I wish as a seller we had the same right to leave negative feedback for buyers. There is no seller protection on Ebay. They take your fees and hang you out to dry when something happens.
Actually, you can but frankly, that option impacts a seller more than a buyer when you think about it. I as a buyer can pull back from a buy all I want with minimum damage. You can give me a negative rating but I still have my money to spend. A seller with bad feed backs has product to move. You seeing 5 out of a hundred negative feedbacks of not honoring a bid is nothing compared to me seeing you with 95 out of a hundred negative feed backs from a not so good outcome of a sell. Sure Ebay would scald me over not paying after a bid which yes, it is annoying to a seller, but not getting a product as advertised or not at all is a bit more discouraging as a buyer.
A lot of scam buyers wont leave negative feedback to cover there tracks, but some most certainly will. Its just not in there best interest to do it, because other sellers might see it and cancel a sale.
Came back to eBay as I’m cleaning out my closet after 7 years of not selling and thinking it was gonna be the same experience I had back then. I quit and took everything down after 1 week of non payers, bidding then asking for cancellations, lowballing, annoying questions and harassments. It’s just not worth it. I wanted to do a huge sell and be done before my actual work gets busy again but this was a horrible experience and trying to get help from eBay was just as bad. Never selling on these platforms again. I really don’t understand people these days.
As a former seller who quit after Managed Payments came, I admire how you carry on. I watch to keep updated but have no wish to return to selling. It's a shift in culture. Everyone is getting greedy. It's a devolution. Don't expect anyone to be reasonable.
@@joesimon2029 -Not since managed payments, as the fees associated with that are less. The increase comes from now charging fees on sales tax and shipping plus promotions, which are necessary for most of us now.
Ebay should consider changing their policies in such a way that prohibits leaving negative feedback as long as (A) the seller communicated honestly and respectfully (B) the buyer did not actually lose anything in the transaction. No buyer should be able to leave negative feedback for petty or personal reasons that have nothing to do with the actual substance of the purchase.
When I do a listing, which are all “buy it now”, I always put a minimum “best offer” amount when I setup the purchase price. You wouldn’t get a best offer for that low of an amount. No problems so far! Thanks for the video!
It will auto decline the lower offer, which makes eBay not show your listing. If you just ignore it, or send another offer, ebay likes it and shows your listings more.
I use to to do this but that is an extra step and it prevents me from allowing all offers come in to deal with. I don’t mind the back and forth of haggling. A $2 lowball offer will get a response of $1 off my asking price. LOL.
@@Rock_Bill_Kaa you know you can send a counter offer for more than the item is listed for too right? I usually send back a equally ridiculous offer when I get low balled.
bottom line is you can't fix stupid!! I love it when buyers use "didn't like item" as a reason to make a return, what's really frustrating is that reputable sellers like you (and me) spend extra time going into detail about flaws/condition and don't really get anything out of it. We are definitely costing us money cuz we'd be able to list more items if we weren't spending the extra time with the details. Keep up the great work Flippin! Love your content!
I’ve had buyers offering me 35-50% of my asking price on multiple items worth hundreds of dollars. I’ve also had “potential buyers” cry about my prices despite them being comparable to sold/active listings. These buyers are going full Tard.
Lowball offers are frustrating & so are buyers who can’t read before they purchase your item, sometimes I go in & turn off the make an offer feature so they move-on.
$30 item got a 10 offer. Sent counter offer of the highest I was allowed . No reply. Sent offer of with 30% off item- they replied with a really massive low offer. I then sent the full cost of item with no sale. Some how they got to take my 30% offer . Side note: AC/DC Rocks 😎
I try to not let low offers bother me. i think it keeps items high up on the eBay priority. Sometimes I do reply with a bit of snarky comment like Thank you for your great offer!
ive canceled more transactions for "problem with address" this year than ever😂. Alot of these ppl give themselves away with msges, just unfortunately after the sale many times. But i got no problem cancelling, im not desperate and its usually on low value shit. Im not gettin my accnt fcked up over pocket change.
I recently sold a Vest for 17.99 Buyer really really really really really really wanted it at 12.99. We went back and forth best offer like 5 times, he finally accepted 17.99 I shipped it to him, he poured powder on it to make it look like a hole. Then Further damged the item 2 pictures later, making an actual hole and ebay somehow sided with him. Beware of someone who reoffers like 6 times they usually are the ones to scam in the end mad they didnt get there price.
Your third story happened to me. Someone from another continent bought my listing and before I shipped it out, they realize I didn't do international shipping and asked the order to be cancelled. I did, said no problem have a nice day. They later gave me a bad feedback because according to them, I changed the listing that I DON'T do international shipping after they made the order. I replied to them saying exactly what ebay sellers already know. YOU CANT CHANGE OR EDIT LISTINGS AFTER A SALE. Long story short ebay helped me remove the negative feedback and said to me there are people like that out there.
I had the crazy buyer situation last week, she accused me of the same thing, scamming her (yeah over $20), changing the listing after I sold it, and it being in the fine print! Absolutely insane person, sent me messages in all caps. Ebay refunded her out of their own pocket, which to her, proved her point that ebay knows I'm a scammer!
We all know Ebay policies are not fair. They need sellers "MORE" than the buyers. Why? The sellers are the ones that pay all the fees and spend lots of time filling out listings. Also, buyers are allowed to continue returning items for an unlimited number of times. A lot of retail stores are now limiting or banning shoppers with more than 3 returned items in a year. They keep a secret database that might even be shared with other retailers. This should stop the buyers who are abusing the system.
I have been getting people that place the order and then cancel like 50 min later. I’ve been wanting to quit but for some reason I’m afraid of throwing it away. But it’s WAY too much work for what I’m making. Can’t handle the scammers and entitled people anymore.
@@FlippinAintEasy I feel Like I have to make it work. I lost part of my leg in a motorcycle accident and as a condition of living my life like this I promised I would be my own boss.
I made a $1350 sale and cancelled that mess because the buyer didnt have the history it hurts because I could use the money , it ended up being sold to someone more established. Cant afford the loss especially that big
You could make a listing that says in all caps BROKEN DO NOT BUY and someone will still buy it and say that it was stated that it was broken. In my opinion, eBay should allow us to have a little more control over our businesses and make their be multiple steps that we have to follow before anyone(buyer or seller) can have eBay step in. It is just far to easy for buyers to just open a return for a bogas reason or leave a negative feedback before opening a return etc... Also, this is another reason why i've stopped mainly selling electronics. I have gotten so so many fraudulent returns, stupid buyers, people that don't read or look at pictures and especially with electronics. Not to mention that when someone opens a return you automatically get your money held up so if you sell a few expensive things and get a 5 returns pop up in a week, you could possible be down 100's of dollars for up to a month.
@@stylespond This is true but even then, you have to hope that they respond to you before you have to ship and even if they do respond and acknowledge, they can still open a return and get their refund. When I was selling electronics I got empty boxed scammed on a $300 item that I sold. Buyer opened a return immediately after they got the item and sent back an empty box. I have video of me going to the post office to pick it up, opening it and showing that it was empty and eBay still automatically send them a full refund. It wasn't until after the fact that I contacted eBay and they made me jump thru hoops and get a police report in order to get my money back. After I did that I still didn't get all of my money back. I was still out the original & return shipping, FVF & AD fee's. That was the day that I started stopping selling electronics and higher priced items in general lol.
On thing I do is go to the buyers feedback that they left for others, and if they tend to leave unnecessary often, I may choose not to accept an offer from that buyer.
It's terrible! Ebay require us to enter so much information for the buyer to not read it. Then they complain when they receive the item expecting a refund for THEIR mistake. I'm currently having issues with one at the moment. I found this video because a lot of people on ebay are either making stupid offers or generally complaining to be able to get free stuff. Then on top of that the fees are just extortionate
I've been like you for 15 years... I BLOCK people for inappropriate offers or to many questions. They are mentally ill and NOT worth the potential money. They'll just be a headache in the end. I blocked one guy and he went NUTS !!!... 1 year of messages every week !!!. Best decision I ever made. Can you imagine dealing with a buyer like that !
@@FlippinAintEasy Here is my "Bad buyer" litmus test for blocking people. I have a LARGE blocked buyer list : 1. Asking too many questions (my descriptions and photos say everything you need to know) 2. Messaging me like we're old buddies and telling me your life story. 3. In a message, stating at the end your "ex-military" and you want a discount. 4. Asking for a price reduction...getting it, then not buying the item. 5. Buying something, then immediately wanting to cancel the order. These are ALL warning signs.
Sellers are getting bad also. I sell on ebay, but also buy. Recently I've had sellers cancel orders, not even bothering to cancel orders just not sending items and waiting for you to file a claim, next up: sending orders to the wrong address, and finally poorly packaged items that arrive broken. Bad Buyers and Bad Sellers: not a good business model for ebay. Addendum: High ebay fees and now higher postage from USPS anyway.
Here's my response to ebay when they sent me an agent feedback survey...If I could give zero stars I would. No help at all with my non-paying buyer problem. We as sellers need to be able to see the non-paying buyer strikes on accounts to be able to make a decision weather or not to sell to these people. When the non-paying buyer strikes are on accounts and are not visible to sellers, it's like not being there at all. Also, we used to be able to leave negative feedback for non-paying buyers, now sellers can't leave negative feedback for buyers for any reason whatsoever. Seems like ebay caters to the buyer and doesn't care about the sellers. WE NEED TO SEE NON-PAYING BUYER STRIKES OR BE ABLE TO LEAVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK FOR THESE PEOPLE!!! DO SOMETHING TO HELP SELLERS MAKE THE DECISION WEATHER OR NOT TO SELL TO THESE PEOPLE!!!
I had someone purchase an item from me and they are now complaining about the item that they received because they did not read the description of the item!
There’s also bad sellers,I’m currently £95 down on an item I’ve paid for but which still hasn’t been posted and absolutely no communication from the seller regarding the item, absolutely unacceptable behaviour
PS-- that last one was a doozy! Talk about scammers! Negative feedback is removable, the minute eBay knows the buyer's a scammer. Anyway, keep up the good work! Love your videos for all the info and inspiration. Happy New Year!
Idk what's going on, I've been at this for 14 years with 100% positive feedback, but it just seems like a good 3\4 of the buyers who contact me or buy are nuts. Fragmented sentences, 10 messages in a row for no reason, and just a confrontational attitude.
I have been accused of changing listing info after a sale too. The trouble with eBay is sellers are only prepared to lose out so much before they find other ways to sell.
It's getting worse because eBay allows them to operate on their platform. They seem to care more about a buyer that may spend $100 a year on the platform more than a seller that generates $10,000 - $15,000 a year in sales. I think their priorities are backwards. There will always bee buyers, but the sellers will leave if eBay doesn't back them and protect them against bad buyers and scammers. Just my opinion here, I wouldn't complain about fees if I knew eBay was going to back me up in 95%+ of complaints, if they understood that "item not as described" is being used as a buyer's remorse tool, if buyers were not allowed to leave negative feedback if the seller followed the eBay policy to the letter etc.
I would say that 95% of the feedback problems I have ever had are with buyers with a feedback under 30. In my experience they generally don't know how eBay works, they don't read item descriptions, they tend to believe that the seller is always at fault (still without having read anything even when they feel there is a problem) and that the world is against them and they leave irresponsible feedback even when thatbis against their own interest, which is solving whatever problem they have. My nightmare customer-type is the one that leaves poor feedback without bothering to contact the seller first. I believe many of the problems I am talking about could be minimized by the platforms. For example, if a buyer is going to leave negative feedback, they should simply add a screen asking "are you sure?" and strongly advising the buyer to contact the seller before doing so, explaining that most sellers will provide solutions to the problem. As I see it, most platforms are obsessed with pushing buyers to leave feedback without educating them, and that is a huge, very stressful problem when sellers are evaluated based on their performance.
There's an element to this that speaks to the state of our society as a whole. People are losing their ****, and a large percentage of our population are simply dishonest people.
I stopped selling on Ebay for a long time because of bad buyers. Ebay is awful at protecting sellers. I recently found a list of bad buyers online and pasted that sucker in my blocked buyers list. I know it's a drop in the bucket but makes me feel a little bit pro active since Ebay won't help you usually. And yes, getting undeserved bad feedback removed is like pulling teeth. It can be done but you really have to jump hoops and rant to get a human being to actually look at your particular situation. Probably will step back into very minimal selling soon but ehhhhh we will see.
I don't send automatic positive feedback anymore. Not sure how that affects my account. I had an outrageous buyer and could not leave a negative feedback as I had automatically left a positive one. True feedback is not established that way.
Had a buyer accuse me of changing the listing after the sell and told them ebay doesn’t allow the listing to be changed after an item sells and they could talk to eBay CS and see what they tell them. After that nothing but crickets.
When you talked about $2 offer being a red flag, I yelled at my computer "THANK YOU". lol. I talk about this ALL the time on groups and my youtube channel. I am never too desperate to sell something to someone (even if they will take a counteroffer), because those are always the buyers that burn you in the end. Not worth it to me. On a side note, I thought if you cancel an order due to the buyers request, they are not able to leave you feedback?
@@FlippinAintEasy I think that changed. It recently happened to me as a buyer. I wanted to feedback for an item that was canceled and I was unable to. BUT, I think it only applies for the scenario where the buyer chooses to cancel.
I had the same thing happen with a replacement lid for a coffee pot. I had 1 pic out of 8 that showed the coffee pot it fit for reference. They bought the lid only and then complained that they didn't receive a carafe with it.
I agree with you on the 2nd buyer but i think you sell problematic items (incomplete , stuff that doesn`t work) that attracts bad buyers like a magnet . If think that if you focus to sell only complete stuff that works you will have less problems
I had the same problem with a power tool advertised as for parts or repair. He claimed the tool was missing parts and completely ruined inside. eBay will not remove the bad comment, it is a large paragraph with nothing but lies. Luckily I can stand behind what is included in my ad, no returns. I believe what he was trying to do was switch out tools with his old junked-out one and get a return, which is fraud. Can't eBay see this?
I had same thing happen on another selling platform. Lady accused me of changing the pictures. Instead of going back and forth with her I went right to Poshmart and shared what she was trying to accuse me of. I told this woman first I can’t change anything especially when it sells, second I’d never do that. These platforms can check on the backend so she probably should have came up with another lie. Posh sided with me, it was buyer remorse and she was trying to play the game of, claiming and keeping item. Thanks for sharing feels good knowing I’m not alone on this ridiculousness! Looking forward to your next video!
one of the frustrating things as a seller is that buyers dont read titles or descriptions fully or properly even if i say in the subtitle read details before buying! and then they complain or wish to return because of something they failed to read! and to add to it all ebay say i should refund them and pay for them to return the item! so annoying! ebay should make buyers read all descriptions, and or check with seller if not sure about something before buying. it only takes a quick message!
If you are selling multiple items, there IS (or was back in 2017) a loop hole to change the description and item name AFTER THE SALE. I've had a seller do it with me for a phone case. I couldn't believe it when it happened, but it did happen. Fortunately, I had screenshots to prove it. It was supposed to be the the protective case to a Galaxy S6, but the seller was selling multiple cases to a Galaxy S6 "EDGE" and left off the word "edge" from his listing. I asked the seller if he/she was sure it was to the regular Galaxy S6 and not an "Edge" and he said it was to the regular S6. I bought it. I received a case for an EDGE and then looked at the listing and the title had been CHANGED to say EDGE! I didn't even know that could be done. What allowed the seller to do it was that he was technically STILL selling the item because he had multiples. However, because I was suspicious of the listing to begin with, I took screen shots. I mailed it back and got a refund.
It must have changed. If you do as much as make or accept an offer on an item, ebay will lock most of the listing from being edited. It is not currently possible to do.
I can’t be the only one that’s having people bid on items, outbid others for same item and then don’t pay I’ve had a run of nothing but that it sucks because that means my items just sit in my inventory waiting to be paid for and shipped and they don’t reply to messages. They don’t reply to anything even when you try to help them out and make it a little bit cheaper by taking some off of the shipping. I still have not seen one TH-cam video that covers this.
The buyer DID read the description. It is HIGHLY PROBABLE that it is a competing seller that wants to disrupt your sales because one of his multiple accounts is trying to sell similar items.
I use software on Canva.com however you can probably do this on photoshop or something like that too. I haven’t had one issue with a part or repair listing since doing this.
Your always going to have those issues unless you own the platform. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Any new platform will take all of a year or two to establish all the same fees, problems, etc - because the market leader sets the market. In this case that's ebay. If a platform sees what eBay is charging you can bet their end goal is to end up in that range. It might take awhile but it's where all roads end up.
If the item is faulty or for spares I would always make sure the words spares/repairs only, "doesn't work" or something like that is included in the item title - and in CAPITALS. Regarding the 2 dollar low-ball offer: is it just possible that this is a newbie eBayer, or someone new to making offers, who was trying to ask you for a 2 dollar price reduction?
Happened to me tonight. How hard is it for eBay to force buyers to autopay after they agree to bid or accept a best offer. Other sites do it. It’s been a problem since the site was started.
Closing my eBay account that I’ve had for 12 years because of this very issue. Absolutely no protection for sellers. I’ve been both on eBay (buyer and seller), but I feel way too vulnerable to unscrupulous buyers and no protection from eBay, so it’s no longer a viable option for me.
I switched to eBy because Grailed buyers were so bad. Now eBay is doing the same stuff. They send so many bad buyers my way. And every buyer has 100% positive feedback. Any day now I'm leaving eBay
On the first one, it's really no harm no foul as you don't lose anything. (Unlike the end of the PayPal days where they would NOT give you fees back). On the crazy offer, I set automatic decline levels on all my best offer items.
Sorry to hear your bad spell! Appreciate you sharing this! Stay positive keep Thrifting you’ll come through stronger bro! Unfortunately there will always be dodge Buyers!
It definately seems like bad buyers are getting worse. We work hard to put details in the listings and they neither read the listing nor look at the pics. Then they go all INAD and we foot the bill. I hate to be negative but the whole Ebay experience is getting overly frustrating. Sales are down because traffic is down, and we have to deal with this stuff.
Cheap lunatics. As a college student who is trying to pay their way. It’s suuuupppeeeeerrrr annoying when people nit pick on stuff like packaging issues when I triple package and it still gets ruined because of usps. Just know if you are buying on eBay expect a tiny bit of wear and tear if not take your cheap ass to a store and get it full price. Tired of this.
I've been on eBay since 1998, and am proud of my 100% feedback score. I've sold all kinds of collectibles. Buyers rarely have given me any problems. But eBay is definitely not what it once was: FUN!! I wish it had stayed an auction site. The listing process has become impossibly complex. Surprise bargains are few and far between because of all the moron sellers who think their garbage is priceless. And they keep relisting at the same ridiculous prices. There are also far more semiliterates who don't bother to learn the rules of buying and selling. Lately I've listed less and less as a result. Too bad TINA.
I have dealt with all three of your situations. I always get low ball offers I don’t block them unless they keep coming at me with more low ball offers after the initial offer. I’ve had people offer $5 for a $50 item. I’ve even listed vintage EMPTY train car boxes - no train, just the box, and buyers will write you a message and ask “what’s in the box?” I just write back and say “air”. 😂 If people can’t read, it’s not my fault. As for the last situation, that’s a doozy! eBay will always have your back on that. There is some craziness that you have to deal with as an eBay seller but we as sellers have to sometimes be weary of bad buyers. Thanks for sharing these experiences. I hope you don’t have to fight anymore with the third buyer about that bogus return request! 🙄
The worst buyer I had to deal with had a Feedback of 31. After he left me a bad Feedback, I checked what he had left for other sellers. Out of his 31 purchases, he left 29 NEGATIVES !! I reported this to eBay and he eventually disappeared from the site.
LOL-- 'are you crazy' and 'are bad buyers getting worse' are two totally separate questions!! I can say YES to the second one, jury's still out on the first. Mentioned recently I have given up auctions and only do fixed price with BIN and immediate payment. The only glitch I get is when I am sent an offer and I accept and then.....crickets. I inform them they have 24 hours to pay and if nothing shows up, I simply relist. I may lose a final value fee, but I don't want to keep an item in limbo until I hear from someone, unable to pay til next month, etc. But yes, bad buyers seem to be honing their game.
People not paying immediately or that day is one of the most annoying things. If the end up never paying, it can take a week or more before you can cancel the transaction without penalty. I just say screw it and cancel on them anyway. I have a 100% rating over 900 feedback but dont take that as me being a pushover. I get good feedback because I have a good service. I dont play with these people. I'll put them in their place. They cant hold me hostage for a negative feedback
I block those $2 bids as well. Ticks me off because they are wasting my time. Yes buyers have a right to express their opinion but when they out right lie and you have proof they are lying it should be removed.
I usually start selling on ebay and have plenty of good transaction, over 900 and 100% positive feedback. But after 1-2 months I usually end up closing all my remaining buy it now listings because I Just cant handle the stress of people and their BS. If you leave a package in a blue USPS box and it doesn't get scanned right away, buyers act like you're lying no matter what you tell them. I just dont understand how they think it benefits the seller to pay and print a label, then not ship it. How does that help me? Then people that say CAN YOU TELL ME X ABOUT ITEM? PLEASE BE HONEST! Implying I would lie, and the listing ALREADY HAS THAT INFORMATION in the description, they just didn't read it.... Last one was I had 2 BUSINESS DAYS handling time on my listing, and the delivery date is still a week away. Buyer less than 2 days after purchase: WHERE IS MY ITEM WHY HASN"T IT SHIPPED? like seriously??????
Thing is you as a seller have way to much time to ship the package. Once sale is finished that package should be shipped within 48 hrs. Then you choose the cheapest and slowest way to ship it. It takes 2 to 3 weeks for it to get to destination. Sometimes without tracking i have bought from ebay and sellers give that bs response of i am behind. So yes i will leave bad reviews because you got my money right away while you drug your feet and was more worried about selling that next item than shipping out what you sold.
I've had ebay tell me the same thing over a negative feedback. I tell them this is for sellers and if they have represented the item right and shipped it on time and it arrived in good condition then the negative needs removed. That this is not Amazon where they get to leave a negative over what they feel about the product. If they will not remove it I keep going on and on to the next CS rep. I have had so many removed but it's a pain in the butt to have to do it! Now, I'm at the point where I don't give a rip if you leave me negative and I'm just listing what inventory I have left to sell and the heck with with ebay.
1. the youtube algorithm allows really long videos 200+ hours is the longest video i have seen and it was a shot of an amiga keyboard. if your video fails to upload it is not youtube deeming that the video is too long it is probably a problem with your isp maybe they are changing hardware on the lines, or a car crash clipped a pole and brought down the cable somewhere or your isp offering a new bandwidth tier and re programming your cable modem so it reboots. 2. you can avoid retaliatory negative feedback by blocking the seller then when you publish their name being sure not to show your computer screen so that they cant associate your ebay id with the video and their purchase. if you do have to show your screen have a dedicated account just for tutorial purposes and never use the actual name of the buyer that you want to block as the example if you have already shown your main account name in a past video then take down the video and edit that out and put the video back up and do all that quietly. the reason that someone can leave a retaliatory negative feedback is they was in a bad transaction with you and then saw their name in one of your videos. nothing wrong with canceling an order for an item if they did not see or somehow glossed over the fact it was broken for parts. it would be better to not be in such hurry to buy an item. wait 60 days then publish the name or the video. even i have overlooked something about an item and it wasnt until a little later when i discover my mistake. if the item is perfectly or near perfectly working and just used it is well worth the $70. $2 is a joke because you need to make money if you invested money and time into getting it up for sale. if an item is changed after it has been listed the revisions show up in the listing so if you did any revisions they should show up. i think it is a matter of the buyer did not read that the the box was just for illustration and that the listing is just for the base.
The good sellers should be mad at eBay for protecting bad sellers. There's so many good buyers leaving eBay by the 10s of millions, on trac to losing 20,000,000 or more this year alone. I just quit and requested my account closed after ordering 18 orders 3 of them from bad sellers. One sent me a damaged package because of the packaging. Post office flaged it, recorded it, put in visible damage bag and delivered, then updated tracking to show the damage item. It was dead aquatic plants leaking rotten sewage everywhere and smells wouldn't wash off. It was shipped late then I saw about 25 other customers start filing feedback about same problem. Seller refused refund to us all and made us wait until case closed for eBay to return money. He cussed at us all from the looks of it and try to bully us. Another did all the same for item that never came a month after send date, feedback once again started going off and tons of people saying same thing, never got item. He called me a theif and liar, cussed at me, stalked me through other sellers, talking with them about me and then admitting it in our correspondence for case resolution. The third changed the bulk description after I had already bought to read less then half of what I paid for, then sent me even less then half. I took screen shots before and after sale so had the proof after he had also accused me of ripping him off and wouldn't refund. EBay finally did at end of case after seeing he voided contract after altering it, it even changed on my final receipt they sent me somehow as well as under original listing. That once sold should become a record and shouldn't be able to be altered by sellers once sale is contracted but eBay has giving sellers a work around if item is sold as a bulk item. If ebay didn't allow bad sellers to change or erase feedback, especially when you have all the proof in the world, correspondences where they are being rude, cussing, bullying, calling theif or liar, refusing refunds as a way of punishment for legitimate cases or honest feedback. I have cameras on my house that see all mail being delivered, I show cameras each package and label, I record opening packages, I get records from postal services, I get statements from postal workers, I have then watch me repackage and send my returns as well as take video and pictures. Sad I feel like I must go through all that for something that's supposed to be Convenient, fast, hassle free and safe. It's non of those things. Even with all proof the sellers remain selling and abusing and driving off good customers, from the feedback that will only be there until case is closed, buyer quits eBay and or seller gets it removed even know they deserve the professional style honest feedback. If ebay didn't allow them to change or erase customers honest feedback I could make better informed decisions on who to order through. They refuse to give the buyer the most important tool necessary for them to make a informed decision on whom to buy from. Oh and I wouldn't close a case on a promise to refund either, too many times do bad sellers never ship item or ship broken items to begin with and when customers complain and open case the seller lies says close the case and I will refund then never do or never send promise item u paid for and then ebay says can't do anything about it, the case has been closed. So never close a case on a promise.
I had a good situation last week. I sold a collectible train engine for $282. No box stated nor pictured. I used a train box with foam inserts to ship the train. It was NOT a matching box. The box did its job and got the train to the buyer safely. First he asked for $80 back. Then he filed Not as described. We said send it back for full refund. He chose to keep the train but left a negative that said we ruined the box. We let Ebay know that he attempted to get a discount and that we offered full refund with return....and that the listing clearly stated no box and no box was pictured. Ebay removed the negative feedback...BTW.. a matching train box would have attracted more collectors and garnered more money for the train.... Maybe we should have sold that box to someone who had the train...
In my experience Seller are becoming worse, description of them not real missing parts, faulty. All 3 happened to me when I bought a PC. Seller won't communicate at all, but did admitted to item not as described. Turns out store operated out of China. Now returned, seller claims mail fraud missing parts.
I put a banner stating “Parts or Repair Only” at the bottom of the main photo of the listing. I use the title to describe the item since we only have 80 characters to work with
Ebay doesn't stand by the "Parts or Not Working" description anymore. I had a return opened against me, and thought it was a no brainer that Ebay would be on my side. I was wrong... Ebay stands by their 30 day return policy instead and allowed the buyer to return it.
I am giving it a shot and will report to you guys in a couple of weeks if I will be sticking with them or not. Sometimes you have to step outside the box to discover what can work.
If you cant use "immediate payment" like on a buy it now, its not really worth listing. Or even when you do require immediate payment, and use the "send offer" feature, a buyer can accept but then not pay. Its h3ll trying to get it relisted, it can take a week or more. These people are trash. I had one buyer who didn't pay and if you look at his feedback, PAGES and pages of feedback that the dude doesn't pay for anything. But he is allowed to keep on truckin on ebay. Its a joke of a site.
P S. I meant to also comment on the importance of reading the full description on items. It recently saved me from making a bad purchase. I was looking to buy an original oil painting for my home. It was vintage and painted in 1927. The artist was Ukranian and at an unusually good price. Although, I've been seeing a lot of vintage original Ukranian artwork flooding the market right now. Upon further investigation, I found the disclosure. It was painted on cardboard and had damage to the bottom corner. If it's too good of a deal, look carefully before you leap.
Ebay has the refund screen set by default where the shipping is not refunded. You have to toggle this on if you want to refund the original shipping. Of course if you offer free shipping you can’t do this and you have to refund them the entire thing back.
This is sort of a hard line approach but I have learned that if they don't get a box or carafe then don't show a box with a carafe....especially as your first picture. We use to call that a version of Bait and Switch in the old days. I use to include an item in pictures to illustrate scale...or to show the compatible model. It caused quite a few INAD disputes. SOME buyers don't read. Some don't review pictures. Some don't take responsibility for their actions and Ebay (+Amazon) have that huge loophole. INAD always gets your money back and seller paid return shipping. The goal in retail is and has always been to get people to shop on impulse.. think impulse isle. You just want all the obstacles removed that makes a buyer resist buying. I know, but can't prove, I sell more because the buyer can buy confidently from me and there will be no real consequences to them. That's Ebay. That's Amazon. That's Walmart. That's Costco. That's me!
Are you sure that bad buyer wasn’t a seller? Hater Jealousy is rampant … I get this at times but I block them .. I tried to block my last crazy and eBay has taken away my ability to block! 🤷🏻♀️
Hi! Are you familiar with the potential for problems with shipping items to the address 8 McCullough Drive New Castle DE? Or 1140 River Road New Castle? Could you cover in a future live discussion or video? I’ve watched other content providers discuss and I’ve read some about it on eBay forum, but I would like your thoughts and experiences, or thoughts from your colleagues. Thank you!!
No, i did not hear about that before. Just looked it up. Bottom line, if someone asks you to change an address *For Any Reason * just cancel the sale and have them repurchase. If they are serious they will rent your item with the correct address. If they are scanners they will move on to another seller. You don’t want that headache and ebay will not back you up if you ship to another address. I will consider doing a video. Thanks.
@@FlippinAintEasy thanks for quick response…just to clarify, one seller said the buyer used that address on the purchase…didn’t ask them to change it, but then claimed it was damaged and asked seller for refund OR to pay for the item to be shipped back from Georgia (the country), I enjoy all your content!
@@kamillsap3155 A lot of addresses are used as "middle men" in a way, like you ship to that address and its some kind of business or something that then ships it out of country. Buyers from overseas try to bypass your "US ONLY" shipping policy with addresses like that.
Hello John, just being on both sides selling and buying on eBay, I tend to not read the listing description or see all photos sometimes 🙃, when people look for items they look for many items and they get confused. In general some sellers are very generous on eBay so buyers might be spoiled, I think it's just happens from time to everyone to get a buyer who doesn't read.
I agree on the last one it was his mistake to include the box in the photo. On my listings when I have mixed items I will state that if it is in the photos that is what I'm shipping to you.
As a seller myself, buyers don't read all of the information because Ebay shows too much garbage around our listings in the form of adds and other useless information not related to the actual listing.
Its YOUR MONEY. The reason you dont look closely is you know you can screw the seller and get your money back for any reason. If there was NO WAY for you to return, no matter what, you would be looking at EVERY PICTURE, reading THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION, and checking SELLER FEEDBACK. But instead you say whatever and click the purchase button because you know you can return it. Thanks for exposing modern buyers to us.
Wow.. this get you really fired, I buy without reading mostly from sellers I already purchased, I really return items.. usually I seel the item with lost if I don't like it. Yeah wish all buyers were like me..
People suck but just do what other people do on eBay say no returns under no circumstances if you have 99% feedback it shouldn’t mess with your overall score. As a buyer of items some people do mess up on listings and sometimes people mess up in the excitement of trying to get the item so they don’t read the whole thing. I had a seller try to threaten me with a strike because I didn’t want the shirt in his posting says medium but in reality it’s an xl that fits like a medium which is how their sizing works. But if he were to file a strike he’d lose because listing is false technically speaking. Still bought but definitely gonna give him like 3/5 for the way he came at me.
Don't pay attention to those drastically low offers from buyers like this. They are fishing or trolling. If a buyer does this I just ignore them; BUT, if I see thier name a second time they will get blocked.
let me tell you YOUNGER people : Buyers over 50 years old= rarely a problem. Buyers in the 20 to 30 year old age = LOTS of problems. Also younger buyers expect their items to be shipping the SECOND they click "buy it now" , and for the item to arrive in under 24 hours ! I wake up and thank Jesus every day that I do NOT deal with vintage video game systems ! LOL.
I questioned a Seller wagon wheel love seat . And picknick table that folds down Bench . The person starts. Sending buy it now . And all I wanted to know was why were they so cheep . 8 year ago what i mentioned was 499 . Each
In general tho Jordan re-sellers about 95 percent of them are a-wholes! They think they have the shyt and either don't respond to questions, are condescending and arrogant. I hope bad resellers get bad karma too
I'll take a bad buyer on eBay over any one you see out in brick and mortar stores. Face to face confrontations belittling the employees, destroying product in store, trying to steal, tossing garbage on shelves and the list goes on.
OK but the employee isn't directly losing money, in fact they're still MAKING money because the paycheck still comes. Losing an item, or shipping, or fees, or whatever, comes right out of the sellers pocket. They dont even have to return the item you sent them and its nearly impossible to prove it. Ebay will just say "well we dont know what you shipped them" and tell you to pound sand
I found a high brand boot in the bins and sold it as single boot for amputee. I all caps in the title amputee. The buyer complained that for $10 he didn’t get 2 boots.
same here I have a buyer from Abu Dhabi and the worst thing was I refunded the money and my item didn't return one of my expensive items also he claim that the item didn't arrive on time after 3 days of shipping haha Canada to UAE not possible
I wish as a seller we had the same right to leave negative feedback for buyers. There is no seller protection on Ebay. They take your fees and hang you out to dry when something happens.
@@stylespond That is against ebay policy. They call it a False Positive and it will be removed at the buyer's request.
@@PaulEvansRadiosAndMore So? Just because you like your cheeks lubed and ready for reaming doesn't mean I do. If its all you can do, then so be it.
@@The_Oblivion_Light -No it doesn’t. I have always told the truth on buyers who where dishonest.
Did you feel like you were making LESS $$$$ after the managed payments thing began ?
@@joesimon2029 -Not since managed payments, as the fees associated with that are less. The increase comes from now charging fees on sales tax and shipping plus promotions, which are necessary for most of us now.
@@lajohnson1967 Just curious: what percentage of all your sales gets taken out of your final net ?
Ebay should consider changing their policies in such a way that prohibits leaving negative feedback as long as (A) the seller communicated honestly and respectfully (B) the buyer did not actually lose anything in the transaction. No buyer should be able to leave negative feedback for petty or personal reasons that have nothing to do with the actual substance of the purchase.
The buyers are getting worse and more entitled.
@@stylespond that is absolutely no excuse at all!
Ebay coddles these buyers unfortunately.
They have plenty of Chinese and big box retailers who sell millions of items per year. Us individual or small time sellers are nothing to them.
I have been getting people that place the order and then cancel like 50 min later. I’ve been wanting to quit but for some reason I’m afraid of throwing it away. But it’s WAY too much work for what I’m making. Can’t handle the scammers and entitled people anymore.
Part of the game unfortunately. Reselling can be rewarding but not for everyone.

If item is listed as defective and someone buys but they seem like a dodgy buyer. Email them to make sure they know what they are getting.
🤣🤣🤣
Can you imagine actually selling an item to someone like that?
@@FlippinAintEasy Here is my "Bad buyer" litmus test for blocking people. I have a LARGE blocked buyer list :
1. Asking too many questions (my descriptions and photos say everything you need to know)
I started off the year with a non-paying buyer.
Many of them unfortunately
Great show! Keep us in the loop more please!!!
Trust me. It’s not just you.
Would not believe how many people ONLY look at the first picture and don’t read any of the listing.
I have been accused of changing listing info after a sale too. The trouble with eBay is sellers are only prepared to lose out so much before they find other ways to sell.
Yes. Thank you Poshmark, mukari, Etsy, Amazon
There is no perfect platform. All these issues exist everywhere else too.
Just state your side of things ie reply ...then block them
There's an element to this that speaks to the state of our society as a whole.
I have buyers who clicked the buy button but never paid...why do these guys do this to me?
you're not alone hehe.
It has happened to me once a couple of years ago. Unless something has changed that i was not aware of.
@@FlippinAintEasy I think that changed. It recently happened to me as a buyer. I wanted to feedback for an item that was canceled and I was unable to. BUT, I think it only applies for the scenario where the buyer chooses to cancel.

Man they're getting worse .... horrible actually!
No you SHOULD call them out!!! Bet I do if my buyer doesn't pay!
How did you do the repair thing in red? That’s cool. That would make things so much better.
I use software on Canva.com however you can probably do this on photoshop or something like that too. I haven’t had one issue with a part or repair listing since doing this.
eBay has removed negative feedback for me.
I flick through chat agents like a deck of cards. the consistency in non existent.
Bad buyers, Ebay’s high fees, and new tax laws are making Ebay selling look very unattractive to small-time sellers.
The worst is not paying for an auction because of the time investment on the seller’s end.
I have the Stag kettles with no base plates that's brand new
Dude, you much come to realize people on eBay are the lowest trash buyers, I just blick them or refuse them to accept any offers that i don't like.
I understand who many of the buyers are however if you play the game right you will get more conversions from these offers.
It's OK. Me and other friends of mine that also sell on EB, do share buyer names that are bad news. So we all block that bad news person...
Yes they are getting worse unfortunately. I think eBay is going to be doing something soon to combat this problem.
yea, take more money from the seller.
I can confirm at times I can certainly be called crazy.
I only ever put buy it now on my listings and put as much detail in the descriptions as I can.
Low offers I just decline and block. It happens way too often
2. you can avoid retaliatory negative feedback by blocking the seller then when you publish their name being sure not to show your computer screen so that they cant associate your ebay id with the video and their purchase.
if you do have to show your screen have a dedicated account just for tutorial purposes and never use the actual name of the buyer that you want to block as the example
if you have already shown your main account name in a past video then take down the video and edit that out and put the video back up and do all that quietly.
the reason that someone can leave a retaliatory negative feedback is they was in a bad transaction with you and then saw their name in one of your videos.
nothing wrong with canceling an order for an item if they did not see or somehow glossed over the fact it was broken for parts.
it would be better to not be in such hurry to buy an item.
wait 60 days then publish the name or the video.
even i have overlooked something about an item and it wasnt until a little later when i discover my mistake.
if the item is perfectly or near perfectly working and just used it is well worth the $70.
I would put the last buyer's ID and the bad experience on the Blocked Buyers for Ebay Facebook page once the matter is closed.
Either A -flat out dumb or B - a crook trying to steal your stuff
In my experience Seller are becoming worse, description of them not real missing parts, faulty.
All 3 happened to me when I bought a PC.
Seller won't communicate at all, but did admitted to item not as described. Turns out store operated out of China.
Now returned, seller claims mail fraud missing parts.
That is the time you dispute through eBay and then file a chargeback if that doesn’t work
Sometimes buyers buy to quickly without looking closely at the image or read the description. You have to put parts or repair in the listing name.
There’s been a lot of buyers way overbidding on auctions and then the item gets relisted. I don’t do auctions so it isn’t my items.
START BLOCKING THESE PEOPLE !!
Wait I didn't know they have to pay for the 1st shipping label I thought they get it all back?
I call those shirts a big boy medium.
Don't pay attention to those drastically low offers from buyers like this. They are fishing or trolling. If a buyer does this I just ignore them; BUT, if I see thier name a second time they will get blocked.
How do you call ebay?
You actually request a call back through ebay Help and Contact page
let me tell you YOUNGER people : Buyers over 50 years old= rarely a problem.
LOL.
Block Party! Brilliant
I watch those videos all the time on TH-cam. I agree with you.
Really? Are you joking or for real? If true I don't think the item would sell and your time spent would not be productive.
same here I have a buyer from Abu Dhabi and the worst thing was I refunded the money and my item didn't return one of my expensive items also he claim that the item didn't arrive on time after 3 days of shipping haha Canada to UAE not possible
The Truth doesnt belong to anyone it just is...
