Excellent post . You have got a good thing going here man and you handle things well like on the Chris Cornell / Layne Staley video i just watched before this one. Subbed .
@@kanachanwhisper7174 As long as you weren't being a jerk. He kicked that Nazi kids ass & dove into & fought the crowd at Clash of the Titans. Layne was badass!
He had a very powerful voice, other bands that toured with him said his voice would audibly stand out in a crowd of people singing. You have to speak softly when your vocal cords work that hard.
I know! Layne did kinda clam up a tad when talking about Jerry doing a solo record though. They could have easily changed the subject if the host sensed that. I guess in retrospect he probably just wanted to keep the pace up and had a schedule to keep. Those radio shows are timed very rigidly, and not a great way to have a loose conversation.
that conversation should have gone on for hours let layne be himself talk about what he was up too. i think the talk about cantrells solo work kinda irked layne a bit its a shame layne/ kurt. / chris cornell n scott weilend are all gone. we missed out on potentially some awesome tunes
Thank you, brother! These are the gems I enjoy. When I hear these interviews, I can tell Layne wasn't ready to be done just yet. Always great hearing him in good spirits and joking. He was so funny right to the end, in spite of his health.
@Ant Man I agree, could be music, and how they don't write it together anymore and they don't really know what their doing those days yk. Hope that made sense
I believe that Layne fell in love with Jerry as much as Jerry fell in love with Layne. I so admire Layne for encouraging Jerry to sing his songs. You can tell how connected they were on an artistic level. The brotherhood there was never in question.
I think it would’ve been fun to hang out with Jerry and Layne back then. In every video or interview they’ve always joking around like a regular friend group.
He lasted a whole 4 years after this. Of all the horrible deaths there have been of musicians from this scene, Layne’s has to be the worst. The thought of his final years and days is heartbreaking.
I believe that Layne just gave up after Demri passed away in 1996. He essentially almost never left his condo from 1996-2002. 😢 And when he did, it was always alone, typically at night, and usually just to buy video games. No one actually noticed that he'd passed away for several weeks, and it was actually his accountant who noticed that something was wrong, because he hadn't withdrawn any money from his account.
I think it's probably because the interview was supposed to be more about Jerry and his new album than Layne. Layne was a call in, and they didn't have any questions lined up for him, so they treated him like any other. He gave a vague answer on what he was up to, and that was all they could do with him. If they kept him on the line too long, Jerry might have felt ignored and slighted, and it would look bad for the DJ.
@@DaveS432Mmm f*ck Jerry seriously. Jerry ended up not being a true friend at all to Layne. Layne sure was a true friend to Jerry though. Homeless Jerry, Layne had him live with him at the practice space place. Let him have access to instruments fed him etc. Layne had a job. Jerry didn't. I'm still really miffed at the fact Jerry was a cr*ck addict and Sean was a drunk and heavily in to blow. But they were done with Layne cuz he was an H addict. They are hypocrits.
@@melaniefalke2431 Jerry was "Nona" in female attire interviewing Layne for an early promotional video. Blanche might be some inside joke between them based on that scenario.
I don’t know if it’s ever been officially confirmed, but I’ve read that when Jerry and Layne were living together, they started calling each other “Blanche” and “Rose” respectively, after the Golden Girls. :)

I'm always taken aback by the difference between Layne's speaking voice and his singing voice. Layne Staley spoke with such a gentle tone. 🥀
And he was really sweet and gentle person too 🥰

It’s so nice hearing Layne’s little chuckle
Oh layne what a gentle soul you were....
Layne seemed like such a cool guy to just chill with. He seems so laid back, amazing sense of humor, and just an all around cool guy.
Damn man Layne was definitely a light that burnt out way before it's time
He was a loser
The fact the radio host got him off the line so quick was criminal.
Yeah, what a moron. He treated Layne like some kid calling in from Sheboygan.

Yeah whether it's tv or radio I hate that when the hosts rushes off the guests. So unnatural and uptight.
@@davejohnson6702 Wasn't Layne very deep in addiction and basically a recluse at that point? He might not have wanted to talk about what he was up to.

I suspect he was referring to his “another brick in the wall” cover

It's either Jerry or Layne dressed up with hair curled, lip red lipstick on and a dress on. I forget which one it was. Her name was Blanch.
