Lowering the bar quickly has helped me a lot. But it's frowned upon at my gym. I can do a fast descent if I use the rubber blocks which raise the bar several inches off the floor...neither way seems ideal. Should I go with slow lowering, or fast but at a reduced range of motion?
Can you use some rubber blocks under your feet too?
Depends on how much you're lifting. To me, if you're deadlifting more than 225/315, find a gym that has proper equipment. A good gym should have deadlifting platforms, allow chaulk, and have texas /etc bars.
