Great breakdown! Maybe further more... Pivot location further customize the boot / binding interface. A size 28 with a pivot location towards the back will feel "similar" than a size 25 with a pivot location towards the front. As well, the bellows flex would be the resistance of the boots to "flex" the ball of the foot. I skied T-Race with BD 01 Free-flex and it skied much better than a Voodoo (very soft bellows) with Mid-Flex 01. I prefer more resistance in the bellows with a more neutral binding than a softer bellows with a more active. The former, you control the pressure on the ball of your foot. The later, the binding controls the pressure. I preferred the BD 01 over the Targa because you had an increase in resistance to help pressuring the ball of the foot vs the Targa, you lost that resistance after "too" much flex (rides on the side of the boot). I took a 7 year hiatus from tele but now that the new TX Pro is out, I'll be back in the game ;) These are just my own discoveries.
Nice vid Josh. Easy to understand with the strap demo. How does the new TXPro come in the conversation. Hearing it's a little stiffer than outgoing model, possibly they intend to deprecate Comp model?
Thanks for breaking all of this down so well! Particularly with the Outlaw/Lynx and Comp/Pro. I have both bindings a boots set up on different skis. Outlaw and Comp for resort, Lynx and Pro for touring. I really appreciate your thoughts on pre-load to get a similar feel from both boot/binding combo.
So will a bishop bomber have leverage on to the boot similar to cable ie G3 targa? Came from t-race. I’m currently running outlaws which I purchased from you, with TX comp, but to engage the boot flex/bellow, I need to really pull the boot way far under/behind me.I really need to get OVER the toe to engage the bellow. Will the bomber, being connected to the back of the boot, help the leverage, in assisting the easing of the bellow flex. Thanks Doug. Aka the legendary Chucky gross from telemarktips
Hey! Awesome video. Just found the channel recently. subscribed! I'm getting ready to drop some coin on NTN gear finally . I've been telemarking for 25 years. I've been thru 3 pairs of t-races plus some others back in the beginning. my current set up is 22 D axles with t-races. I'm looking at the tx comp now. What binding most likely will give me a similar feel to what I have now? I like active and stiff. I'm 90% resort skiing aggressively in trees..little bit of park. Occasionally skinning for turns. weight is not a big concern. I usually mount up alpine skis. Thanks for any info 🙌
Depends on the binding. You could say that for Rottefella Freeride, which would be correct. Generally the way i explain it is, the spring is the stiffness and the pivot point is the activity/activeness. Most people combine those two things when they say "stiff". The Meidjo is the most interesting one in that it has a perpendicular spring that adjusts the releasability but doesn't affect the stiffness of the spring load on the binding. Hope that helps. Cheers. - Madsen
Thanks for the question. I'll only be covering topics and equipment that we carry or manufacture moving forward on the channel. Although we have carried Bishop in the past, it's not a product that I believe in or have ever really liked, so I simply don't cover it. Hope that helps. Cheers - Madsen

Glad you're getting back into it! It's a wild ride. - Madsen
I love how to brought
I think the comment got cut off - so feel free to edit if you need a question answered. Thanks - Madsen

Glad to help! You were the one that inspired the video w/ your comment so thank you for asking me for it! - Madsen

Outlaw X is a good fit for what you are describing. Cheers - Madsen
Is the Lynx the only NTN binding with adjustable pivot point? What about Meidjo?
Yes except for Telemark Tech System (TTS ) style bindings. Meidjo has only one pivot point where the bar connects to the ski.
So is the spring tension mainly for releasing the boot in extreme moments

Curious why you rarely talk about Bishop?
