  • On 12 February 2002, Queen Elizabeth II visited Booth House in Whitechapel, the headquarters of homelessness charity the Salvation Army. Wearing clothes of mourning, the Queen made her visit only four days after the death of her sister, Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon. While the monarch focused her conversations on the work of Booth House and the experiences of those living there, the Queen was asked by one member of the public how she was coping with the loss of her sibling.

It felt like all was right in the world. She was sanity and a point of reference. It all does not feel right in the world after her passing. The two rainbows. Balmoral and Buckingham Palace. Rain stopped clouds parted and those two rainbows. A bow to her Royal Highness Our Majesty the Queen. She was such a blessing. She can rest and she did reign til her last dying breath. As she said. I AM A CITIZEN OF THE USA BUT I'VE KNOWN THE QUEEN ALL MY LIFE AND SHE WAS ALWAYS FULL OF GRACE AND HONOR! IN MY MIND SHE WOULD NEVER LEAVE US. BUT. She would have been emotional of course after her sisters death but she also seemed genuinely moved that a member of the public had taken the time or ask her if she was okay. I wonder if she had many people ask her if she was okay as being Queen she was expected to be the leader / Matriarch of the family, the monarchy and the nation. Being Monarch must be difficult and lonely at times but she did it well.

To observe the Queen clearly in a weary condition, and not in the unwavering, effortless style she nearly always commands at these events is truly exceptional.
The question, with regards to her general well-being was WAAAAAAY outside the confines of Royal Protocol, ranking right up there with the time she was bear hugged in Houston and nearly forced to eat 'potato salad', however, unlike that cataclysmic breach, I think this time she was genuinely moved.
His question triggered a most unique emotional response, that even the Queen, master of the poker face, allowed the façade to crack, if only for a fleeting moment. Despite her overall composure to be entirely unflappable, this is to the casual observer nothing remarkable, but to those who understand the Queen's impeccable professionalism and her forensic understanding of situational minutiae, the gravity of the tears, which are building rapidly in plain view for all to see, in my opinion, can be recorded as testament to how much she loved her sister, and the impact the loss had.
HMtQ's gaze upon hearing this totally unexpected, incredibly unusual, (and arguably inappropriate ) yet overwhelmingly touching & kind question definitely caught her off-guard. These situations were pops of color and a source of great enjoyment for The Duke of Edinburgh and HMtQ, as they were few and far between; brief interludes into the world of unscripted, unplanned and part of a world which their immensely elevated status & rank deprived them of - that of organic, genuine interaction with everyday, common people.
After watching this a few times, I think we can observe a nearly impossible to catch glimpse into the the eyes of Elizabeth Windsor, coming through at 7:48 just seconds after this gentleman cracked the code and opened up the metaphorical vault of her true personality, giving us a fraction of a second glimpse into what she may be like when out of public view.
That almost imperceptible sparkle in her eyes as her gaze lingered upon him for a flickering second.
With regards to the more trivial observations drawn from this video, I can think of no one, not even in the circles of high fashion (which the Queen dutifully was not a part of) whom would carry off-full mourning / head-to-toe black, with greater elegance of her uncomplicated, irreprochable style of dress; making her overall look absolutely timeless.
Odd to see her carryving that bouquet throughout... she definitely wasn't quite on her 'A-game' for this visit, but I bet she remembered it fondly.

I appreciate what you’re saying but, since Her Majesty was the Sovereign and Head of State of Jamaica, she was his Queen as much as anyone else’s. He would have been aware of that and was probably chuffed that she stopped to speak to him and was interested in his response. As Head of the Commonwealth, H.M. visited Jamaica frequently and, no doubt, had fond memories of her visits and the people she met.

This is an example why she didn’t favor Megan. She understood duty before self and that others are not to be made to feel poorly, no matter the circumstances because the British people are the life blood of the monarchy and must be treated with respect in kind for their support. This graciousness is what she taught Diana, Sophie and Kate, who were all model students but Megan sadly, never caught on that to serve is an honor and that the door swings both ways!!!

THE most gracious, loving, caring, and giving lady. Her Majesty took her station in life from the very start. She did not want to be queen but the choice was not hers (as she saw it) because this is the position that she was raised to fulfill. It just came much sooner in life than she wanted. I have always loved my Queen and was and still proud to be a part of the Commonwealth. You did your job so very well so now you can rest easy your Highness .👼👼👼👼

    I loved her very dearly.
On the day of her death I was on my way to the Autobahn to visit my (still) ailing mother some 400km away. I heard the news about the situation and started to cry immediately. Some very short time later the radio told me she had died. Again with the crying.
Some 200 kilometers later it was getting dark, and I noticed a car without tail light, still on the Autobahn. So I was their tail light. I followed them beyond the Autobahn.
Also couldn't get help from Autobahnpolizei. Towards Minden, where I was able to stop the car. They were peasents of Ukraine, two young women. So the husband of one of them escorted them home.
On my way back to Autobahn I had lost every snippet of orientation. I was tired and disoriented when the mighty flash caught me.
I had absolutely no clue about were I was or fast I was to go.
