Proud owner of a hulk and a no date Sub. My recommendation is to get one now with the maxi size lugs, especially if you are of a bigger build. I believe that when the updated Sub comes out with the new movement (likely early 2021), then Rolex will revert back to more traditional smaller lugs. And the hulk will be discontinued. Get one now! The world’s greatest every day watch.

My only issue with the Sub is that it seems everyone owns one. Just lay attention the next time you’re at an airport, Disney, etc (if we ever get there again!). The Sub seems to be on every other wrist

If you live in a major financial hub or other large cities you'd probably see someone wear it every couple of days. That's the funny thing, you can't seem to find one from an AD these days but they're still quite common.

I have a no date 114060 and chose it because I didn’t want the hassle of setting the date if it runs out of charge. The thing is I do find myself looking at it to check the date sometimes so I’m considering getting a sub date in the future as I miss not having it, something I didn’t anticipate. Saying that though, the sub no date is definitely a nicer looking and more symmetrical watch.
I bought the 114060 no date a few years ago and it’s one of the best watch buying decisions I have ever made. As mentioned, it goes with every occasion and is a joy to wear. If I had to sell my watches, I think it would be the last to go.

Purchased a new SubC No Date 114060 in 2015 best watch for $6900 from an AD and I do not regret purchase 5 years later it was by far the best watch decision I have made.
The ultimate modern Sub is the green bezel LVc “Starbucks”. It’s absolutely perfection in form and function. I dive with it as well as everything else from waterparks, upscale variations, etc…. It’s the one watch that just works in every environment. I have owned a lot of Sub’s over 3 decades and the Starbucks has just enough green to “pop”. My Hulk was just too much green over time and actually limited it’s versatility to me. The 12 series Sub case and bracelet eliminates all the blocky mistakes of the previous generation and seems more of a natural evolution of the classic 60s Sub.

Eric you have a good point. I love all my subs, Kermit, Hulk, Solid Gold Blue dial etc. Everything you said is true however when you strap on an F.P. Journe or an Aquanaut/Nautilus or a Lange & Sohne it’s a whole different world.

I absolutely love the Submariner and would agree that it is one of the most, if not the most iconic watches Rolex has to offer but as far as the most sought after , I do believe the Daytona rivals it, if not has it beat, but seriously can't go wrong with either of them.
I bought my Subbie in 1986. My cousin got it in the PX on the Ike while in Europe. I save birthday money, cut grass and put a few bucks away for about five years. When I got it, it was the closest to Christmas I had felt in years. That watch has been on my wrist almost every day for 34 years. After 3 major services and so much wear I was ready to retire it and put it away. Being blessed over the years I can now afford most any of the Rolexes that I want. I wanted to buy a Redline Dweller but I had no idea of the games the ADs play. I am not going to pay over sticker for anything. My brother said, man you already have the watch, fix that Sub up. So I took it to the AD and said I wanted the works including buffing because I don’t give a shit about patina. Six weeks later she comes back. When they took it out the bag I actually teared up. The watch was absolutely new! I could not tell it was my old watch. All the old markings are gone. It is just beautiful. New crown, bracelet, bezel, and now keeps perfect time. Only now I wear her once or twice a week. I never really knew what I had. I told the AD that if he got the Sea Dweller in, I wouldn’t trade even up. I don’t care about its value or what it’s worth, it’s now part of my patina and I’m so proud to own it.

I finally purchased the Submariner Date I’ve wanted since I was 10.I paid quite a bit but I got the 2009 Rehaut with aluminum bezel in great condition. I was considering diving in the Keys with it but now I’m having second thoughts.Awesome video thanks Eric.
You‘re right, Eric! The Submariner is simply the best!! I bought my no-Date-Steel-Sub two and a half year before, and I never get bored!!! I go diving with that watch, and sometimes my use is a little bit rough, indeed, there are some small scratches in the housing, but that doesn‘t matter: this is a tool watch! And it is the very best!!!!

I have the 116610LN sub bought new from the AD last year, with a busy work life and now no wear to go thanks to beer virus here in the UK it had been in the watch box the past 4 months so I put it on to wear in the garden last weekend and my god this watch is beautiful I couldn’t stop looking at it, so glad I’ve got one.
Just one thing though......you can't disagree that the Patek on your wrist blows EVERYTHING into the water behind you including all three subs in your hand

Nothing like a brand new Rolex Sub gold and steel black dial.. the new max subs are the best ever.. really really nice. The 3135 movement is trojan workhorse.. the subs are made for any occasion they just look badass.. and so rare..
My first Rolex was a submariner I bought almost 30 years ago for $3k. I sold it recently for $9k to purchase the new one with the ceramic bezel. I had it serviced once in all that time and it worked flawlessly. What other anything can you use for almost 30 years and then make triple what you bought it for?

1) what other model is just as iconic? AP Royal Oak , Cartier tank, JLC Reverso, speedmaster moonwatch,.. 2) you can’t travel/go everywhere with it. In some countries walking with a sub is asking to get robbed. A travel agent once told: war ever you do, leave your Rolex at home if you go to (for example) Brazil.

When I watched your previous video about the Hulk, I was like 'man, I need to get that one, it is so nice, well made and high class.' When I actually get one, it is so amazing and I like it a lot. However, when I see my staff is using one as well, I was thinking maybe it is not that prestige. So, I bought another patek.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Submariner is iconic and lifted Rolex. A bit like Omega with the Man on the Moon (watch). I will add one into the mix one day. I was a submariner in the Royal Navy I had to get one, I got the pre ceramic 16610 1990 so easy to put on a nato.

I finally purchased the Submariner Date I’ve wanted since I was 10.I paid quite a bit but I got the 2009 Rehaut with aluminum bezel in great condition. I was considering diving in the Keys with it but now I’m having second thoughts.Awesome video thanks Eric.

45 years is nothing for a watch! My daily wear Doxa was produced for the German Armed Forces is 1945, and it's still going strong now.

You‘re right, Eric! The Submariner is simply the best!! I bought my no-Date-Steel-Sub two and a half year before, and I never get bored!!! I go diving with that watch, and sometimes my use is a little bit rough, indeed, there are some small scratches in the housing, but that doesn‘t matter: this is a tool watch! And it is the very best!!!!

I just bought a vintage Sub on Friday and I love it, black dial with black bezel all stainless steel.
I have the 116610LN sub bought new from the AD last year, with a busy work life and now no wear to go thanks to beer virus here in the UK it had been in the watch box the past 4 months so I put it on to wear in the garden last weekend and my god this watch is beautiful I couldn’t stop looking at it, so glad I’ve got one.

Nothing like a brand new Rolex Sub gold and steel black dial.. the new max subs are the best ever.. really really nice. The 3135 movement is trojan workhorse.. the subs are made for any occasion they just look badass.. and so rare..
My first Rolex was a submariner I bought almost 30 years ago for $3k. I sold it recently for $9k to purchase the new one with the ceramic bezel. I had it serviced once in all that time and it worked flawlessly. What other anything can you use for almost 30 years and then make triple what you bought it for?

I agree I think it’s the best Rolex overall as it can cover so many bases, dress it down or dress it up its that versatile and let’s not forget like Eric said it’s at a price point where more people can enjoy it! Yea a solid day date is a major player but if you can’t drop 30-40k then it’s out the game..

1) what other model is just as iconic? AP Royal Oak , Cartier tank, JLC Reverso, speedmaster moonwatch,..
2) you can’t travel/go everywhere with it. In some countries walking with a sub is asking to get robbed. A travel agent once told: war ever you do, leave your Rolex at home if you go to (for example) Brazil.
I have visited CRM channel yesterday and I most probably I saw son of Ed Sheeran and Blake Griffin :) BTW sub is true icon and I wonder what changes they gonna bring to this watch besides of upgrading movement.
They may bring down the lug size a tad.

Had two. Did nothing for me. Yes an icon but new supercase too big! Wear the Daytona Panda and a Patek 5296. Now that’s Perfect!

I totally agree, the submariner is my favourite watch of all time. I bought an omega seamaster twenty two years ago because I couldn’t afford a sub. I bought a new stainless sub seven years ago and I love it. Really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work 👍
When I watched your previous video about the Hulk, I was like 'man, I need to get that one, it is so nice, well made and high class.' When I actually get one, it is so amazing and I like it a lot. However, when I see my staff is using one as well, I was thinking maybe it is not that prestige. So, I bought another patek.

No, I just want to say rolex is quite a affordable brand that most people can afford. I prefer something more unique like Patek, so won't have too many people wearing the exact same watch. And no, I don't think, I know he is beneath me coz I am his boss.
Yeah, I know what you mean. Submariner is iconic and lifted Rolex. A bit like Omega with the Man on the Moon (watch). I will add one into the mix one day. Probably a no-date for simplicity OR maybe an all-white gold, blue on blue SMURF. Great video, as usual, makes me want to make a move on my next piece!

I have bought soo many watches now to safely say that the sub is the best I have all variations of the sub but some how never get bored of it and keep coming back. My favorite is the gold with black dial after that the ND..
