He's in flagrant violation of the Constitution and makes our state unsafe for citizens. He puts guns in the hands of criminals and leaves the rest of us at their mercy. If more of these criminals caught some hot lead in them, they would rethink their career choices.

    I could see how they got away with $1M worth of goods. They would casually walk into stores with people present and casually take what they wanted without anybody intervening. There was a time when society wouldn't have allowed that. Everyone present would have apprehended the assailants, hog-tied them, whipped them, and shamed them in public.

      Imagine if instead of punishing crimes, you properly incentivised working an honest job and provided access to services like healthcare through taxation so that people don't have to feel desperate enough to commit crimes, that would stop many from thinking of commiting crime in the first place- if my family is facing eviction due to greedy landlords, medical bills or I can't afford food, I don't sympathize with a heartless corporation who could feed me millions of times over! I'd have to actually recognize a corporation like Walmarts right to control most of the food distribution network and take ownership of all of our produce in the first place!

    The sheriff in the video said these thugs have no fear of arrest or conviction. Isn't that very telling? It tells me that the justice system in California is screwed up that criminals know that they will be released after arrest, with no repercussions, and they go out and commit more crimes again. Law enforcement has done their job. Now the politicians, judges and prosecutors need to do their jobs!

    if the legal system does hold them accountable and actually convicts them of a crime, they will go to a climate controlled prison with television, library, recreation, medical care, dental care, 3 meals a day, academic educational services and no hard labor.     One thing that would greatly help and slow down this type of ORC would be a change in law for those buying these stolen goods. Many of the people buying these goods know that they are stolen. People buying stolen goods are a catalyst encouraging further theft of goods. This too needs to have accountability and consequences.

    No fear of arrest or conviction? Time to change the law where any theft, no matter the dollar amount, will result in a mandatory sentence of no less than 5 years in state prison. The next time it happens, they'll get 25 years mandatory. A third time will result in the death penalty. You're unable and unwilling to be rehabilitated and should be permanently removed from modern society.

    These arrests are a year after the crimes. So, why would anyone in retail feel safer??? I'm betting that 8 out of 8 are already out on bond, or minimal bond, yet alone show up for court. The only thing I'm surprised about is that they were not required to do a perp walk for the cameras, before they're bonded out. Still, on the up-side, all those robbed today have something to look forward a year from now...

    As retailer from Oakland , it is difficult to stay in business. Just about everything is locked behind plexiglass, I would have an armed security guard standing next to me at all times. Criminals would still take what ever they want (casually) they don't run or rush because if they get hurt or killed they will sue and I would definitely get the race card thrown at me because plexiglassing everything and have an armed security guard is racial profiling. Let that be a lesson to all businesses owners.

    Charge them with the appropriate felonies and lock them up for a decade and a half. Charge them under state and federal RICO statutes as they are running a continual criminal enterprise and committing crimes in furtherance of their criminal organization they are apart of.       That's what I'm saying, I find it highly unlikely for 8 underprivileged youths to smash and grab 1 million worth of products in half a year. It looked like they found storages of stolen goods. No way all of that was taken by hand out of a store. No way these smash and grabs were costing millions in losses. Now shipping containers being hit right off the boat or while their on trains is more likely.

    It also happened at a local walmart here on the central Oregon coast. They stop you to look at your receipt after they watch you check out but if you are brazen enough to break the glass case & steal a bunch of iphones they let you just dash out unhindered.
