I have watched this video over and over again. I love the way the adult bunnies respond to you. They never flinch or duck away from your hand. You must spend a lot of time with them! I noticed that Cocoa and Fizz play together outside. Is this normal for 2 adult does to play together? Is it because it's a neutral territory?
Thank you. :) Some of my does can play together without fighting while others can't. It really depends on their personalities or whether they grew up together.
Oh wow their cuteness is everythinggggg ♥️♥️♥️ Im taking care of a few holland lop bunnies myself and they are playful and all but it's amazing how much your bunnies love your touch 😄😄
This is an awesome video. Do u find your rabbits destroy those pillows and stuff that you put in theyre cage. My buck and doe were in a cage together and just seem to wee and poo all over theyre cushions everytime. Is this just a male thing or both sex's do it?
I now use fleece mats, and I only need to wash them every couple weeks for most of the bunnies, as they usually stay pretty clean other than a rogue poo ball that can be vacuumed off.
I read another comment asking about the outside pen is that really 2 Midwest pens?? I’m bonding my buns soon and they each have their own 30 inch Midwest pen but once their bonded I’m connecting their cages together. That’s really *REALLY* huge I don’t think a cage that size will fit in my room!!
Hello. I was looking on your website for the pink birth box and could not find it. Where did you get the pink birth box in frame 2:09? Please let me know. And where is the best place online to purchase a good birth box. I hope you and your family and bunny rabbits, and other pet are doing well. Thank you.
The pink box came from Ebay, but I'm not sure if that seller still fabricates them. I like the metal boxes from KW Cages since they're easy to sterilize. I put some fleece on the bottom and top with absorbent Carefresh Naturals and soft hay and change as needed for the babies.
Help! These videos have been so helpful!:) I have come to a problem. My Netherland dwarf (much larger than a regular dwarf) I think she is lacking one of the dwarf genes making her about 3-3.5 maybe 4 pounds. I'm trying to breed her to a mini lop who is also a bit large for his breed 4-5 pounds. The first night I got the male apparently in the night my doe got into his cage! I missed being able to tell if they bred. The next day I put them together and watched the whole time he was not interested at all and she humped him plenty. The next day I put them together he was more interested and sniffed her and chased her but no humping. But she started squeaking and growling the whole time. Then two days later I put them together and he was humping her like crazy! He was biting her and pulling her hair out though. She kept squeaking I thought I'd try holding her down because he couldn't get the job done or do the fall. When I held her down before he could get the job done she'd wiggle out of my grasp. She's a little under 1 and he is 1. They are both first timers as am I. Any advice to tell if she's pregnant?
If they possibly bred on their own, I would not put them back together again until after at least a month when you're sure she's not pregnant. Some pregnant does growl when you put them back with a buck and some don't, so to be safe, wait and give her a nest box around 27 days after their rendezvous.
Hook's Hollands - Ohio Holland Lops ok sounds good! Thank you so much for your quick response I have been trying to breed rabbits as I aspire to be a farmer so thank you. !!
I understand you like your rabbits and they seem to trust you,Too, but why do the (very small) cages have metal bars on the ground? Doesn't seem too practical /comfortable for them to walk on. ..
Wire floors actually are very easy to keep sanitary and are suitable for rabbits like Hollands that have heavily furred feet. They had soft pillows and fleece mats to rest upon but usually preferred the wire. That being said, those were my old cages. I now have solid floor single and double story Bunny Villa condos and the bunnies are litter trained (mostly). :)
+Hook's Hollands - Ohio Holland Lops Wow, that definetly sounds better! I'd love to someday have a bunch of rabbits, preferably cutiepies like Holland lops, but currently I just don't have the time to build another enclosure in my garden... I wish you and your rabbits the best of luck and a good time together. Thank you for responding, by the way. Not everyone does :)
hi what size is your nest box? i got a nest box thats 16"x10"x9" and am worried it might be too big for her as it looks so big against her, is this the right size? what size do you recommend? i have the same breed x
I have several different sizes depending on how large the doe is. I would say that too big isn't an issue unless the babies are kept in a very cold environment - in that case, a partial lid and lots of soft hay would be helpful.
I have never had luck syringe feeding young babies. I have heard of various milks to try (kitten milk replacer, goat's milk, etc), but I've never had a doe completely refuse to feed her babies. Sometimes, I foster to other moms if one mom has too many babies, but if I don't have any bunny to foster to, I just hold the skinny baby to the mom and let it have an extra nursing session daily.
+Lilli's Lops My advice is to keep a close eye on your doe but not to stress too much about it. I worried so much about my first litters: Were they getting enough milk? Were they warm enough? Would the mom have trouble giving birth? In reality, there wasn't a whole lot I could do to intervene that would result in a different outcome. After having several litters now, I give my does a bit of exercise near their due date, cut their feed in half for three days prior to the due date (so the babies don't get too large), give them a few chunks of Tums for the calcium, and provide fresh parsley and sometimes a small crock of lukewarm raspberry leaf tea on their due date. I also try not to stress them by over-handling, loud noises, or too hot or cold temperatures. Hollands can be difficult to breed, so don't quit if you don't succeed the first time. I have a doe who missed (didn't get pregnant) for four times in a row before finally having a litter (they were all born dead). I'm not giving up on her yet since I know she's still fertile, and she's only 3 years old. Others, like my brood doe Cocoa, seem to get pregnant and kindle very easily. Good Luck!
+Hook's Hollands - Ohio Holland Lops ok thx! So I bred her the first time and it was successful, we palpated her and felt 3-4 kits. Should I lower her feed now? She's getting quite a bit of pellets. How much do you normally feed? She's a small doe too. I hope there's no complications, she so sweet and my prize winning doe. I'm not over stressed but the doe is super grumpy and digging out her pellets and diving me crazy.
+Lilli's Lops It depends on your preference, as I know breeders who don't reduce feed. My bunnies normally get 1/4 cup in the morning and another 1/4 cup in the evening if they've finished the morning feed. With my pregnant girls, I reduce this to about 1/8 cup twice daily plus hay and a bit of greens. Maybe it doesn't help, I'm not sure. :)
um . . . when your rabbit jump flip. . they actually marking their spot with urine. If you stand on the other side, you'll get some magic water. hahaha Anyway, How do I know if I got a holland rabbit or not? I got a buck and it looks like your female doe that has white body and black and brown spot.It also have the homer's mouth spot also.
It varies, but usually about 15 that I keep and some babies that are either sold as pets or kept (and then seniors are sold to make room for any babies retained). I only have 20 cages...which is pretty small for a breeder but keeps me plenty busy.
She behaves around them only because she is supervised, but I would never trust her with a loose rabbit. She is used to hunting groundhogs and raccoons, so she has an instinct to hunt small prey.
The bucks (dads) want nothing to do with raising babies and will only rebreed the doe (mother) while she's still nursing babies. Un-neutered bucks only have two things on their minds - one is food, and the other is breeding. :)
+LoveMissB A peanut is a tiny peanut-shaped baby that gets two dwarf genes from its parents; this is a fatal genetic combination unfortunately. A true dwarf gets one copy of the dwarf gene and in Holland Lops, the bunny will be 3-4 lbs. full grown. A "normal" or false dwarf has no dwarf gene and will be a larger rabbit.
They are a dwarf breed, but some Hollands have the dwarf gene and are considered "true dwarfs" and other have no dwarf gene, are about a pound larger, and are "false dwarfs."
Hook's Hollands - Ohio Holland Lops Oh ok. I bought a female about 2 weeks ago and she's nearing 3 pounds. Does that mean she's an adult dwarf? I cant find these answeres anywhere.
I don't show anymore, but each rabbit breed/color has specific eye color standards in order to be shown. Check the ARBA Standard of Perfection book for your rabbit breed. For example, in Hollands, black and chocolate based colors have dark/brown eyes, blue/lilac based colors have blue/gray eyes. BEWs have to have blue eyes not violet, marbled blue, etc, and REWs have red eyes.
The dad has no interest in the babies but will make more babies with the mom while she is still nursing her current litter. It's not responsible to keep them together unless neutered/spayed, though it would be nice if they could be like happy human families living together. :)
Actually, that's a myth. I have raised bunnies for years and always inspect the babies just after birth and daily thereafter. It's important to check for any bunnies that may have died or have injuries that need attention.
I love the broken orange babies! It was so cute when Anna was jumping to make sure you were being gentle with her babies :)

I think that at 4 weeks is when the rabbits reach their highest cuteness level.
That is a huge outside cage! We're did u get it?
It's two 30" tall Midwest exercise pens put together
This is amazing, my Dwarf Hotot gave birth to her 8 babies. It's always amazing to watch them. 💗💙💚❤💛💖

Hahaha a rogue poo ball 🤣
What cages and pink nestboxes were you using here? I really like them.
I believe those cages were from Bass and Martin's, but I don't use wire floor cages anymore.
The nest boxes were from eBay.
@@HooksHollands why don't you use wire floor caged anymore?
At 2:03 I didn’t realise you were talking about the colour and I thought you were saying it was broken and I was very confused haha.
"That one looks broken"

I might get a bunny when I go to South Carolina for summer and I need to know where do you find Holland lop bunnies?

Hi, I looked at your website not too long ago and Fizz Pop was not listed among the does. Do you still have her? Thanks!
I did sell her over the summer, but I still have her daughter, Stella.
so cute!

maybe that's what I'll do when I grow up.
LOL - I suggest getting a day job first, as I am currently just paying for expenses by selling a few bunnies. :)

Yes, that was baby Camilla. She was so little, and I had no idea that she would grow into such a gorgeous doe (and be my favorite). :)
If the doe doesn't feed her babies, what's an alternative way to go about it? What kind of milk? Etc...

Love it, I hope the dad gets to interact with the kids
Where do you purchase your cages from?
Keep the good work up but please maybe change the bottom of the cage. Bc wire is not good at all for their feet

I want the 4 week old babies!!!!

I have a question for you about show do you do show?
What do you mean by true dwarf or peanut?
+LoveMissB A peanut is a tiny peanut-shaped baby that gets two dwarf genes from its parents; this is a fatal genetic combination unfortunately. A true dwarf gets one copy of the dwarf gene and in Holland Lops, the bunny will be 3-4 lbs. full grown. A "normal" or false dwarf has no dwarf gene and will be a larger rabbit.
Thanks for the information! I didn't know that.
do you not give unlimited hay?
All of our bunnies get their hay replenished morning and evening.
what happened to the peanut bunny?
I would do anything to have a baby bunny!
I love your bunnies. i am going to breed holland lop bunnies.
Ben Travaglini me too
So am I! (If everything goes according to plan...)
VERY CUTE BREED OF BUNNIES-DO YOU DO MAIL ORDER? 😍🐰
❤️
so cute , do they allow you to touch the babies
Yes, it's important to check each baby daily to make sure everything looks good. I've never had a mom object to this.
Do you breed bunnies?
MI BUNY BIT MY MOM. plz tall me how to mak sir HE DOSINT BITE
Neutering would likely help a lot. Bucks get frustrated with the hormones.
Are all Holland Lops considered dwarfs?

When is the earliest you can take the babies away from theyr mother?
I personally don't take them away until 7 1/2 - 8+ weeks. Some breeders wean at 6 weeks, but my opinion is that is too soon.
ok thank you ^_^
I have a pet bunny and her name is snowball
My bunny having babies
My holland lop bunny looks like Anna
Why can't the dad and the baby's and mom be in the same cage

Looks like the dead rabbit got stuck and was stretched. Lucky the others survived. R.I.P to the baby
can you give me a rabbit please please please because I love rabbit ......
How mamy animal's you have
can i get a little one :(
I have 2 boy rabbits
She's making noises.
Michael Patrick witch one the baby or the dead one?
I'm not sure to be honest. I just heard probably the mom.
By the way I'm actually a girl this is just my dad's account
Pls don't touch them or the mom will kill them...
