I have driven my X1 S-Drive 18d for about 1 and a half months now. Started to notice my engine making a spinning sound, and my gearing is delayed especially when i slow down then it makes a loud noise. Car is brand new, can anyone tell me if this is normal?

the gears on my 23d are so delayed, takes a full 5 seconds to go from drive to reverse. then theres an issue with my interior light randomly turning on while driving? and the amount of chimes is insane

You forgot to mention the bad brakes. 100-0 braking distance is 38.6 meters... the worst in its class ! I read the relative comparative test !
It s a shame... since it s a beautiful car. It has a presence for sure.

I own the ix1 and it’s rapid and quiet. The 20” alloys give an acceptable level of comfort. The range is not the best in class but ok for my needs. Voice control has worked well for me…I don’t miss the rotary iDrive control. It’s way more fun than a Mercedes EQA or Audi Q4.

So far, I’ve been very happy with my X1. I use the shortcut feature to access the start/stop function and others that I want to get to quickly. The personal voice assist takes care of many other functions so, although learning to use the screen and different apps was frustrating at first, once I learned my way around it and the tips and tricks that I learned from watching videos, I find the touchscreen is not an issue overall. Except for the fingerprints on the screen! I don’t like that. So far we’ve been getting about 38 miles to the gallon so we’re happy with that as well. After watching this video, it seems like several of the “problems” were a reach and petty. At least from my experience.

We own 2023 X1 30e x-Drive M-Sport from one and a half years now and here is my honest opinion:
    1. Powertrain - 326 bhp / 5.6 sec 0-100 For a small but not fully electric SUV I think it acceptable. I don’t feel stress that the vehicle is lacking pose or it needs to be at Sport mode all the time.
    2. T.D. - yes it’s a little bit inconvenient, but are they almost all manufactures the same now?
    3. V.S. Of C.C. - the cup holders are not great I agree. I don’t know why on the beck seats they have adapters for cups, but at the front they don’t. Strange decision indeed. The car doesn’t feel cheap, but it need to adapt all the new strict recycling materials regulations (like all of the other brands). I drive the competition and it fell the same or worse.
    4. Voice control - it has been fix with the very first software update, but please don’t expect to be as good as your smartphone assistant.
    5. It depends on the market I believe. Here we have 7 engine options. Fully electric, plug-in, a couple of petrol and diesel engines. Depending of the specifications.
    Transmissions are limited I agree.
    6. Poor fuel economy - this depends on the market, fuel quality and driver really.
    The drag coefficient is 0.26
With no electric charge (my petrol engine) and go between 5-6 or 7 liters per 100km. I drive a diesel one which went 4.5-6 liters.
    7. Yes it can be a bit stiff but depends on the wheels size. If you choose 18” it’s way better, but if you go for the 20” you should expect to feel the road more.
    8. New trend to all new car manufacturers. Some did it better, some worse.
    9. Conclusion - it’s really good all around small premium SUV. It’s quick, efficient, spacious (for its size) fun to drive.
Choose wisely what engine and specification works best for you and you would not be disappointed.
    Thank you for reading

I have owned my X1 S Drive 20i for nearly three months now and overall, I and really pleased with the car; it is refined, comfortable, practical (mostly!), frugal (I average 50MPG on long journeys) a brilliant motorway cruiser, has very proficient handling on country lanes and is happy in town driving too (except occasional hesitation when pulling out of junctions
However, not withstanding the above, I cannot stand and am now beginning to hate what I can only describe as the stupid, impractical design of the centre storage area.
You have to crank your hand in the most awkward way to extract anything from the trays below the floating armrest; the forward tray is difficult, and the rear tray is almost impossible. Even worse is a passenger cannot use the front tray at all, as the support for the floating armrest blocks access to it on that side. I’ve also noticed I have inadvertently scratched the plastic down the side of the floating armrest with my watch, when squeezing my hand down the side to get something out of the trays.
The storage below the armrest lid is pathetic and of really no use at all; even worse, on right hand drive cars like mine, the lid opens in favour of the passenger, as BMW are too tight and/or lazy to re-hand it for the RHD market!
The cupholders (at least those installed in the UK version) do not have sprung lugs to firmly hold a cup, can or bottle that has a smaller diameter than that of the cupholder holes, so they rattle around. I have taken to installing self-adhesive foam around the perimeter of the cupholder in order to mitigate this problem, on a £38k car FFS! My partner’s Hyundai i10 has far better cup holders!
I obviously didn’t note these flaws during the test drive; instead, I was just wooed by the floating armrest and centre controls (which admittedly, work well and are convenient).

Exactly the same issues! I also hate the look of the larger curved screen, and essentially no analog temperature controls. They sold me on the center design saying its good to put a "purse" but it would barely fit a wallet! I put my camera there and I cannot grab it out of there unless I get OUT of my seat and tilt it sideways....

Somewhere agree, touch screen and voice commands are terrible, deactivation stop&go inconvenience at all! BUT! completely disagree with fuel economy! we have this x1 since November 2022 and I can say I’m shocked how fuel efficient this car is, it’s amazing, win a city average is about 8.3-8.7, when cruising on a highway around 125-130 he numbers are around 7-7.2.
The car is roomy, very roomy, it’s actually bigger then x3 2022 inside, harman kardon sound is s as maxing
    Steering is great
Acoustic comfort I’d say 8.5 out of 10
    Strong brakes… huge trunk
Great head light, the app works great 🙏🏼✌🏼👌🏼

Hmm, a bit dissappointed with this walkthroug, especially around engine/transmission: How can you saay that the all electric ix1 for instance lacks power: Or the X1 xdrive30e with over 300 hp !?!
    Which powertrain did you drive??
And the Screen only is valid point, but why do you go through it twice (AC is integrated as well, which was sort of covered in the 1st point)?

Huh on the acceleration? The X1 goes 0-60 in 6.2 seconds and the GLA 250 4matic and GLB 250 4matic are 6.6 and 6.9 seconds. The Audi Q3 takes over 7 seconds. X1 definitely outshines its competitors in terms of acceleration.

Does the loud background "music" help to tell your story? Do we need to be entertained with "music" because the narrator is less than expected. "AutoHell" could review its presentation and make changes so that the "drama" can be verbalized by the narrator and the excellence of the photography. WHY is the "dramatic" "music" played while the narrator is speaking? That makes no sense.

I’ve had my hybrid now for 6 weeks. Still getting to grips with Mission Control (aka touch screen). Finding app whilst driving to change a setting, instead of buttons in my previous BMWs - not the best.
No height adjustment on seatbelt- ends near my neck, controlling it down.
Taken out the spacers for drinks holder - cups and bottle rattle around. Same for door too. No midsection storage that not concealed.
My interior lights come on randomly. Not safe when driving and overtaking on a motorway tonight!!
CarPlay: doesn’t go quiet to dictate/playback a message, no idea why.
Can’t seem to save my driver settings? Eg like where I want heads up display.
These are minor glitches but very annoying.
Performance and fuel efficiency- very good. Fully charged and full tank - 502m today 😊
Overall it looks and performs well. Think mine needs some IT software support 😕

  • @sixmillbaby
    @sixmillbaby ปีที่แล้ว +3

Had my fully loaded x1 for almost 3 months and the overall quality is satisfactory at this price point ($55k out the door); hell some of the soft plastics are nicer than my 2022 M3 that cost 2x! Guessing the base model is a big step down overall…Still don’t love the overcomplicated curved monitor and iDrive 8 but that’s systemic (thankfully my other car has iDrive 7). Agree on the powertrain, transmission (DCT really!) and fuel economy especially if you’re not mixing in highway driving but it’s fine especially in sport mode with manual shifting. Definitively not a 10/10 but it still remains a nice, practical, entry level luxury compact crossover that to me seems like a good value at this price point. Exterior startling is a BIG improvement especially with the M package with shadow line trim.

I have a few issues, firstly the car switches off sometimes when slowing down to a crawl but before I have stopped, foot down and it makes a weird clunking noise. Secondly when demanding quick acceleration from a still position, nothing immediately happens. Way too slow at times on take off. The problem if you are a truck driver is common with Mercedes trucks. Aweful transmission systems slow on the uptake.

I own a 2021 2.0d version and it's brilliant. Didn't want the new one as it's too wide for the garage . And mine returns up to 59mpg on the motorway at 60mpg. Harsh ride comes from buying the M Sport model. I opted for the X line spec and its ideal.

After a month, I have to say the seats are really uncomfortable. The Harmon Kardon stereo is marginal. The sport mode is great but stays in lower gears to long, winding the engine. I do get tired of the screen to do almost everything.

I had the ix1 for 3 months, had to give it back, I couldn't stand the idrive8, touch screen was too frustrating, menu's and sub menus , no physical buttons, lane departure function has to be turned off after every re-start...it defaults to on!!! no idrive controller either. BMW wants you to use voice recognition....sorry, but I do not want to talk to my car!!! Got myself the X3 30e which still uses idrive7 thankfully, much happier with that, also its nice to have an actual engine again and the electric range is plenty for my needs, between 45-50kms

The “problems” here are minor compared to this: When you stop the car while maneuvering to park or go into a narrow space, when you wish to move forward the car has a tendency to lurch forward a foot. Which, in narrow quarters, can be disconcerting at best.

This video is made by a Karen AI…i have the 28i version and is plenty powerful it zooms quickly to 150khp in no time…the touch screen, well hello you’re not in 1992 anymore, you don’t need to change the drive modes every 2 minutes, the start-stop feature you can add a shortcut to the touch-screen takes less then 5 seconds to turn it off…

  • @adamt6380
    @adamt6380 ปีที่แล้ว +6

In my opinion this is one of the worst cars ever made by BMW. It looks amazing, but its terrible quality, ride is horrible (stiff, sounds like it will fall apart running over a pothole), windows have a delay, no real power at all, drive modes don't do anything except change the gearing, autostop turns off the engine before the car comes to a complete rest. For something that costs $60k, it completely missed the mark and its clear that they cut so many corners. After just 1 month I was already trying to return it and will be as soon as possible. I would highly recommend looking at another car.

The inside of this car is designed very poorly I almost got into an accident trying to access my stop and start button and not to mention my navigation has stopped working it stays on the loading screen lack of power and the high price just does not make sense at all this car isn’t even practical. Tomorrow I am going to trade it in for a 2019 440i M performance. Stay away from this vehicle
