    My dad retired from delta as a 757 line check airman. I know how professional those pilots are. He described it as hours of boredom with unexpected excitement, and always preparing for that unexpected. He truly loved to fly. When he was terminally ill with cancer, we went flying in his piper and did touch and gos on a breezy day, and the joy was evident in him. After being depressed for months, he was laughing and smiling.It makes me miss my dad hearing cockpit conversations, especially when they are going over what they will do on a missed approach.
    I got into air traffic control in military due to my dad. God keep all the pilots safe.

      God bless you. I love and miss that world and was lucky enough to be part of it due to my husbands dream. It was in him since he was a little boy. I know that kinda of joy that only being aloft can bring to them. Thanks for the lovely memory.

      Your dad sounds like he had a happy career. I too enjoyed my time flying for Delta. Stay well, you'll make him proud.

    Approaching minimums, what timing! I may be mistaken but that is about as close as you can get to clearly identifying the runway, turning off the auto pilot and landing the plane (not going around), all within 200 feet on an ILS approach. Add the fact that we are talking about LaGuardia which is no picnic on a clear sunny day, you add pouring rain which starts to let up right before the plane is reaching minimums, but the captain had glimpses of the runway lights when they were at around 1000 feet, BUT the distraction of all the other city lights made it clear, these men knew that approach well. That was an Absolute masterpiece!

    • @MTAviationPhotoFilm
      @MTAviationPhotoFilm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In this case that is correct. I talked to my friend who flies the 737 for details since avionics type things have never been my area of expertise. He said, even though the 737 is Cat III/ auto land, meaning minimums of 50 feet or less, LaGuardia's runway 4 is only Cat I capable so 200ft would have been the minimum DH in this particular video and instance

    First of all....Nice landing. 2nd. I will just keep my VFR rating if you don't mind. Many Kutos to the pilot on this one. I will just be in the rear with the gear. VFR means I get to fly. IFR means......YOU HAVE TO. Again...Nice job!!

    They ought to put wind turbines just behind airport runways to make use of all the wind planes create when they take off

    • @joeeckley5272
      @joeeckley5272 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The reason they don't; is, nobody uses lunar wane shafts anymore...gyroscopically reciprocating low-influx shafts are so much more efficient, especially when paired with hydrogravitational parabolic carpel struts (preferably the 1.21-gigawatt type) in order to prevent loss of inverse static torsion in the flux capacitor through excessive tachyon vibrations.

    • @MTAviationPhotoFilm
      @MTAviationPhotoFilm  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the wind turbine was close enough to use the thrust generated by an aircraft engine it would be directly in the approach path and planes would hit it

      Basing it off the road with a bunch of cars to the right shortly after the runway is in sight I am going with runway 4

    • @loralee4779
      @loralee4779 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm pretty sure that was the expressway visual approach, so that would be 4.....or could it be 13?

    • @MTAviationPhotoFilm
      @MTAviationPhotoFilm  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@loralee4779 Expressway visual is for 31, this is runway 4 as stated in the previous comment. Secondly, this is clearly not a visual approach so even if it was rnwy 31, it wouldnt be using the expressway visual, it would be using one the ILS or rnav approach paths to intercept the glideslope & loc.

    • @h4runx
      @h4runx ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Indeed, the Autopilot does not have a role of thinking, reasoning and decision-making. It executes the pilots' instructions and directions.
