@Sienna Thank you for reaching out. I'll never tell anyone what they can and cannot do. I believe everyone should experience things for themselves. I will say that if you're at a lower lvl, it could be difficult to get an understanding of what's being taught. If you're interested in being around high lvl grapplers and get rounds in, then it'll work for you.

I feel like I’m the only person on the planet who gets a weird vibe from the B team. You ever meet someone in your life who is totally nice and easygoing, but due to some gut feeling, you just feel like there’s a certain fakeness to it? That’s how I feel about them.
They’ve crafted a reputation as these carefree, self-deprecating meme lords who have all the positive attributes that Gordon doesn’t have. Idk there’s just something about it that feels weird. I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe I’m just delusional or biased, but I get the impression that they aren’t as nice behind the scenes as their training footage makes them out to be, and I think these Izaak/Nick Ortiz situations shed some light on that.
And Izaak didn’t just part ways with them; him and Craig stopped following each other on IG AND he liked all of Gordon’s recent IG posts where he trashes them. Also, if you ask me, it was very petty of Craig to remove all of Izaak’s training footage from the TH-cam channel. I know Craig said he doesn’t wanna give anyone free publicity, but again, it just seems very petty given that the footage was already public and had been for a while, and also strange since Craig claims he wishes Izaak all the best in his future endeavors.
Gordon may be a total asshole sometimes, but I feel like he’s at least more sincere than these guys. I’d rather deal with someone who is upfront about being a dick than someone who is a dick but pretends to be all cool and laid back. I’ve met a few people like that in BJJ and I can’t stand it.

I agree, i think nicky rod is a douche, i see it in the little things, for example there is a new video in flo with nicky rod training with Rida, and as they fight he invades craig jones mat space and he doesnt give a fuck and keeps going, then craig and his parther stand and go to the other side and he says "i didnt realize it was you" like dude doesnt matter who it is you are invading their space just stop and reset, is obvious to me that he holds himself as superior to others, that he disrespected Ortiz doesnt surprise me, anyway just my opinion!

I've only dropped in a couple times and I train with guys who train there regularly. I've never got that vibe from the B team guys. • @izzate7
    @izzate7 ปีที่แล้ว +160

I feel like this kind of confirms my original suspicions of why DDS broke up. The B Team guys wanted part ownership in the new gym and Gordon said no. Now they’re doing the same thing to Izaak and Nick. Not that it’s necessarily bad, but maybe they’re not being victimized by Gordon’s “poisonous” behavior as much as they let on. Of course there’s whatever strife happened between Nicky Ryan and Gordon too.

I would say $75 a class is pretty low, but let's run the math. Students are legit paying $300/mo plus fees, say 100 students (low estimate since high-level drop-ins don't pay). That's $30k /mo and $360k /yr. Figure overhead of $5k /mo for the space, plus utilities, insurance, that's maybe $7.5k /mo that leaves $270k profit. At 15 classes a week, that's potentially an instructor payout of 50 weeks (-2 weeks for holiday) * 15 * $75 = $56k. Jeebus.. $56k for two instructors full-time?
This is Austin Texas, median home price is around 500k, median rent is $2750 /mo, that's $33k alone to have a place to live. Yeah, sounds toxic, I'd want a piece of the pie too. Not to mention, the great content on TH-cam they make. That'll bring in 15-30k /mo soon if not already. Everyone knows the algorithm is built on time watched per video, and although their viewers are not over the 100k mark (yet), every one of their subscribers is watching the sh*t out of their content. So tack on another 100-250k /yr by youtube, then the fooken merch.. who knows.. but every BJJ nerd is buying something from them, that could be in the millions if they manage it right (prob not, say $300k).
Now that all seems like Fuck Craig Jones!!! Bastid.. making around $750k But wait. There's 5 fucking owners of this gym.. well shit, what's that.. that's around $100-150k each. Which if you start to tack in instructor pay, takes away from their pay.. so that's potentially a 12k drop each, and if they're asking for more because it's low AF, well it can get pretty petty. But Craig, Nicky x2, Ethan, Seth are all-in.. Meanwhile the instructors have the capacity to drop-in, get their competitive edge in for free (steel sharpens steel), make a little money, and still hold down a day job. So the side hustle of teaching isn't that bad. That's the crux, they're viewing the job wrong.
Instructors can use the B-Team platform to grow their own platform. There will be sponsorships at play, grow their own content and following on youtube and IG. Get paid the $75 /class and extra for the times when they really need someone to float the school during camps (there's always a camp going on). At the end of the day, B-Team will still have a bunch of nerds who paid a fook ton of money to make them better, and not snap their shit, because they have nerd jobs to be at in the morning.
This is the other big value of teaching there. Possibility of branching B-Team out to another location and now you're pulling in nerds at $300 /mo a pop. Now B-Team is a cult like 10P and everyone is rich AF, doing what they enjoy, and best of all.. still teammates and friends who didn't let BS money shit interfere with why they all got together and create the B-Team.. to do what they love. #fuckcraigjones #bcream #nattykings #mexicangroundkarate 🥈

I've been reflecting on the comments made by Nicky sometime back about the split (*DDS split*). Saying, "We cut out the poison," I assume referring to Gordon. Speaking of his pride and ego. Then recently the split that happen within the B-Team which apparently involved Nicky beefing with these guys who were on their staff. I could be wrong but it appears Nicky more like Gordon than unlike Gordon, whether he realizes it or not. I can see him creating the same discomfort in his own gym just as he accuses Gordon of doing. I have seen enough recently of Nicky that gives that concern. Then given this recent split of some of the B-Team members/staff it only further affirms what I discern.

  • @fennec812

To be entirely honest, I get some high school tier drama vibes from the whole thing as far back as the DDS break up. It’s just hard to tease out how much of that is legitimate and how much of it is basically marketing… the BJJ really takes a lot of cues from MMA in terms of crafting dramatic narratives.
Personally, I don’t really care. I feel like everyone has a right to try and maximize their income-especially in a martial art where, frankly, there isn’t a whole lot of money to be made for an overwhelming majority of participants. I think it’s in people’s rights to change business policy, that happens all the time, too.
I just think it’s a bit childish that this sort of thing gets used as ammunition in essentially publicized arguments. These guys are undoubtedly amazing athletes, but I feel like they sometimes act like this shit is a bigger deal than it really is.
At the end of the day, just run your school and go compete. I feel like all the extra baggage just taints the sport, personally. But I also come from a Judo background where there is pretty minimal trash talk-at least in the open. People just show up, test themselves, and go home. Idk, these beefs just feel unprofessional, I guess.

A jiu jitsu blackbelt, especially a world class jitsu blackbelt, would be reasonable to expect the same...
I realize we are in a youtube comments section so need to wrap this up but... this isn't swinging a hammer dude. This is years of cumulative knowledge and supervising the safety of multiple children or adults through a dangerous but productive activity. It's not 75/h work.

The owners of B Team are allowed to change their minds about white belts. After all juitisu is a business too, and different demands and considerations may pop out,. They went on the record about it, so the charge of being hypocritical is neutralized. As a side note, $75 to teach a juitisu class is pretty good, that is, if you have other income coming in. Nice reporting. Thanks.

It seems like the B team opened up more as a place where they can train. Get better with better people. Strictly competition purposes. They aren't looking at it from a business perspective. White belts fund the gym way more than blue and up. White belts keep the lights on. Now if they're willing to take a massive pay cut to do this than that's fine. Which they can do because their videos sell very well on BJJ fanatics.

Craig wouldnt want to become a rival just yet, being that you wanna keep your enemies closer. So the DDS splits up from apparent egos, then two gyms were formed in another country and both gyms established around the same time in the same state and the same town back in late 2021, since then the offshoot people who left the DDS have recently had a established BJJ trainer and a competitor both departing the B-team gym, one chose to leave the other was fired from his position….. and on the other side of this DDS split if that is what you want to call it, the New Wave Jiu Jitsu gym partially owned by world renowned BJJ coach John Danaher, also partial owner a multiple World champion in multiple weight classes and multiple divisions across several different competitions is the renowned GOAT of no-Gi Gordon Ryan, the 3rd founding owner is a BJJ multi competition champion but now turned MMA competitor Gary Tonon. This new gym added new members seeking to become highly successful and in limited time became a champion at the recent ADCC World Championships in the 88kg division was Giancarlo Bodoni. So based on my above…. I think we can see who the cancer was and why the DDS broke up, and who is the successful new gym team????? 😂😂😂
