⚓️Jaw-Dropping: 1000-Foot Ship Emerges Suddenly in Duluth Fog!

- Welcome, Boat Friends! You're about to witness an incredible event that took place on June 1, 2024. In one of the thickest fogs I have ever captured, the majestic 1000-foot MV American Integrity made a jaw-dropping appearance in Duluth, Minnesota. This self-discharging bulk carrier, built in 1978 by Bay Shipbuilding Company, is one of the thirteen 1000-footers in the Great Lakes fleet. Originally named Lewis Wilson Foy and later Oglebay Norton, it was renamed American Integrity in 2006 when it joined the great American Steamship Company!
In this video, you'll see the American Integrity as it emerges almost out of nowhere from the dense fog, passing under the iconic Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge. The visibility was so poor that even the nearby Lake Superior and harbor basin were completely obscured. This eerie weather created an unforgettable scene as the massive vessel departed with a full load of coal from the Superior Midwest Energy Terminal.
The American Integrity is an engineering marvel, equipped with four 3500 HP diesel engines, a 250-foot unloading boom conveyor, and a maximum unloading rate of 10,000 tons per hour. Its impressive dimensions (1000 feet long and 105 feet wide) and its ability to transport vast quantities of coal and iron ore make it a vital player in the Great Lakes shipping industry.
This extraordinary footage is not just for ship enthusiasts but for anyone fascinated by remarkable weather phenomena and grand engineering feats. Watch as this colossal ship navigates through the mysterious fog, offering a surreal and captivating spectacle that will leave you in awe.
At 4:18 in the video, you'll witness a potentially dangerous situation. A very small fishing boat is hugging the north pier canal wall as it heads in from Lake Superior, just as the massive ship is halfway through the canal. The dense fog created zero visibility for both the ship's captain and the fishing boat's driver, turning this into a potentially catastrophic scenario. This tense moment highlights the unpredictability and risks of navigating in such severe weather conditions.
Don't miss this unique event that combines the grandeur of Great Lakes shipping with the mystique of one of nature's most enigmatic weather conditions. Join me and the rest of the Boat Friends in celebrating this unforgettable moment and be part of the adventure!

Hey boat friends! David here from ASC! Amazing video of the American Integrity, huh? We’re #ProudtobeASC
Boat Friends! It’s our friend Dave from American Steamship Company! Dave, thanks for taking time out of your day to watch this video and to say hello to all of us Boat Friends! You have a very professional Captain on Integrity! 👍⛴️
Hi David. Great to see you check-in. The ASC partnership with Vibe with Mike is wonderful. I'm so looking forward to learning more about your company. Mike will do a great job helping bring out the interesting people and stories which make ASC the leader in transporting bulk products throughtout the Great Lakes region.
Again, nice to hear from you David. Hope you stop back often.
Hi David. Sick video. Eh. Waves.
Is that an open-topped lifeboat? If so, that's a bit concerning. . .
@vibewithmike reminds me of Charleston, watching the ships going back and forth, wondering where they came from or heading to
It looks lika a Ghost Ship as it disappears in to the fog...awesome! Thank you!
It definitely did look like a go ship as fast as we saw it. It disappeared.
I've sailed in thick fog where I couldn't see much beyond my own ship, but having your own bow sticking out 250 feet beyond visible range is something else. That must be like sticking your nose into a portal to another dimension. You could be steering into sea monsters for all you know. Well, I suppose it'd only be lake monsters, that's probably an acceptable risk.
Steer into lake monsters, a rock, the Edmund Fitzgerald... yeah, I have my doubts I would comfortably go out in this mess.
@robertbalazslorincz8218 can you imagine going out in these conditions with no electronics to navigate? That must’ve been some scary stuff back in the day on Lake superior. Did you see this video about the ship that’s been on the news? th-cam.com/video/hGlUk_bds60/w-d-xo.htmlsi=y8GGMpphIsExV_Ux
@@vibewithmikeim no sailor, but if i was captain i would set ancor during visability like this (in the old days before gps navigation)
@Sausketo I read many stories that and the early 1900s ships would smash right into the shore and they thought they were in the middle of the lake many times with fog like this
@@vibewithmike sounds about right, thats exactly why i wouldnt, at least if you set anchor you only have to worry about another ship hitting you
There is something mysterious and beautiful about the ship as it comes out of the fog and quietly passes back into the fog.
I really like the word that you used. Mysterious. That’s a great fit for the video because even though this vessel is so huge it was creeping through the fog
Wow that's really thick fog. Less than 1,000 feet visability. Looks like you can't see the bow when looking from the stern. Great video, thanks Mike!
Becky, I hope you are enjoying your Friday. It was very remarkable to watch this thousand foot ship literally appear out of nowhere only hundreds of feet away. It’s amazing that these captains can navigate these ships and such conditions. They are true professionals. Thanks again for your wonderful comment and being part of this channel my friend! And thank you for being a channel member
Are they just doing pure radar nav at that point or what? Or I guess GPS aided by radar for obstacle avoidance?
And WOW that thing is ENORMOUS!
@MattH-wg7ou these ships are absolute beasts. They are so large. I believe they are using AIS and radar that they have on the vessel. I would be nervous.
Wow.... that is unbelievably foggy!!! Got to love the American Integrity name on that beautiful ship! Watching that bridge go up and down never gets old. You can barely see the Tug Missouri sitting there in the fog. Fantastic shot of the American Integrity slowly appearing out of that fog Mike! Gorgeous American Steamship Company ship David & Kevin!!! Nice Captains Salute. Safe journey to the Captain & Crew of the American Integrity has she disappears into the fog. ⚓🚢⚓
Ken, could you believe that? When I always stand there by the south pier I show you Lake superior and I panned over and you couldn’t see anything besides a gray curtain. It was unbelievable that dense fog. And that captain really stepped up to the plate and showed how much of a professional he is. I was telling people I couldn’t even ride a bike in that fog would be so difficult. And look what the captain did with 1000 feet of vessel.👍⛴️

Don't know what the heck the skipper of that small fishing boat was thinking about. That's not exactly a wise move on a clear day, let alone a day as foggy as that!
@KenHartman152 that’s a very dangerous situation and especially with all that propwash behind 1000 footer could’ve tipped that vessel and no one would’ve even seen it because of the fog
@@vibewithmike u making any of the early ships tomorrow
@eliaslundtheboatnerd probably not, I’ll get the Duluth around noon tomorrow or so
@georgejones25270 I’m in the Twin Cities right now. I’ll be in Duluth tomorrow around noon.
You outdid yourself on this one, Mike!! Awesome!
Bev! Can you believe how awesome that captain is! Bev, it would be hard to ride a bike in that fog let alone driving a 1000 foot vessel
@@vibewithmike Yes this is a great video, building suspense and keeping things interesting with trivia. And then the crescendo. I had no idea these were THAT big.
@joeysplats3209 these ships a re true beats! It’s amazing they can float. I hope you subscribe (it’s free) and come back to my channel to watch more ship videos moving forward. It’s all about having fun with the ships!👍👍👍⛴️⛴️⛴️
Thanks Mike!
That was some sweet fog action!
That fog was so thick! Even skateboarding through the fog would’ve been hard to do. This captain is a true pro.👍⛴️
Love the ships in the fog. Thanks Mike
That ship horn could have a person jumping out of their socks. It’s so loud. You definitely know the ship is there in the fog.
I grew up on the prairies. I went to The Netherlands when I was a teenager and let me tell you, the first time you see one of these ships up close is amazing. They just keep coming and coming and coming...
That is definitely one place. I want to check out. The Netherlands. It really thrills me to know that you found this TH-cam channel. TH-cam is awesome for that. I have found so many channels that now peak my curiosity every day. I want to say this, welcome! Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions that you might have and participate any way you want. You don’t have to know anything about ships. Heck, I barely knew anything about ships when I first started all of this. It’s all about learning and having fun with a good group of people that are all about helping one another. Again, welcome!👋👍⛴️🙏 I hope you subscribe (it’s free) and come back to channel to watch more ship videos moving forward. It’s all about having fun with the ships!👍👍👍⛴️⛴️⛴️
Right when you said "when it gets closer"... you could just start to see it emerge through the fog.
I noticed that on the playback. At the time that I said it, I guess I didn’t notice it. It was so cool to see the merge from that fog. Almost like it came from behind a gray curtain. Eric, thanks for taking time to check out the video. I see that you’re a Raiders fan. in my opinion, there will never be a better backfield than Marcus Allen and Bo Jackson.
Already hit notify and like. All I have to do now is watch the show.
It’s always a pleasure having you watch the videos and drop a comment! I hope your Friday is going great. It was so wonderful. Recording this ship in the fog, 1000 footer.
Always good to see you Mike.
💯
Likewise is my friend! I can always count on you watching the videos and being part of this channel. I really appreciate you.👍⛴️
Hi Mike and boat friends
When the ship " appeared and blew the horn
Reminded me of the
Polar Express
"ALL ABOARD !"
then disappeared into
Oblivion !
Watched the D day specials yesterday
That tug looked like a war ship sitting in the fog !
Have a great day !
Carl, the horn from the vessel near me, blew me out of my socks. It was so much power as that ship came through the fog.
So cool to see Intergrity emerge from the fog. Great view!
There’s nothing like an awesome thousand foot vessel coming through the fog. I think fog videos are my favorite⛴️👍
Great video, Mike. Thank you
Hey, I appreciate you saying that. And I really appreciate you being part of this channel and watching these ship videos, my friend.
Hello to Mike and all Boat Friends. That was beautiful. Foggy weather does add a touch of atmosphere to the production. Something mesmerizing about a footer gliding out of the fog and out to Superior. Very enjoyable piece.
It’s really interesting seeing ships and any weather outside of a sunny day.
Wow! I agree- that is really foggy, creating potentially dangerous conditions! Thanks for posting. It’s kinda eerie… wishing ships and sailors safe travel and safe harbor!🙏❤️
In a way you are right, it is kind of eerie almost like a Halloween type of movie but the star of this movie doesn’t wear a mask, it’s 1000 foot vessel! 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
Looking Forward to the video Mike.
The amount of fog is incredible during this video. It was amazing watching a 1000 foot ship come through the fog and you could barely see it until I got very very close.
Thank you so much for this video. I used to live in Duluth many years ago, and used to watch the boats come in and out while i worked. Waiting for the ship to go through to get across the bridge was so frustrating back then, now great memories.
You miss living in Duluth? I hope you subscribe (it’s free) and come back to channel to watch more ship videos moving forward. It’s all about having fun with the ships!👍👍👍⛴️⛴️⛴️
Duluth City, Harbor, and lake belong in a Top notch Movie. !!
Very cool show. Thanks Mike from New York
The captain really put on a show by guiding this huge vessel through the fog. 1000 feet and the captain made it look easy. Unbelievable.👍⛴️
The fog makes this a super cool video, thanks mike.
Fog and ships go together, and it goes together even better if you have a camera. This was so fun to record this 1000 foot vessel in the fog. Thank you for taking time out of your Friday Troy.
Spectacular video!
Gotta say, reading the title and seeing the foggy pier somehow had the ending of The Lost World Jurassic Park (where the ship appears out of the fog and rams the docks)pop in my head 😅
That’s an absolutely perfect comparison, lost world, Jurassic Park! You could see that big beast coming out of the fog. I can’t wait for the video that I’m posting tomorrow, and I’m hoping you will be able to watch it too. I finally was able to go onboarda 1000-foot ship and give a tour for everybody. Totally sweet Mike! Thank you.
I really enjoyed this video. However, it was really fun doing this one today. Did you see it? th-cam.com/users/liveWbehPxCUeBI?si=1St0vW-Z9StinUmW
I love Duluth, and Canal Park….been there numerous times. And yes, the fog can be really thick at times. I love to hear the fog horns when they sound. As a kid, we lived in Lakeside, and could hear the foghorns up in the neighborhoods. Fond memories.
I love hearing these type of stories. A lot of people ask me questions regarding how far you can hear those ships. I have heard a ship horn up on the hill as well. Some of those horns can really carry.
Kudos to the captin of the American Integrity. Navigating through that fog must be nerve wracking!
It’s amazing what the captains can do in the fog. I can’t wait for the video that I’m posting tomorrow, and I’m hoping you will be able to watch it too. This is my favorite video so far. Shroud of fog really gives it an eerie setting. Just a massive beast. And I love the bridge horn. 😊
Beautiful Ship!!! Excellente Captain for taking the Ship out in this weather!!! Thanks Mike!!!! 🤗❤️👍🙋🏻♀️
I often drive past these beautiful behemoths with my boat on the St Clair and Detroit Rivers. At the St Clair 'cutoff' there is a remote beach accessible only by boat. As these ships pass through the channel the water goes out from the beach and then returns flooding the beach due the immense water displacement.
The Detroit river is so awesome to watch ships you get to see Canada and the US side plus the huge general motors headquarters right there there
WOW!!!😮 I’m absolutely awestruck! I live in (very) Northern Virginia and don’t know much about the Grest Lakes. This just blew me away! Idk why it popped up in my feed but man I’m glad, that was very awesome to see. The fog added a spooky vibe and the size…..OMGOSH!! Would LOVE to see something like this in person, I love foggy weather, it’s so mysterious. Thank you so much for sharing this.
My friend in Virginia! I am so glad that you found this channel and this video. It really thrills me, isn’t it interesting how we can find new things on TH-cam? I’ve been in that situation so many times. Again, thank you so much for checking out the video. We have people from around the world that are part of this channel, we are all called the boat friends. @@vibewithmike than you very much!!
👋🙏 Have a great night. 80 degrees here in Duluth today.
Thanks Mike, love the big boats!
They definitely are interesting and especially in this type of weather. The fog really makes them stand out, especially when they come out of nowhere and then creep right back into the fog as they go by. I hope your Saturday is off to a great start. Thanks for taking time to watch the video and even more time to drop a comment. All the best brother.
Great show Mike! Fog adds suspense! Thanks
It’s unbelievable that 1000 foot vessel could be hidden in that fog for that long. It appeared when it was a few hundred feet from us. Unbelievable.
That was so cool. Brave crew to go out in lake Superior in fog even with radar and everything else.
It would be scary being up there in the pilot house or bridge steering a big ship going out onto the lake!⛴️👍
wow that was epic Mike. Especially when it came out of the fog and then disappeared back into it!
I still can’t believe that 1000 foot vessel can appear out of nowhere and then disappear that fast. Don’t miss that small boat at 4:10 in the video. Look at it closely. That could’ve really been dangerous.
@@vibewithmike As someone that has sailed on the open ocean when I saw that boat you mentioned I thought I hope you idiots go home and hug your love ones because you almost didn't get to see them again! That was beyond foolish!
@67wildwolf the real question why would they be out in that fog anyway?
@@vibewithmike That was why I said beyond foolish! 1000 foot ship vs little tiny boat would be road kill if it was a highway collision
@67wildwolf ⛴️⛴️👍👍👍
Hi Mike, I just got to see the Integrity now 2.30pm Saturday. Another amazing video 😊 what I say about the fog is ,,when it's gone it won't be Mist (missed) 😅😅😅. Gus ,Dublin.
I like that touch! Mist/missed! Very clever, very clever!😂😂😂😂😂😂
Unbelievable fog when you realize you can see the bow but not even a hint of the pilot house. Made many a landing in that kind of weather where you couldn't see more than one or two center line markings on the runway at a time. Cool perspective Mike and as always, another awesome ASC ship hard at work.
Sky, you would barely catch me riding a bike in that fog. Can you imagine steering 1000 foot vessel like that? Also, what was that small boat doing out on the lake in the first place. Take a look at 4:10 in the video. That could’ve been very scary.
@@vibewithmike You said it all in regards to the small boat and lack of basic intelligence. The suction generated alone by these monsters would keep me at least a quarter mile away. Just goes to show you that you can't fix stupid.
@skycvg ⛴️⛴️⛴️👍👍👍👍
Mike, this was a very enjoyable video to watch. I find unusual weather situations quite interesting.
In fog, vessels are required to sound their horn in short bursts every 2 minutes.
And for folks who might not know, the St. Clair destination is located along the St Clair River south of Port Huron, Michigan. They are delivering low sulfur coal to the Detroit Edison power plant.
I was wondering about that Chuck. So it is every two minutes for the foghorn.
@@vibewithmike Yeap, required every 2 minutes.
@chuckg6039 ⛴️👍
Hi Chuck thanks for the up date !
what is on the ship and where it is going !
In the big ship world
Fog is just another day at the office !
They have all the latest electronics gear and they know what they are doing !
It is amazing how electronics have evolved over the years
Back in 1964 we had Loran A
Accurate to 5 miles
When we were 500 miles at sea
a position within 5 miles was pretty good
Then it went to Loran C
Which was Accurate between 2 miles or 16 feet depending on your location and how the receiver was tuned
Then GPS came along if you were stationary it showed your position moving around in a circle
One time we were at a gas well buoy off long point a known fixed position and the Loran and GPS were 2 miles apart !
Then electronic charts came along and if you were moving you were just ahead of your position on the screen
the boat would move ahead 50 feet Then the boat on the electronic chart would catch up
Now with the new broad band radars they can see seagulls flying and electronic charts are so accurate they can see the boat rolling at the dock
The guy in the small boat was hugging the wall
It probably was a
"MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE"
for him
He might have been tracking the ship movement on his phone ?
Or going out to the tug ?
There is a saying only a Fool will set out !
( boy that was dumb !)
Only a Seaman will Return !
Hard to say what the condition s were further out on the lake ?
I had my boat out on lake Erie Sunday same conditions rain fog visibility 2 telephone poles
(I got radar) half a mile from shore it cleared up sun shining beautiful day !
Have a great day !
@carllafrance5510 ⛴️👍
That was a very cool perspective under the bridge.
There was a lot of fog with this 1000 foot vessel
I live 3 hours NW of Duluth, years ago my sister and her family came up from Oklahoma to visit. We went to Duluth and I was so excited for them to see Lake Superior ……nothing but thick fog ! But I’ve seen it’s glory many times !!!
Thanks for the great video !!!
Darn! Did it ever clear up for them? I hope they were able to see something. It can be really interesting with all the fog and then a clear day the next day. Always something with the weather here. Did you see this video with some wild waves? th-cam.com/video/NZHnJtsf8Mk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=31LfFKC-6S8WQpNi

Present sir!
Thanks for taking time out of your Friday to watch this vessel, my friend
The fog adds such an erie element, ill bet the captain can't even see the bow 1000ft out there.
Duane, did you see that small at 4:10 in the video. Could you imagine how scary that would have been? That takes a lot of guts coming through the canal with 1000 footer. I’m wondering why that little boat was even on the lake in the first place with all of that fog.
@@vibewithmike Your 4:10 must differ from mine, or something. I saw NO small boat. But since it was NOT zero visibility, perchance he kept his escape route in mind, just like a motorcycle must. I'm just passing through, making trouble. LOL. I watched via the preview most of it then came here in order to watch the advertisements in full. That's the most I was willing to do to help the channel, which is something, and ditto for typing a comment. Greetings from PA. Good video. :) Was it cheaper to film in B&W? LOL
@cliffontheroad it’s a couple seconds later at 4:18. I talk about it and you can actually see the small boat going right by the bow and the opposite direction on the other side.
Thanks for sharing Mike as always a great video, from Arizona City, Az. where it feels like an oven yesterday was 110 F in the shade and 120 F in the sun, yea I stayed inside with the A/C @ 73.
I was really surprised to see Vista Star going sightseeing in the fog! Wow! That would be fun in a scary kind of way! They must have a good boat captain as well. I at least would be asking those kind of questions before I would board it in that weather! 😄 Hopefully they give the tourist lots of info about how they navigate in that kind of weather. It would be interesting to know about. Anyway, what an awesome video seeing the ship cutting through the fog! Sure wish I would have been down there this day! It must have been so amazing, Mike! I love those foggy days, but wouldn't want to drive in it!
The people on that Vista should’ve got their money back. What could you possibly have seen on that boat? However, maybe it was a very interesting experience at most people don’t get to do. I don’t know. I couldn’t go on there with all that fog.
@@vibewithmike 😄 Come on! It was an experience of a lifetime! They could have gotten some good movie footage or something. It would seem a little scary, but I would assume they know what they are doing if they take guests aboard? Can you imagine how cool that looked if people took video of their boat trip? Haha. No one would believe they are on a boat. Haha. Memorable for sure!
@LoriLeaPouttu I think it would go something like this Lori, well, over there normally that’s the Lyft bridge. Also over there, that’s normally lake superior and so on. One thing that would be interesting, you could take one picture and say look I saw everything. It’s all the same view.👍⛴️🤣
@@vibewithmike hahaha. How awkward it would be for the tour guide! But, it could change up to be a ghost boat tour! But, sadly, people have lost their lives in that area under unfortunate circumstances... 😪 Ghost tours can be fun though...
@LoriLeaPouttu in a way the more I think about it I think it would be kind of cool because how often do you get to go out on a ship like that but that type of fog? The other question, would I want to pay for that? No
U.S. Navy veteran...Westpac '82 USS Cleveland LPD-7 during a bad rainstorm somewhere in the pacific visibility was very limited...all of a sudden one of these guys missed us by yards. It was a near collision. We wouldnt have stood a chance. All i could see was like in ur video....a long ship that had no end. Because of the conditions i couldnt see the beginning or the end of it!! It was colosssal. Humongous it was. We dodged a bullet and the entire crew was asleep. Was during the midwatch. Next day nobody knew nothing about the close call. 🙂🕖
First, let me tell this to you. Thank you so much for your service for putting that uniform on! it means the world to me and so many other people. This was really fun to record a huge vessel like this in the fog
As a landlocked person for my whole life except for a few ocean visits, the fact that something so big can move is so astounding to me.
I also love that bridge. It's so impressive.
It’s really fun to watch the interaction between the bridge and the ship. Also, it’s entertaining watching people get excited on the pier as well when the ships come in.
Very cool. Thanks dude !

This was the reason why radar was invented
There’s another perfect example th-cam.com/video/_tnIezrKvRI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4g5vvYkeypoeIE1b
Ship is longer than the render distance
I hope you subscribe (it’s free) and come back to my channel to watch more ship videos moving forward. It’s all about having fun with the ships!👍👍👍⛴️⛴️⛴️
What a ‘mysterious’ departure of the American Integrity! The appearance out of the fog of the bow as the Pilothouse is shrouded and unseen, then as the bow disappears the Superstructure is seen in all its glory, to again be lost to our sight. The American Steamship Line, led by Kevin & Doug, has able Captains on their roster. I pray for calm seas & following winds for the Crew.
Another grand video, Mike. I’m glad you were safe on the South Pier & not in the boat. Fog is rough.
There’s no way I would’ve ever went out on my boat in those conditions. It was very scary. I can’t imagine being on the water in that situation. ASC has some extremely knowledgeable and professional captains. All my respect. Thank you so much for your wonderful, today, friend.
Mike, you've done it again with the National Geographic level photography. I love this video!!
My goodness, what a compliment. Thank you so much for watching the video. I can always count on you to watch these videos, and to be part of what we do here in this channel ⛴️⛴️⛴️👍👍👍
Done ✅
Thanks Friend! For me, it is so awsome being able to record ships in thick fog like this!
“Superior it is said never gives up her dead...”
It’s one of the most beautiful lakes in the world when it’s calm, but, brother that quote is no joke. The waves can get out of control. Many times I’m standing on shore. I’m freaked out how those waves are. Think of being out there in a ship. I hope you subscribe (it’s free) and come back to channel to watch more ship videos moving forward. It’s all about having fun with the ships!👍👍👍⛴️⛴️⛴️
Great video Mike! I made it back to PA. last evening and thoroughly enjoyed my time in Duluth!
My dad was a ship builder. He would really have enjoyed that! Thank you!!!
Sandy, thank you so much for taking time out of your evening to write this comment. Thank you. Your dad is one of the people that contributed to the shipping industry. That’s very cool. I hope you subscribe and come back. If there’s one video that I want you to watch, it’s this one right here. You might have to put your stocking cap and jacket on before you hit play. th-cam.com/video/mKzamgCa6zw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IqSeeiqBfkgCue8x
"American Integrity" 😄 that was a good one!
It was fun to watch the big ship come through the fog
@@vibewithmike Oh yeah, that's exactly what I meant by that 😜
👍
Wouldn't it have been cooler if this ship had been missing for over a decade?
Even better, what if there was a pirate standing on the bow?
Mike, I saw your video of the lift bridge process of raising from road level to the highest elevation.
This current video is wonderful showing the heavy fog and the ship emerging and passing through the passage under the lift bridge.
The bridge is so amazing Wendy, it’s so old, but it’s still is so functional and beautiful
Fantastic video Mike. Terrific ship and the fog really made it. Well done. 🙋♂️👏👏🇬🇧
I definitely know that you and my other friends in the UK know something about fog! It definitely creeps up in the harbor here in Duluth once in a while.⛴️👍🇬🇧
ship name is an example of an oxymoron
There’s a lot of wild ship names out there for sure
Boaty McBoatface is one of them.
Envit, that’s a solid name
@@vibewithmike Solid AND guaranteed to put a smile in anyone's face. :)
If I had a 1000-footer that would be the name!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍⛴️⛴️⛴️⛴️👋👋👋
👋 Hello Mike and boat friends ! Such an awesome foggy effect , cool video ! Thanks !
It was almost like a Steven Spielberg movie all of that fog
That’s awesome. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching my friend. I hope your weekend is great. Did you see this fog video with a ship today? th-cam.com/video/_tnIezrKvRI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4SkwUX-WkZvUzjoL
Very nice video.
Thanks for taking the time to create it. 👍🇺🇸
Hey, thank you very much! I think it’s really cool that you took time to actually leave a comment saying this. Most people just move on to the next video. I want to genuinely tell you thank you! All the best to your friend
Great Video - really educational - thanks for making it.
Jack, thank you so much friend! I think one that you will really enjoy the one that I posted yesterday. An actual tour of one of these thousand foot ships. th-cam.com/video/f4fZFdiTHW4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-0j0rNsYjQ7JzUvU
Great video, thank you.
Beautiful. Shared. Thank you.
From Deb…Okay, I’m hooked. Ya got me. This video is epic. This aviation/ train geek is now a Duluth ship geek too. I’m subscribing.
Thanks Walter! There’s nothing like going on TH-cam and it sounds like we do the same same thing. Planes, trains, automobiles, and ships. No particular order.
Ships in the fog are my favorites. Thanks. 108F and getting warmer. Hell has to be cooler.
Oh my goodness, 108°! You could fry an egg on concrete! That is unbelievable. I hope you have some ice and a drink for sure.
That was pretty cool appreciate the upload
Thomas! Love that cat in the profile pic! Thanks for a nice comment. I hope you subscribe (it’s free) and come back to my channel to watch more ship videos moving forward. It’s all about having fun with the ships!👍👍👍⛴️⛴️⛴️

Really well done. I spent quite a bit of time in Superior for worK, and I absolutely loved the twin cities and the whole area. The accordion museum is certainly an area highlight when not ship watching.
Hey friend, hope you saw this fun one from today. Lots of fog with the ship. th-cam.com/video/_tnIezrKvRI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=DmKGv3krWQ5pDZ_M
Wow, that's magnificent! It's really awe-inspiring seeing a massive machine that humans have made like this.
It’s hard to believe that huge steel ship can float but it does! I hope you subscribe (it’s free) and come back to my channel to watch more ship videos moving forward. It’s all about having fun with the ships!👍👍👍⛴️⛴️⛴️
Fantastic video, many thanks from Tasmania, Australia !
I really appreciate you taking time out of your day in Australia to watch this video here in Duluth, Minnesota. Serious, I really do! A lot of the Boat friends that are in Australia that follow this channel are great people. I even had some videos that I played from the Sydney, Harbor from one of our Boat friends. I want you to check this out. It was a very cold day and wait until you see the water and sky. It was like a movie set. th-cam.com/video/mKzamgCa6zw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=a-lD98BZ0OxNIvjc
Super cool video! Thanks Mike!
Kelly, I’m in the Twin Cities right now. I know that the temperature is fantastic for you as well. Thanks again for watching another vessel video. You really are a great supporter and friend to this channel.
@vibewithmike Hope you're having a great time here. Today has been gorgeous. I enjoyed a nice outdoor lunch with my family. I wish you safe travels when you head back up.
@KellyfromTC outdoor lunch with the family, it gets no better
You made a great video here. I enjoyed your narrative about what is going on. You have a great voice for being a narrator also. Thank you I enjoyed your video .
What a wonderful comment. I can see your musician. Nothing like some relaxing and fun music. Lucky for you, you know how to play! Thank you for taking time out of your day. I hope you check out this video. I posted this two days ago. This is the ship that was on the news.🎶🎵⛴️⛴️⛴️⛴️⛴️👍👍👍 th-cam.com/video/hGlUk_bds60/w-d-xo.htmlsi=1m7VS7bSeHDdUq5D
How truly amazing to see this huge ship emerge from the fog- and then disappear back into it a brief while later! I’ve always enjoyed fog, but this was a new experience. I just wish that I had seen it live, as you did! Thanks for sharing this.
Janet, can you imagine steering a vessel that large in the fog? It was hard to even walk around. I’m really glad that you were able to watch this video. Take a look at the person that’s at 4:18 in the boat that could’ve been very dangerous.
@@vibewithmike
No, I cannot imagine piloting something that large through such thick fog; kudos to that captain! Yes, it was indeed risky for that person to take a small boat out in this, and to pass a freighter. No visibility to speak of, and I would imagine that the wake of a vessel of this size is significant. If an accident would have happened, who would have seen it and been able to assist? Best to stay on land in this- plus, how does a small boat’s driver expect to maneuver on the lake in fog?
I know little about boats, but don’t think that your average small boat is equipped with any kind of refined navigational technology that enables the driver to pilot in poor visibility, as freighters would have. Hopefully no harm came to those people.
The more I think about it, we could have witnessed a bad accident. However, I hope this is a lesson learned for the small boat driver. ⛴️👍
@@vibewithmike
I hope so, too. Boating is fun, but it should be approached with wisdom, and with an eye always on weather conditions- same as driving a car.
My dad was in London, England, during WWII and spoke of the “pea soup” (thick) fog that he saw over there. I was reminded of that when I saw this video.
@janetryan9779 ⛴️⛴️⛴️👍👍👍👍👍
Cool. Went there a few years ago and watched the lift bridge open. But it was a clear and sunny day, but due to heavy rain the days before the water in the canal was muddy and red.
That’s exactly what happens, after big storms there’s a big runoff and there’s discoloration in the water. Go on my TH-cam page and take a look at the ‘community’ tab post I did yesterday. I think you’re going to like it, my friend. American Century post.
I enjoy seeing the ships coming into and out of the Duluth port. I have never been as far north as Duluth. I was born in Phoenix and now live in Florida.
Two great places, Phoenix in Florida! That’s awesome. Did you see this video from today th-cam.com/video/cQ3gCuHfg2c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_6RqTSH7eokCMZsM
Awesome!!
That’s a fun one Mike, thanks! Loved it ⚓️⚓️
Hey! I love your TH-cam profile logo! Very cool. I love old English. Thanks for taking time out of your Friday to watch this ship video my friend.
I’m all about Detroit and our beautiful Michigan! 💙
