristol and all the parking! As long as you keep yourself to yourself you can fish any of the docks, no one really minds.

Have even caught one from under a sheet of ice with the lake half frozen.
Nice catch mate. I don`t really have a preference as I like to do it all - short sessions and even up to 10 days at a time sessions. Short sessions for me at the moment like yourself due to family commitments. 24-48hr seems bliss and can’t wait to get the opportunity to do it. How did you go about finding the free lake?
I’ve always known about it, but most councils list their green spaces online and have any waters on there. The other way is to Google maps search for places and see if you can find who has the rights to the water….most ‘urban’ venues tend to have open access
In the USA, 99.9% of carp waters are free (with the exception of a $35 “annual” fishing license). Sounds great if you live in the UK I guess, but it can be very difficult to find “consistently” good venues depending where you live. And, with few exceptions, you can forget about catching a 30lb+ carp. That said, I’ll still take mid-to-upper-doubles all day long👍

The bug is a great bait 👌
I like doing long sessions, but often it's just 24hrs. I will take any oppurtunity to get down the club lake, so if I have an hour or so to spare I'm out the door. Does help that the lakes are less than 10 minutes away.
On the door step always helps with getting some session 👍
It depends on the weather for me. If it’s warm and sunny then a short session so I can make sure I’m in the beer garden for afternoon beers in the sun.
If it’s cold and wet then upto 24 hours.
😂😂😂
Priorities in order 🍺
Great Video Shaun and well done on the lovely scaley park lake mirror .
53 now and for last 15 years or so I've been a short session angler , find em' give them something they wanna' eat and touch wood "knock" catch one or two. Shorter sessions I think make anglers sharper and earn their catches on limited time.
A lil pre baiting if at all possible then a quick short session seems to pay dividends. The fishmeal S7 is/would be my bait of choice .
Cheers guys , and good luck ALL 🤞
Steve M
Totally agree. I think it’s more rewarding being successful on limited time. I don’t get bored on longer sessions, but I get frustrated sat in one spot. Much prefer moving around and ‘hunting’ them.
Due to work I prefer the long sessions to get away from it all. It's all about the long game for me, baiting a swim and enjoying nature
That’s fair enough, we all do it for our own reasons and enjoying it is the important part!
48hrs watch the water and see the fish.Newly back to the bank 2 years off following 2 strokes last year and a heart attack 5months ago desperate to get out 🤞🏻
Hope you can get out soon 👍
A great vlog as usual. Wish we had a park lake like that. I usually go on sessions of around 4 to 6 hours and try to do a 48hr session once a month. I only have 1 car and my wife needs it mostly for work.
That’s always tricky only having one motor, thankfully I’ve got the van just for fishing!
Love going on short sessions with my mate small venues have a catch up and a coffee great video keep it up
Do you fish better on short sessions?
Day session for me 8hrs plus normally get out fortnightly, only do overnighters 2 or 3 times a year due to a dodgy knee.
Another great video.
For me I've just got into night's
I go straight from work Friday evening to Saturday 1pm ish
An extended overnighter 👍
My son and I prefer 6hrs to 24hrs as that keeps us happy and the wives 😂 Great mid-week carp fishing fix 🎣🎣 keep up the good work
Will do, new video every Tuesday!
Handsome carp and spot on observations about dogs and their owners (from an angler and dog owner...)
I don’t own a dog myself, but deal with the result of poor dog control at work!
@@TheFishingBloggers I've had dogs all my life and like to class myself as a responsible dog owner. Unfortunately, not everybody can be bothered, just look at some of the kids.!?.
@@billcollins6705 I know, it’s sad to see
I prefer short sessions I have the same issue with childcare but with some pre baiting it can make life so much easier 🤞keep up the grind boys
I find pre baiting hard to fit around day to day, my free time normally means I’m just going fishing!
That’s a nice mirror for a little park lake. Usually battered and bruised.
Yea lovely fish, there’s some nice ones in there!
Just started teaching my son how to fish, he was handed down a couple of carp rods from my late father, i moved to sea fishing 20 years ago but now im starting to get the carp fishing bug.... well when he lets me have a go of his rods that is lol. hes already caught a 15lb 4oz mirror
That’s awesome! Hope he gets the bug 😊
@@TheFishingBloggers he certainly has. I have tried to take him sea fishing but he hated it as I primarily fish sea in the winter and it was too cold for him.
@@Lemonandjaysfishing that’s fair enough, worth having a go but don’t want to put him off!
Awesome watch as always cracking mirror as to sessions I like 48-72hr at the moment I'm stuck 4-6 hrs sessions as awaiting heart bypass surgery soon as that sorted ill be back to longer sessions onto the adventure tightlines look forward to the next video 🎣 👊
Do you find yourself more productive on the short sessions?
In-between for me, means I get to explore more venues. And try different things to see what works
More time on the bank definitely helps for travel and going to different places
Great vlog 👍 I enjoy the shorter sessions where I can move around the lake stalking the fish 🐟
I’m with you there, more interesting and active 👍
Nice vlog. Being an Oap love short session fishing 6 hours are great.🤗🎣
Thanks 🙏
Short session for me bite are more rewarding knowing your doing it right 😊
100%
Easier to fish at 100% for short periods than it is for long session. Most angler if they are honest don’t fish at full steam on longer trips
48hr weekend sessions for me, although over winter months prefer to do days!!
Never been much of a weekend angler, always avoided weekends!
Short up to 5 hours is great. Great vid throughly enjoyed it look forward to the next one
Thanks, check out this weeks 👍
Can’t beat a short session at the weekend mate 👍
I steer clear of weekends if I can!
Another great video. For me it has to be short sessions as that is what works for me around other commitments. Also feel it makes me work harder so when I do get the chance of a longer session I end up being a bit lazy.😅
100% be lucky 👍
For me as my partner also has her own bivvy and rods, it's always a min of 48hrs, bbq/firepit, can of thatchers, job done.....just being out in nature in the quiet is good enough, any fish is a bonus
That’s great that you spend the time with your partner. If you can’t enjoy blanks then why bother, it’s always about just being there first 👌👍
If the Weather is looking good for it then fishing on my syndicate water which is a 50 acre gravel pit that’s up to 20 odd feet deep in places would be my first choice especially with several Target Fish In mind so a 24 -48 hr session is required.Taking on board the atmospheric pressure & wind direction is something to consider as well as the ambient temperature & above all what time of year it is .
Do you fish more efficiently on a shorter sessions with less gear and being more mobile?
Cracking little session topped with a lovely looking mirror 🙌 I prefer shorter day sessions 6-8hrs
Thanks, was nice to get a result 👍
I love longer sesions just time to rtelax the day to day of stress...but in the last few months ive only managed day sessions 8hrs max ...great vid and nice mirror :)
I get the longer sessions to relax, I just don’t like to feel tied down with so much gear! Always find myself less productive on a longer trip
My Fishing usually goes from a Monday midday till midday on the Thursday, so that’s three nights of peace and quiet
That’s a decent amount of time 👍
Absolutely love brinsham we need more vids like this🤣
I’m sure I’ll have a go over the winter 🥶
Great video as usual, short sessions for me. Either early starts or late finishes.
Thank you 🙏
I prefer short sessions, stalking for fish. Thanks for the weekly videos and monthly comps.Tight lines
Thanks for watching what we do 👊🏼👍
With disabilities I find a minimum of 24hrs and ideally 48 more relaxing.
Bristol Docks is a mega venue, but the charges now make it less appealing! Enjoyed my time down there 6/7 years ago, will have another go soon!
@@TheFishingBloggers Ha ha went right past my head , I live here so didn't get the subtext . I was down there yesterday evening for a couple of hours by the glass boat, had a nice 1.7 lb perch on Swedish meatballs, which I didn't believe was a bait till I tried it. be lucky.
@@HitTheBricks89 nice, I was thinking of having a perch session down there soon!
6- 24mostly but have done a few overnighters and enjoyed them. Great vid again.
Thank you 🙏
Have started doing a lot of short day sessions and really enjoy them I'm 72 an love me fishing
Hope I’m still smashing out the session when I’m 72. Fair play 👊🏼👍
For preference, it's between 6 and 24 hrs. On the waters I fish, anything less than 8 hours just doesn't feel worth it and time by the lake is always time we'll spent, but I don't want to go camping and have to take too much.
I hate feeling like I’m just camping. Love the outdoors, but when I’m by water I just want to hunt them down and not sit on my ass waiting!
Ahh lovely Yate 😂 been a while since there but yea lovely free park lake 👌🏻👍🏻 I prefer any type of fishing but do enjoy my short sessions with my little boy either method feeder or whip just to get him starter but I do love my camping socials too!! Great video again mush 👍🏻
Yea it’s good to have a mix to keep it interesting 👍
Awsome video Shaun🎣 nice fish. i do 3-4nights a week on my syndicate an pack up an move if see fish somewhere else. i dont work as have disability 7open heart surgurys since 5days old an going in this friday for key hole surgury. so goin fishing helps my mental health an watchin good youtubers🎣
Thank you 🙏
That’s a vast medical history! Good to see you can get out and get your fix, all the best on Friday 👍
Not done a short session in a while in all fairness, love a 48hr most of the time lol may get out next week for a few hrs and embrace it again 👍 another great video also
Give it a go, make the most of any time! I’m fortunate that I have multiple setups ready to go for different length sessions, saves a lot of messing about as you can grab the right setup and off you go!
I prefer short sessions as it takes me back to my childhood days fishing and short sessions more active. 🤙🏻
Yea definitely 👊🏼👍
As a rule I prefer over 24 hours solo, but if I'm out with my lass it would be a short session, I tend to fish different methodes as well depending on species. Park lake fishing can be fun. not done it for years. Nice Video shame you didn't get the dog on it!.....
The dog come flying out of nowhere! I had a bit of footage of the owner walking off but didn’t get the action sadly 😂
My trips are normally always on a Thursday, it’s easier for my fishing buddy, always somewhere different if possible, lines in at 7am and out at 4pm. Yet to try a night fish. Can I have bug please. Keep up the good work and yes, only bad owners
Sounds like a good fishing fix 👍
Well fair play for still catching after the dog jumped in 😂👌 and it has to be 24 hour sessions for me. Although just love getting out on the bank at all lol
Anytime on the bank is good 😊
Definitely 24hr sessions, suits making up time with friends and family , love a rare 48 when I can 😅
Fair play 👍
Prefer a bait & wait 48/72 hr session when I can between work when possible but have just started a pre baiting campaign so I can do some shorter session and hopefully knab some bangers
Prebaiting is a great tactic, had great results back when I had more time to visit inbetween session 👍
Definitely short session. As I am only 15 and still in school I can get about 4hours in on my local on a Wednesday because I finish early and I seem to catch more then than in a 10 hour session on the weekend if I get the chance.
I used to do the same, after school sessions! Spent my time on the river chasing chub, great days!
@@TheFishingBloggers definitely ones I’ll miss, (the fishing part not school)
@@rhyscooke9939 school years are some of the best, no commitments and no real troubles in life! The older you get the more it all changes, remember to enjoy your younger years lad 👍
I prefer 24 hour sessions as I have only been a couple times due to school but just love camping with rods out it’s just a different feeling ❤🎉
It’s a great feeling 🏕️ 🎣
I know this little lake very well and live about a mile from it. Used to spend a lot of time there, and should fish it more...
Have you caught much from there? It’s a cool little lake for a quick session
@@TheFishingBloggers yeah, it's a bit of an underrated gem. There's nothing massive in there (I've had them to 24lb), but some really pretty ones. I like stalking off the top in summer, but really like it for short sessions in winter, when the crowds bugger off and I'm often the only angler there. Have even caught one from under a sheet of ice with the lake half frozen.
@@jackwilson4284 I’ve fished it a few times over the years, it’s a great winter venue 👍
I like to do weekend sessions and a couple of weeks session chucked in , then 4 weeks away, to keep my partner happy 😊
I couldn’t do weekends, tooooo busy!!!!
Definitely a over night to get the eve and then the early moring margin crusiers awesome vid cant wit till the next one full of tips nice one pal 👍 👌
Glad you liked it, I do love an overnighter!
Nice catch mate. I don`t really have a preference as I like to do it all - short sessions and even up to 10 days at a time sessions. Although I totally love enjoying those runs waters sometimes its nice to have to work at catching because that can be just as rewarding and even sometimes its just great being in the outdoors just enjoying nature and taking in the air, sounds and feeling submerged in peace. Fishing is such a great release after work and it helps with calming the soul.
Agreed, it’s just great getting out! Not sure if I could handle 10 days on one venue, unless it was in Europe maybe. Then again I did 2 weeks in Canada on the St Lawrence which was epic!
@@TheFishingBloggers I can imagine, being able to try and figure out a new spot is always fun. Getting to relax and truly observe your surroundings is also great

What a cracking looking Kipper!! 😎👍 well done Boss 👍 short session for me every time 6 hrs if I’m feeling reckless or the missus isn’t nagging I may do 8hrs 😄✌️
They moan about us going, they moan when we don’t come back! 😂
I prefer short sessions as generally that fits in around life😊
Definitely 👍
been told a couple pike have come out of there one a few weeks ago
Oh really, never heard of anyone trying for them. Most lakes have one or two
I like a 24hrs session on a Friday/saturday with my 10 year old son getting away from it all and time together on the bank away from tv/tablets which is rare for youngsters now days I have be carp rods out and he is on my old float rod in the day which I had since I was his age so great to see him catch Rudd etc on that while live are out in the bite alarms for the chunks 👍😂 great video again look forward to next weeks 🎣
Sounds great taking the lad out, can’t beat some fresh air and wildlife!
@@TheFishingBloggers thank you pal 👊
In the USA, 99.9% of carp waters are free (with the exception of a $35 “annual” fishing license).
Sounds great if you live in the UK I guess, but it can be very difficult to find “consistently” good venues depending where you live. And, with few exceptions, you can forget about catching a 30lb+ carp.
That said, I’ll still take mid-to-upper-doubles all day long👍
Very limited ‘free’ water in the UK! 😢
I've been mainly doing long days 7-7 but I do like to do 3 days 2 nights at least 2 times a year
Do you fish better on short sessions?
