- BAY BRIDGE TRAFFIC: Chesapeake Bay Bridge traffic has paused as Dali, the cargo ship that collided with Baltimore’s Key Bridge, leading to its collapse, passes beneath on its way to Norfolk.

They halted traffic on the bridge not for safety, but because everyone would stop and try to get pictures and videos with their phone. It would have been a mess.

@@sleepyjay2664 Both ends of the bridge are in VA. The Chesapeake Peninsula's lower end is part of VA, the nothern end is MD.
People then are not thinking clearly......that would have been stupid and reckless on their part......At least some folks stopped this behavior , well done to them!

As the World turns, on it's axis the people involved in the hyaenas crime continue on with their daily activity as if nothing they caused ever happened. There is four issues being "Covered up". This boat that had engine issues was permitted to leave the dock ... The people in charge of navigating this boat allowed this to happen ... the fact that this bridge was turned into a pile for waste ... the fact that this bridge will never be replaced by the people who caused this Crime. The people who use this bridge on a day-to-day way of getting from A -to - B should never be responsible for it's replacement ... while anything that was in those containers will never be known ... while the prices of those products will continue to rise. The tugs let go a few miles after passing under the bridge. BTW, Norfolk is before the Bridge Tunnel.

If they did this(escorts) on a regular basis the Francis Scott Key Bridge would still be there! I would not allow another ship registered from that country in US waters again.or anywhere where the maintenance was not up to US standards! Goodbye Dali, do not come back!

Eight of the deck crew were allowed to go home and replaced. The Captain and senior officers remain on board to bring the ship to Norfolk.

Most US infrastructure from the era the collapsed bridged was built in is cheap and nasty and not very safe. Cost was the only consideration, not safety. That is because of the cold war. The US was more interested in spending money building ICBM silos, not safe infrastructure.

Many were empty, and had they been removed, the ship would have been higher in the water, and might not have fit under this bridge.
The containers are on their way from the US, not to the US.

Granted it would appear they stopped traffic way early for no reason, but if the ship left on its own power (notice the tugs escorting it) and it did have an issue ( it has a history prior to hitting the FSK Bridge) the Governor would have been harpooned.
