If I may share a very personal view, this "nostalgic" review (both the rig, and the style of it), reminded me why I started following this channel. I loved watching you concisely go through the specs on the bench and, afterwards, put each feature - and the whole rig- to the test. This was very interesting as it was done in very technical, and (eventually) familiar spots with detail voiceover impressions on its driving characteristics. I enjoyed viewing the rig taken to its limits on locations where we had references from previous vids, enabling the viewer to compare and make our own assumptions on how well each tested rig fared against similar trucks. And it felt like a celebration whenever you made comparison tests! I feel somewhere along these past two years of being a subscriber, I started missing this type of reviews. Maybe because you grew into other types of RCing, which is fine. But to me, this will always be your bread and butter, and I hope you keep doing this, predominantly, as it's SO GOOD to watch! Thanks for reading, and for putting this video together that reminded me of it. Just my $0.02!
I just picked up a used Gladiator 10iii. Running a hobbywing 1080, Reedy 5-slot 16t (12t pinion), 9imod 35kg servo, TR-4 micros, with a GT5 6 channel radio. I just used what I had on the shelf, and I've been amazed at how smooth and capable it is.
Never owned a crawler... This video while being informative it is just as calming. And I love the tempo and how refreshing the overall presentation and production

Those of you who have these trucks don't forget to pick up a clipless latch system so you can throw those body clips in the bin! Body on and off in seconds! Be sure to check out my Etsy listings for the clipless latch system for the SCX10.3 Jeep and Gladiator! Can also find them on my TH-cam Channel. I’ve got a Reefs front servo & a Reefs 99 dig servo the original went out the first time I used it. It has a bunch of upgrades but the esc & motor remain the original. I’m thinking of replacing them. I have a Mamba & Holmes Hobbies Stubby I may use in it but I don’t have any major issues with the stock stuff. Yes those other combos are better but the low speed modulation isn’t that bad & that’s where you really have to have good modulation & drag brake. One my favorites in our collection too. Run ours with just a few bits of brass, some nice beadlocks with a set of canyon trails and it is a rock solid rig. Nice video!
This update was just in time. 8 got a Gladiator for Xmas. It was on my wish list because of you recommendations. I'm 5 days in and loving it. Fusion Pro, beadlocks, fender mod, skids, and 2 speed coming soon. I'll do a video soon.
Love my jlu kit. I wonder what I would have picked if the jt was also a kit… my jlu is still all stock with the freedom of using my own electronics after a year of abuse.
That’s more like it! I locked mine out in 2nd gear and it actually still crawls pretty slow bone stock. Have to upgrade the dig servo for sure they die right away. Agree on the tires, these are impressive stock! And of course get rid of those body clips! Clipless body latches all the way (find those on my channel for those who are interested).
I’m all about the slow crawl and don’t do any bashing with my crawlers, so I haven’t had any issues with the speed on this truck no matter what battery I’m using. It’s a fantastic rig. 👍✌️
I competed in a class 1 crawl with a 2021 bronco all stock and blew one of these out of the water. The length helps uphill, but turning on a course is not so good. Most comp crawls say no dig also. For me, my bronco is where it's at.
I’m on my 2nd SCX10-3 Gladiator. 1st one was terrible. It horrible torque twist. Just would not climb. The dig servo failed first time I used it. I did the straight axle upgrade. Just didn’t like it. So I sold it. I ended up buying a used one off of eBay for a decent price. The person custom painted the body. Install aftermarket bumpers. Looks good. I put a set of Hyrax tires on it. Put a little bit of weight in the front rims. For some reason this one works better than the first one. Got me.
i've always been very impressed with every axial product i own. i went over a year with my scx6 and only had to replace servo (took awhile, but expected), a couple inner wheel parts and a hex. my scx10ii had held up to some serious abuse from my 5 year old nephew, and well... its kinda hard to break the scx24 but maybe if it falls off a cliff or something haha
Going to get a new ride but unfortunately I can’t make my mind up. Watch your videos as much as I can, most informative in my opinion. If you didn’t have a crawler and was in the market to buy one which one would you pick? I knew a new crawler would be out soon. Makes me want to wait and see what it’s about too.
I just stepped into it after playing with vintage buggies for awhile and the SCX10.2 was the best bang for buck. The 10.3 is sweet (seeing portal axles on scale stuff that shouldnt have it to begin with just feel odd to look at) and all but the 10.2 has more scale with its straight axles plus you could always throw a 2 speed into it in the future. I really enjoy mine and the aftermarket is huge for them, while being able to retain scale. leafspring kits are out there too for them. But again its what you want to run, more something towards your specific taste or just get an rtr and get out there and have fun
@@sqweezzstr I’m driven towards kits due to the enjoyment of putting everything together. I picked the HPI SBK two years ago as my first 1/10 scale. Love the truck and it’s crawling ability. Only real flaw is the aftermarket supply obviously. If only they made base camp in a kit!
Thank you for all the GREAT videos. Some friends and I are just starting to get into the rc world and would LOVE to see a video of which crawlers you would suggest for newbies. I would love to see what you think is the best for someone who wants to run straight out of the box and which one you think is best for someone who might be into upgrading. You may already have a video like this but I have not seen it yet. But thanks for all the great content.
Great update video Francess, what's this new vehicle coming out your referring to? Are you talking about the Mashigan? Unfortunately, I heard they stopped production of it, and they no longer even have it listed in there website ' most likely due to licensing ' issues with Jeep ...Happy New Year
Noice video. I'm tossed.. trx4? Trx4m? Scx10 iii? Basecamp? Mod or not to mod? Lol They all seem to have their quirks and features! Where in norcal are you? I'm in Tracy
It makes me wonder if you used a Firma or Hobbywing 2n1 if you could just use the rx part of the stock esc. Remove the battery leads off of the stock esc/rx and plug the new Fusion Pro or Firma 2n1 foc into the steering channel. Would the stock esc/rx just use the rx part of it when it receives power through the steering channel? Might be something interesting to try.
I have a question.. by the way love the show.. I just got mine gladiator and I've been loving it.. by I see that underneath the shocks. It looks likes it leaking. I thought it was the sand. But it looks oily. Please help. I haven't dropped it or ru it hard. But under the axial looks like oil
The previous upload was only 6 minutes long. Should have been 13 minutes so had to re-upload

One my favorites in our collection too. Run ours with just a few bits of brass, some nice beadlocks with a set of canyon trails and it is a rock solid rig. Nice video!
A little brass and some baller wheels and tires will do magic for this.
Lovely vehicle, I recommend getting the SCX10.3 Wrangler kit. A lot of fun building and driving. It's a bit loud, but it looks so cool.
Groundbreaking look!

Fusion Pro is a great idea. Simple install and this old system can go in another vehicle.
Love your reviews!! Steep slow crawling is so fun! Keep up the good work. Love your test locations!! Wish I had something like this in my area.
Me too, where is this test location? lol Thx!
Nice and interesting review 😉I am going to get the SCX10.3 Gladiatior soon ! Happy New Year 🎉 Cheers
They are probably one of the best rcs!
They learned from the JLU Wrangler and tuned the shocks on this very well. So good box stock.
Love my jlu kit. I wonder what I would have picked if the jt was also a kit… my jlu is still all stock with the freedom of using my own electronics after a year of abuse.

Yup. If one is just into slow crawl, stock speed is perfect.
I have a SCX10 III JLU kit still in the box. I won it from Proline in November 2021. Hopefully I'll build it one day. 🤣

I used a GT5 and use the dig and high speed. Finding the servo horns were the issue. Builders kit only gives you one.

Just ordered this unit cant wait
The dig servo burnt out on me maybe my third or fourth use. Other than that, it's most certainly my favorite trail truck by far.

It’s end points for channel 3. I’ll post a link to the video. Hidden programming mode
