  • **REVIEW: HALO wheels**
Derby Warehouse hooked me up with a few wheels to test and this is my unbiased review of Halos.
Rink Surface: Outdoor coated concrete. Very grippy finish yet smooth and can be slippery. It’s a tricky surface because it takes hard wheels to get good slide on this rink (97A+) but even my go-to hybrids struggle to hang onto the turns during fast laps.
I’ve been looking for a fast wheel with precise edging and responsive grip. I’ve also been looking for an extra 2 hours of sleep and underwear that understands I’m a woman who moves like a spider monkey.
Good news, I found the wheel.
    __Halo wheels by RADAR__
Specs: 97A durometer, 59mm x 38mm (mint green hub, charcoal gray tire)
Ride: So smooth. It was the first thing I noticed, just a silky glide and a whispery swisssh on crossovers.
Handling: The wheels corner beautifully, full surface traction for optimum power without drift. In the turn at speed, I was pushing the threshold of grip, a little this or that and slip is possible, but I’m in control and it sticks coming out of the apex crossover. Lateral slide is there on demand. On, off. Control freaks, this is your jam.
Edging is so precise I had to adjust for it. The responsiveness is amazing. Maybe I hit that power stop too hot, too late, and it’s all going to end in fire, but no, these wheels can bite down hard, fast, and save me from myself. Probably. No wheel is magic. These are very good at doing what they’re told.
Other Notes: Very light (70g). Fans of Presto wheels will like that Halos use the same neothane. If you’re interested in the science behind this wheel’s performance, read up on the Halo’s unique drop-center hub.
    Conclusion: 5/5 💀💀💀💀💀

We used to get in trouble at the rink. My buddy was a speed champion( Tracy Lindsey ) and he say follow me and watch how I do it and you do it. Come around the first turn in the back
Wooooorrrrkkkkkk! Then we play it off go a few laps and do it again. Finally they would watch real good n catch us tell us to stop. Be tellin Tracy he knows better. We were runnin heavy ball open precision bearings industrial type with graphite and the old school wide white lightnins.

No break-in is required. They do come with treading--it made no noticeable difference in performance than when the tires are smooth. Treading doesn't make much of a difference in grip except for the short time that your wheels haven't heated up. Typically my warm up is more than adequate to heat up the urethane, e.g. sticky skating with all wheels in contact with the surface (bubbles/swizzles/lemons) and plows.
