I got the grand Highlander hybrid limited and it is AWESOME 400 mile range and it fills up with like 35 dollars here in Texas. WE LOVEEEEEE IT!
400 miles? That’s kind of disappointing this must have a smallish gas tank…
@@oldsnwbrdrwhat do you expect for a big family vehicle? like this is much better than most cars in this segment, such as the suburban, Escalade, and expedition. those have pretty bad mileage and not so good engines compared to this.
@oldsnwbrdr it's still good for a family SUV like the grand highlander?!
The vehicle has only a 17 gallon tank which is smallish for such a big SUV. And since it’s a hybrid, Toyota makes sure there are still about three gallons in the tank when the fuel gauge reaches 0.
Predicted resale value and reliability? Love that you all getting into those categories not many other review channels do.
The only other person who does this is the Car Car Nut, whose channel goes in-depth with the mechanical aspect of the vehicles.
Thanks! We also think it's important to talk about
@@brokeboy87 I follow his channel too but he doesn’t really do reviews of brand new cars like this channel/Rati’s Rides/carbuzz
We absolutely love our storm cloud blue Grand Highlander Max Platinum AWD. So roomy and so comfortable. 2 of our children just bought 1, too.
How much did you pay for the max platinum? My local was still trying to charge a markup. Maybe they get lucky but not getting that from me
How do you guys manage with a captan chair configuration though i wish the max had an 8 passenger configuration hybrids aren't bad it's just that it lags when you need that full power on time man miss the V6...
@@D0NTsmokeCRACK still smoking crack?
@@everydayfun9531 hybrid max has a lot more power than v6. v6 lags compared to it. don't smoke crack
@danguelph2676 bud it's the V4 Turbo that has lag compared to the V6 and it's noiser than the V6.
wow it is like you just can’t stop with the great review2❤😊
We've had ours since the beginning of March. Really enjoying it!
Been waiting for this one, great work and thanks!
Thank you!
Excellent review as always and happy Friday!
Have a great holiday weekend!
Got this in gas limited and so far no complaints at all. Has power and lots of space! What I dont like is there is no paddle shifters. Most importantly, better fuel consumption. Just spent 65-90 cad $ a month from a empty tank.
How is it on the highways doing 85 MPH? Does it feel like you need to keep the pedal near the floor or are you feathering it. I have a 2.0 turbo Lexus NX and it feesl underpowered when driving high speeds but my 21 V6 Highlander has insane power and drives 90 plus with ease on the highways. This is why I'm sorta hesitant of upgrading to a GH.
For me its still has power. Tried 180km/hr easy. But i think it has a limiter.
Excellent demonstration, thaaaanks brothers ,
Glad you liked it!
Yes of course & this would be my first SUV.
Guys, Great Channel! I have the limited HybridMax and I get approximately 29mpg!
Greetings from Puerto Rico!
Thanks!
This is the best 3 row full size crossover available.
I wish you guys would also start measuring the loading height in inches to see what will actually fit in the cargo. That would be a welcome addition and set you apart from the other TH-camrs
Yeah I agree fully
Thank you for the suggestion, we will take it into consideration!
Yes height is a must
I just bought my 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander platinum so far so good 😊
i just got ours too. Really enjoy the car. We have a highlander and the extra space in the GHL is worth it.
Same here. Love it.
10:39 why didn't you drive back / fwd ? That's the best part of the Panasonic view camera system.
The system paints the road underneath yourself. Not swiping around the blue car model.
I have that on my Venza too! It’s my favourite feature for sure.
I really like the way the interior looks in the platinum with brown leather compared the TX. TX looks so blah and the screen is too big in TX. Give me buttons over screens!
I like it when you show the spare tire. When you’re measuring you should note if it is 48” wide and if it could carry sheet goods.
The 3rd armrests means you can’t
Does anybody know about the bad reviews that was recently posted about this car? There was a water leak that they could not resolve, there was an electronic failure that they could not resolve. Have they worked up the bugs yet?
This vehicle is on my list but im indecisive on witch engine to choose. I do alot of city driving but i also dont want the hybrid. Is the Max my best option?
With the Hybrid Max, what is the calculated milage before the battery needs replacing? and how much does is the calculated cost? Compared to the gasoline only?
Preview a lower more affordable trim.
Most can’t afford those trim levels.
Just picked up our platinum last night. I finally get to check buying a brand new car for my wife off my bucket list! This video made me feel very confident I made the right choice 😅
Congrats on your new Toyota and glad we could help!
That's awesome! How thoughtful! 💖
The song you play during the music test is amazing. I’d love to hear the full song. Can you share artist and the title of the song? Great video
I think this Grand Highlander is a nice SUV but I just can't justice it's high price for the Platinum trim.
The gh is not a nice car 😂. Any other 3 row is better
you want a low price for a platinum trim? 😂
@@naveenthemachine I mean, that is just an outlandish statement. lol
We are torn between the Hybrid limited for the better MPG versus the Hybrid Max Limited just for a bit more features but not the MPG. I noticed on Toyota website for their standard comparison without add-ons that the platinum doesn’t have heated second-row is that correct? Need help deciding still between the two
The platinum has heated and cooled first and second rows, limited is only heated on the second row.
Toyota did such a great job on the Grand Highlander! Almost class leading space figures without being too big, and they offer three Powertrains. Still trying to decide if I like the GH styling or the TX style better
It's bigger than the sequoia without being bigger than the sequoia.
@@normanli7085 GH has bigger trunk
Go for grand highlander styling looks much better than TX styling!
I actually hate vehicles with piano black interior. Shows every single fingerprint and if it’s a sunny day the sun glares off the piano black.
This is so true. The sun glaring on the piano black is blinding. So happy to see the lack of piano black here.
I have a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum. To replace it with a 2024 model would be about $55K vs Grand Highlander Hybrid Max Platinum $60K. So is the extra room, and stronger engine worth $5K?
The GH hybrid max is as close to the perfect three row as you can get. Lots of HP and torque, huge third row, physical buttons, heated and cooled first and second rows, pano moon roof, excellent MPG (for the hp figure), great storage cubbies, man places to plug in phones and tablets and Toyota reliability. I only wonder how long it will take before it gets stolen!
The hybrid max is slow 😂
@@naveenthemachine You need to get a life I suspect. Hope you can find one...
@@robertlaberge3101 I suspect that you didn’t even bother to look at the far better executed competition
Troll
hybrid max is a no go, worst powertrain you can opt for. in real life it only gets 21-22mpg combined. very poor for a hybrid. GH is also a bit cheap plastic in cabin and lacks color options for leather and trim.
I haven’t heard a TH-cam auto reviewer say lately that they wished for More piano black surface 😂.
Just one little piece over the climate controls haha
Can you make a video with a 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander platinum exterior white and with black interior
@CarConfections , how do you rate or compare this versus Mazda CX 90 I6 or phev? which would be a better option, value?
how do you compare the drive and ride quality/
We prefer the Grand Highlander in this segment because of the space which makes it a better buy. It also rides better but is not as athletic handling-wise
@@CarConfections do you recommend up1grading to lexus tx from grand highlander? Is it worth considering?
@@user-bm7ml1hr9syea hybrid max vs the 350 or 500 for the price difference
Do you have a video on the standard hybrid for the Grand Highlander? I just ordered mine.
We briefly drove one but we don't have any dedicated videos for the regular Hybrid
I've heard in some other reviews that it drives super floaty to the point of causing car sickness. Great review as always!
I test drove one and I think I felt that. I would drive it again before I bought one.
Thanks! While it is a soft ride, we didn't experience anything that made us feel like that.
I love the lack of piano black. We currently have a Jeep GC L and the entire infortainment area + the gears and drive modes are all piano black…all of which collect massive amounts of dust. It’s horrible.
does it not have a spare tire?
GG Hybrid or Mazda PHEV?
Thinking about getting one after this video
Honestly you should go for it
Toyota transmission problems have been cropping up in 2017 to 2020 models of certain vehicles. There have been a number of complaints about the power train made to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but no safety recalls to date. The Toyota transmission complaints over the past several years have been so numerous that attorneys are now assembling complainants to join a class action lawsuit against Toyota.
The most common Toyota transmission problems logged with the NHTSA involve a lack of power or acceleration in the vehicles, or the automatic transmission remaining “stuck” in a particular gear.
Complaints also include:
Rough, delayed or sudden shifting
Failure to accelerate from a stop
Transmission shudder
Sudden loss of power
Premature transmission failure
@andresmattos7541 Just say Toyotas are too expensive for you! 😂😂 Look up other brand issues, and you'll be scared!!
@@1993rufushonestly I'd quit yapping if I were you, what the other user is saying is actually true however I wouldn't worry about it, modern Toyotas are still gonna be more reliable than most other modern cars
@@andresmattos7541 solid information but modern Toyotas are still gonna be more reliable than most other modern cars, but let's be honest cars in general are not as well-built as they used to be (all of them are gonna have issues, some more than others), but at the same time I don't think this is going to plauge a 2024 Grand Highlander
Do a blog with this vehicle get a group of your friends pile in and take a road trip then record the adventure
It’s very nice! I like it
Were you guys seeing any issues with completely filling up the gas tank on this? I have been seeing some issues where people can only put in 10-12 gallons when the low gas indicator comes on.
Everything was fine on that front
@@CarConfections My 2024 Grand Highlander Max has this problem
What a pretty car
I know you guys bought the new Santa fe (also a three row, maybe a class below the palisade). Why that over this grand highlander?
We didn't need the space of the GH and we wanted to sample the looks of the SF as well!
We like our bougie interiors! It seems that Toyota and Honda could do with an overhaul in their design departments as they are lagging behind competitors concerning exterior and interior design! The new models coming out from both of these auto makers already look dated IMO, they don’t stir up excitement to want to run out and buy either one. Reliability is lovely and all but couldn’t hurt to make them appealing as well.
Its impossible to get one of these still. My dealer told me 9-12 months wait time :/
I test drove a GH yesterday. Salesman said it would take 5+ months to receive a Platinum Hybrid Max after ordering.
When it doesn’t earn an IIHS Top Safety Pick award, I’m angry, because a lot of people are praising something that only got an acceptable rating in the driver side small overlap crash test!
How do you guys get these cars for 7 days only? Is there some sort of agreement or something
That's the length of a press loan
Hello gentlemen. Good review video for the top trim level Toyota Grand Highlander Platinum Hybrid Max. Like what was mentioned in this video this vehicle is basically a big version of Toyota compact SUV the RAV 4. The Grand Highlander has exterior design cues of the RAV 4 at the front, middle and the back. As for the interior, that's where things change where there are no design cues of the RAV 4. Toyota definitely hit the ball out of the park or delivered a slam dunk with overall interior space. They made a statement with that for sure. In terms of interior space for passengers and cargo, it would be great if a comparison video is done between this vehicle and the Chevy Traverse. Also, between this vehicle and the Volkswagen Atlas. It'll be very interesting to see those head to head comparison videos. Ever since the release of the Toyota Grand Highlander, I've seen more than quite of few of them on the road. They're selling. One question to ask would be, depending on how sales figures turn out, if overall sales for the Grand Highlander exceeds what Toyota initially anticipated, do you think we would see a next generation regular Highlander in few years or would the regular Highlander get discontinued in few years time? As for a suggestion, two segments that you guys can add for your review videos as well as vehicle comparison videos would be the turning radius and braking performance. For the turning radius the vehicle that does a complete turning circle in a shorter distance would be the better performer. In general testing out acceleration from 0 to 60mph is good. We all like that. However, testing from 60mph to 0 for braking performance is also good. Just like the turning radius where the shorter the distance the better, the same for the braking performance as well. The vehicle that stops in a shorter distance from 60mph would be the better performer. Happy Easter to both of you!!
Thanks so much! Happy Easter!

V4 turbo hybrid e engine is the best you got? Not for that price!
It's an inline 2.4L turbo hybrid making 362 HP and 400 lb*ft of torque with a zero to 60 at 5.6 seconds. What are you looking for that's not in the luxury segment?
@@volatilememory9338 a v6 all gas engine. Dont want to deal with hybrid and turbo problems/maintenance down the road
Please review the Grand Highlander Hybrid ... as the Platinum MAX is in scarce supply. Dealers state that Toyota sees more demand for the hybrid iteration. Fuel economy and the bench seat set-up are pluses. Thanks!
We will if we can locate one 👍
@@CarConfections Given your success as a TH-cam channel, and dealers' inventory starting to exceed demand, undoubtedly you will succeed in getting hold of a vehicle.
This would be a great road trip car. Probably comfortably can sleep in the back for two adults and one child.
Well one thing I think is that it looks better than the new Santa Fe.
New santa fe competes more with the highlander and or crown signia
Will the Honda Pilot get a hybrid?
It is to be seen, but we hope so!
I am torn between this and the Telluride. If I could only find a dealer around Chicago that has one to test drive. This Max is a Unicorn...
Thanks for all of your reviews.
Fingers crossed fora review of the Midlevel Cybertruck soon
I wouldn't settle with a Telluride! I LOVE my Grand Highlander!!!
Toyota of Lincolnwood has GH non hyrid in stock right now you can test drive. I got a regular Platinum back in March from them. Really great car!
The center armrest looks uncomfortable to me. Looks like the stitched edging will dig into your arm after awhile.
Truthfully it is a bit annoying.
When you guys say that the cargo space behind the 3rd row is much larger than regular highlander, Traverse, Palisade etc., I wish you could give us a more practical sense of what that means. To me, the larger space in grand highlander is fairly theoretical rather than practical. That is, the cubic space on paper is larger due to the boxier shape of the cargo space in grand highlander. But that doesn't mean that the typical spaces needed for cargo use are actually much larger than even that in the regular highlander. In many respects, grand highlander seems quite unimpressive (ex. lower material quality and legroom in the 1st and 2nd row seats), as well as actually a lower crash rating compared to the likely more thoughtfully designed 4th-gen. regular highlander that is now starting to get a bit old. In addition, the design language of the grand highlander is quite inconsistent with that of the Toyota and Lexus models introduced from 2023 on making it not as modern-looking as other newly introduced Toyota and Lexus models are. The better way to do this was to simply introduce a new generation of highlander that was simply larger and conformed to the language design of all other models introduced in 2023 and later.
Honda pilot 💪
The seats like dirty as heck already
I hate bucket seats should be bench!!

@@pengxue8789 You said it got a "poor" result in a crash test... a "poor" result is the worst of the 4 ratings available from IIHS. I looked at IIHS again for the GH, and for the crash test, it had 1 subtest that was "Acceptable" (1 step below maximum score), with the others being "Good" (maximum score)... it did not have any "poor" result, or even a "moderate" result under the IIHS rating scale. So no, the IIHS test does not say what you are asserting it says.

It has to much plastic for a 60k car
For $60,000 vehicle, it’s missing things like power folding seats from the rear for both rows as well as not having power tilt and telescoping wheel which you can get on the TX on any of their models. It’s a nice vehicle but for $60,000 It seems like Toyota really missed the mark by leaving certain things out that you would expect for that kind of price point.
