This was during a very brief period where Layne wasn't using H. You can see it in his face. He had gained some weight, he looked good/healthy. If only he could've stayed this way.
Such a shame man..you could tell he badly wanted to be done with the addiction.. but it's grip was too strong and losing his girl was the final nail in the coffin. I had my own struggles with opiates and I've been clean/on suboxone for 3 and a half years (started to ween off finally)...and layne's music was a huge part of my life before but especially during my addiction and still is after. Wish he could've found his way out of it and wish I could thank him for how much his music has helped me and so many other people.
jondubb35 wasn't using? He's clearly loaded here. He's obviously high on heroin here, because that was Layne's 'thing'. He wasn't only high here, he was in terrible condition. If you can't hear it in his voice then I don't think you've seen anyone who takes large amounts of opiates. He's only 25 here, but he didn't sleep, he didn't eat, he didn't take care of himself at all. He started covering his hands an losing teeth just over a year later.

I love how he gives all these other artists they're flowers. Never have I seen a interview with Layne where he boast about himself...just states facts and remains super humble. Would of loved to watch him grow over the years😞💔
This is the nearing end of a very tough year for Layne, but he seems to be in pretty good spirits here. Amazing to think that they would record Jar of Flies about a week after this video was recorded. If Layne wanted it, he could've held the world by the balls, he could've been the biggest rock star of that era. But that wasn't Layne and I can relate, and I'm also thankful they didn't sell out and go mainstream. Jerry really wanted that, but Layne kept it raw.
@@MegaMasterkiller666 Using Heroin the way Layne did is a brutally traumatic experience, the way it drastically changes your brain and physiology. Imagine being transported into the body of a person who can't think, can't eat, can't feel, and has ZERO passion for any of life's pleasures or pursuits with one exception: an overwhelmingly desperate drive for chemicals -- this need has hijacked the brain's survival priorities as the number one MUST. Valued above food, water, shelter, sex. Welcome to hell: to be broken mind and body.

Happy 45th Birthday today Layne. I love and miss you. Sleep sweetly and until we meet again; thank you for all of the beautiful music you gave us before you flew away.
I do too. In fact I speak of him so often (or have spoken about) so many times and to so many people some associate Alice in Chains and Layne in particular with me, when they hear one of his songs they tell me it reminded them of me hahah. That's cool to be associated with Layne but honestly I speak of him because he truly inspires and amazes me and I KNOW he can touch people with his voice and music, no matter what they listen to usually. Also when best singers debate comes up, I know I have the exodia of singers at the back of my hand and winning every time haha. Layne just makes easy work out of 99% of singers just like that... Cheers tho, gladdens me to know I'm not the only one and he lives through all of us and that we ain't crazy... Or we are but who cares 😂 Layne Staley forever 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥
Such an awesome video! Thanks! I never knew about Rooster not getting played in the US back then. For the past 15-20 years, it's been on the radio literally every day in Massachusetts. I guess the sentiment has changed somewhat.. Also, I just saw the video for Angry Chair a month ago (and I've been an AIC fan for almost 20 years). Funny that he mentions it as his favorite video (I never even knew it existed.. I love the bushbaby on his shoulder the whole time. The perfect blend of cool and creepy lol).. 😠

If Layne only knew how fucking cool he was. Luvya layne, fucking legend.
God... I miss him so fuckin much... how's that even possible when you have NEVER even met somebody?. That's what should be when they punch you in da face and makes you wanna more. When it reaches your soul for real. That's what musicians should be. R.I.P Layne♥
Such a Great Time in Music...All The Videos he Introduced I listen to today ..RIP
he's beautiful omg
Prince...damn straight. Layne knew.
I wish he could say "This is Layne from Alice In Chains and you're watching Loudwire". RIP
C'mon Layne play us that piano.
2:25 hm, alright
That would've been awesome!!
Jack Miller wow, incredible performance by Layne ;-)
relaxing interview
The difference between his talking and singing voice is insane
Nice stuff Layne!!!
His little laugh after he talks about how he doesn't like snakes and making videos is sooooo adorable!!
Huge thankyou to the person who posted this - it's brilliant, Layne really chose some classics!
Wow, Layne Stayley and Shannon Hoon were good friends? Too cool!
Max Aronow I know this post is old, but there is a crazy picture of Shannon kissing Layne, both appear wasted btw.
Funny stuff

Yes and sad they are both gone now
Holy shot layne and thom yorke are two of my favourite singers of all time! hearing layne saying that he loves RH makes me so happy
I love how he gives all these other artists they're flowers. Never have I seen a interview with Layne where he boast about himself...just states facts and remains super humble. Would of loved to watch him grow over the years😞💔
i love the way he giggles. He is just, adorable.
Being a huge layne fan and finding out he loved prince is awesome cuz I too love prince lol
well he's chilling in heaven with prince and david bowie
Only if Christ Jesus is their Saviour and Lord. If not they are all alone ... no fellowship there. Sad

Such a narrow minded people, let the people believe what they want
Gorgeous sweet Layne....
Nirvana, RadioHead, BlindMelon and Rage Against the machine,
he had such great taste in music and what a great time for music.
What made it a tough year for Layne?
@@MegaMasterkiller666 Using Heroin the way Layne did is a brutally traumatic experience, the way it drastically changes your brain and physiology. Imagine being transported into the body of a person who can't think, can't eat, can't feel, and has ZERO passion for any of life's pleasures or pursuits with one exception: an overwhelmingly desperate drive for chemicals -- this need has hijacked the brain's survival priorities as the number one MUST. Valued above food, water, shelter, sex. Welcome to hell: to be broken mind and body.
How do you know that Jerry wanted to go mainstream?
@@mintd8365 exactly, I couldn't have said it any better!!!
Wherever you went dear Layne, miss you and love you bro, big star in the skies... And still enjoying the old records of AIC.
Miss you brother.....
Love hearing you talk, sing and be merry. Hope you're at peace and jamming with Chris and Andy
Also with his idols David Bowie and Prince ^^
Layne Looked very good...great voice ..💕
Man, he was so sweet and talented, I couldn't help but smiling everytime he smiled and crying a little remembering he's not here with us anymore, I hope he's in a better place right now, such a talented young man...
@ShitifoundonVHS Man, i don't know you but i think i love you! This is just incredible! I have no words to express how i feel....i can watch this video for hours and hours...again and again ......it makes me feel all fluffy inside and it makes me smile!THANK YOU , MAN!!!!!
Okay, this was purely awesome. We all miss you, 21 years later. RIP to such a great guy
Why would you EVER wish what happened to Layne Staley on anybody else? His story is tragic and nobody ever deserves that.
Thank you so freaking much! I love this and I love the fact Layne and I have some great taste in music. God I love you for this!
His taste is music is also amazing. RIP Layne. Love you.
When he said “hey this is layne from Alice In Chains and you’re watching ..”
I half expected him to say “and you’re watching Disney channel” lol sending love to laynes family and friends, he is dearly missed!
This was probably my favorite Layne "look"
Happy 45th Birthday today Layne. I love and miss you. Sleep sweetly and until we meet again; thank you for all of the beautiful music you gave us before you flew away.
Damn this makes me want to cry! You live through me my boy!! I talk about you all the time! My friends think I'm crazy 😂
Samee, Layne is a LEGEND💗
@@therealmuthaphukkin.g You have good taste in music 👌

damn i just feel like i found a treasure thank you sooooo much for this
He was very nice, sweet and kind person, beautiful inside and outside...like everything was perfect about him!💜
it's very sad he wasn't able to beat his chemical demons
Such an awesome video! Thanks! I never knew about Rooster not getting played in the US back then. For the past 15-20 years, it's been on the radio literally every day in Massachusetts. I guess the sentiment has changed somewhat.. Also, I just saw the video for Angry Chair a month ago (and I've been an AIC fan for almost 20 years). Funny that he mentions it as his favorite video (I never even knew it existed.. I love the bushbaby on his shoulder the whole time. The perfect blend of cool and creepy lol).. 😠
