What kind of wheels was it? What rating on soft/hardness.. Mines are 82a and according to her rating those are hybrid.. barely lol. So im debating whether to take my skates inside or not.
@@Claudia-tb3dy In my experience, if you use a wheel with a hardness rating of less than 92A, you are going to expend a lot of energy at getting around the floor on indoor rinks.

I’m definitely a wheel girl. I change wheels like underwear. I have a wheel for each activity. I don’t care how expensive they are. I have outdoor pulse wheels and in my neighborhood street is virtually rock so it sucks. My luminous wheels are hybrid and I love them but they still are kind of sticky indoors as I am a beginner.
But pulse and luminous are very cheap lol. I've paid over $130 for my phenolics the one way to the right. I'll be paying over $250 for some SCs with aluminum hubs . Then throw in $150 swiss ceramics bearings
I'm not a beginner but I'm buying my first pair of rink skates soon (had an outdoor pair when i worked at sonic) and this dirty school channel is helping me a lot! Thanks Debra!

so good video! I changed my wheels on typical outdoor wheels (78 A) and i didn't know why i couldn't do some tricks as easy as i did before. I was frustrating and i stooped skateing for some time. Now i know the reason. Thank U so much!

When websites have huge swaths of wheels listed, it can definitely be hard to know where to start, so thank you! Out of curiosity, what is the hardness/material of the average rental skate wheel?
I am so happy I found this. I was so concerned about all the sliding I do at my local rink. My skates came with 96A and they are tooooo slippery. I think I need to go down to 88A until I get better. I have 78A already for outdoors.

Now with this quarantine I decided to get back in the game & purchase a pair of Bullet low rise speed skates than realized the wheels weren't intended for outdoor use! I’ve been skating on an 82A that my Candi Girl skates came with for starter skates and I LOVE them! I’m on almost month three of skating I use them at the skate park, at the rink, on trails, and it’s so true they may not be the fastest but they’re so perfect for now 👌🏼
If I could only have one wheel, it would be my 84a hybrids. It happens that I don’t, as I’m a wheel nut and a rink rat as well as a street skater, and love hard wheels inside. But they really are the perfect middle ground!
I am 5 months into this and I now have 2 pair of skates and 4 sets of wheels. I have only skated outside 1 time on my Road Hog wheels. Just bought knee wrist and head protection. Thanks for this! When I skated in my youth I had wood wheels too.
I started roller skating around 1970 or so. I don't remember all the numbers being used back then. When I started taking dance lessons I ordered new wheels because mine were a bit slippery for the edges needed when dancing with mum partner. I asked my instructor what kind I needed and he order new wheels that were in my price range. They worked much better. I have not skated for over 40 years now and am buying new skates soon. Can't wait to get them to hit the rink and the outdoor park in my area. I thank you for explaining the different types of wheels and the number system used. Now I can make a better informed purchase. i love you so much! im 28 and during this shite isolation period i realised how boring walking is, and how much i miss skating when i was a kid and then i found you and Indi Jamma Jones and youve inspired me so much! So im gunna invest in my first pair, probably a Rookie (I live in the London, Uk) and get practising so when the isolation ban is lifted i can join the London roller disco scene! maybe even the roller derby ;) IM SO EXCITED.
I think it's so funny that you put out this video as I got my first set of indoor wheels in the mail today! (Sure Grip Fame wheels) I had been skating on Sure Grip Aerobic Hybrid wheels for the past 7 months and LOVE them, but as you said, I was getting frustrated with my lack of speed and difficulty turning smoothly while on the rink as opposed to being outside!!! Can't wait to try out these babies at the rink, it was time to graduate!!! 😀🥳

felt wheel differences from riding different skates at my local rink, but this video really helped me UNDERSTAND it. I used to skateboard, and it wasn’t a tangible concept to me back then. Now getting back into roller skating; yeah it’s extremely important! Thanks for the clear and FUN explanation!

Don't rinks check to see if wheels have been used outdoors? Seems like wheels that have rolled outside frequently, might inflict more wear on that nice rink floor.
I’ve been using Speed skate wheels for so long at my skating ring, and I’ve constantly been struggling with spins and transitions, I’ve always thought it was my wheels but watching this video really made me realize it is my wheels (I’m a man btw lol). But in all honesty using speed skates while working on transitions made me a bit more technical with my footwork because of how much they grip the floor. I really appreciate your videos!!!!

Even dance skated in Newport and Venice Beach in the mid 80's. Want to dust off the skills and get back into dancing on my skates as long as I don't bust my _______. Holy cow. The internet never fails to impress. Since the early 90s I've skates in my low cut Carreras with 67mm speed wheels. And I shuffle skate! Now I get why I had to power so hard in the shuffling since the wheels held so much resistance unless I was going hella fast!

I've quickly outgrown the skates I bought on the fly, I fell deeply back in love and Im learning everything about who I am and what I really need in my skatelife. I unfortunately got my moxi right when covid came so I've made a hole in my garage for practice got a pair for my 7 year old boy as well and luckily have access to his elementary school all to myself, but when I hit the roads and parking lots the rumble hits my bones so hard, I get nervous and kiss that gravel hard. On the other hand I am also creative in my movement, dance and freestyling footwork and love to get some speed..... wheels bearings and adjustments what to buy!!!!??!
Okay ... outdoor set-up ... I like the SureGrip Gravity, Motion or Boardwalk wheels. The bearings I like for outdoors are the Qube Teal in 8mm size. You can get these at planetrollerskate.shop.

I skate indoor and outdoors and have have so much fun on both terrains. However my question is how do I know when my wheels are to far gone or used to keep using. I love your videos❤
I bought some old Riedell roller skates at a vintage shop and the wheels were pretty worn in but I decided to just roll with it lol I’ve been skating for a couple weeks now (outdoors only) and I kept wondering why my wheels got stuck to tiniest of rocks & cracks!? I was telling myself that it’s just me because I’m new but then I thought that wheels actually do matter so... that’s what lead me here, this was very informative thank you so much! I just ordered some new outdoor wheels & tools!!
I had them big ol outdoor wheels on my skates for years. I recently got some roll line dance wheels. And oh my goodness my turns are so much better. I was over here trying to do a three turn into a one foot spin and just couldn’t do it. Got my new wheels and bam! Got it 🙌🏽🙌🏽. I was so happy when I turned like 3 times around. 🤯🤯🤯
@Dirty I've been binge watching your videos every since I found you and they are extremely helpful, encouragingand fun. I taught myself to skate over 30 years ago and now I want to take it to the next level and really get into it. I just bought a pair of $95 Roller Derbys with an Indoor/Outdoor wheel thinking they'd still be good on the inside polished wood rink. They are polyurethane and the description says they're good indoor or outdoor Well..... let's just say I felt like I was glued to the floor and I didn't know why until now. Turning was not even an option on these wheels inside. Thank for your insight. I just put a set of 98As in my amazon cart.
I have been bingewatching all your videos!!! I love the way you teach and it makes it so much fun. I do feel bad about skating though. Im 19 and never had a roller skate before even though i love them. On my country, we are kinda poor so we dont really have options to choose from, or places to go practice, or change the wheels and stuff like that. So, i will be starting next week because im finally getting a nice pair (its also a kinda cheap one, theres not really good ones here even if I could afford it) but i have only ever seen the wheels of 10:49 and the outdoors ones once. I really want to practice and get good, and eventually do outdoors (as here there isnt really a lot of indoors places that allow skates either) so if you could drop any advice for me using those wheels as a starter from zero, i would really appreciate it!! I of course already watched all your videos on how to skate for beginners, so at least im experienced in watching... i guess... anyways, thank you so much for these videos! i love you so much! im 28 and during this shite isolation period i realised how boring walking is, and how much i miss skating when i was a kid and then i found you and Indi Jamma Jones and youve inspired me so much! So im gunna invest in my first pair, probably a Rookie (I live in the London, Uk) and get practising so when the isolation ban is lifted i can join the London roller disco scene! maybe even the roller derby ;) IM SO EXCITED.

I think it's so funny that you put out this video as I got my first set of indoor wheels in the mail today! (Sure Grip Fame wheels) I had been skating on Sure Grip Aerobic Hybrid wheels for the past 7 months and LOVE them, but as you said, I was getting frustrated with my lack of speed and difficulty turning smoothly while on the rink as opposed to being outside!!! Can't wait to try out these babies at the rink, it was time to graduate!!! 😀🥳

This explains so much. Was doing fine at the rink but having trouble at the park. I was planning to skate the Long Beach harbor but now I know I need outdoor wheels. Your vids are awesome
felt wheel differences from riding different skates at my local rink, but this video really helped me UNDERSTAND it. I used to skateboard, and it wasn’t a tangible concept to me back then. Now getting back into roller skating; yeah it’s extremely important!

@@smokeythebear3690 outdoors! i'm using the wheels that came with my Impala skates, which are pretty gummy and work pretty well for outdoor skating in my experience

Don't rinks check to see if wheels have been used outdoors? Seems like wheels that have rolled outside frequently, might inflict more wear on that nice rink floor.
I’ve been using Speed skate wheels for so long at my skating ring, and I’ve constantly been struggling with spins and transitions, I’ve always thought it was my wheels but watching this video really made me realize it is my wheels (I’m a man btw lol). But in all honesty using speed skates while working on transitions made me a bit more technical with my footwork because of how much they grip the floor.

You are a CHARACTER!! I'm getting back into outdoor skating here in Morro Bay (up the coast from you). Grew up on skates in the Bay Area. Even dance skated in Newport and Venice Beach in the mid 80's. Want to dust off the skills and get back into dancing on my skates as long as I don't bust my _______. Holy cow. The internet never fails to impress. Since the early 90s I've skates in my low cut Carreras with 67mm speed wheels. And I shuffle skate! Now I get why I had to power so hard in the shuffling since the wheels held so much resistance unless I was going hella fast!

I've quickly outgrown the skates I bought on the fly, I fell deeply back in love and Im learning everything about who I am and what I really need in my skatelife. I unfortunately got my moxi right when covid came so I've made a hole in my garage for practice got a pair for my 7 year old boy as well and luckily have access to his elementary school all to myself, but when I hit the roads and parking lots the rumble hits my bones so hard, I get nervous and kiss that gravel hard. On the other hand I am also creative in my movement, dance and freestyling footwork and love to get some speed..... wheels bearings and adjustments what to buy!!!!??!
Okay ... outdoor set-up ... I like the SureGrip Gravity, Motion or Boardwalk wheels. The bearings I like for outdoors are the Qube Teal in 8mm size. You can get these at planetrollerskate.shop.

This helped me so much! I've been skating outside a bunch thanks to "social distancing" but I'm in Colorado so the snow will be here soon, relegating me to skating in my hallway... so I ordered a new set of indoor wheels. But sounds like I need a third set of harder wheels too! I'm hoping I'll go back to your videos and find one just on bearings so I'll be better informed when I buy my next set. Keep on keepin' on!

Hey Deborah 👋🏿 I have recently change my wheels from the original outdoor wheels that came with the Candigirl's skates to some hybrid wheels. I skate indoor and outdoors and have have so much fun on both terrains. However my question is how do I know when my wheels are to far gone or used to keep using. I love your videos❤
It is so difficult to wear out a set of wheels. Realistically ... you know when you need new wheels? When you want a different color :)

I bought some old Riedell roller skates at a vintage shop and the wheels were pretty worn in but I decided to just roll with it lol I’ve been skating for a couple weeks now (outdoors only) and I kept wondering why my wheels got stuck to tiniest of rocks & cracks!? I was telling myself that it’s just me because I’m new but then I thought that wheels actually do matter so... that’s what lead me here, this was very informative thank you so much! I just ordered some new outdoor wheels & tools!!
I had them big ol outdoor wheels on my skates for years. I recently got some roll line dance wheels. And oh my goodness my turns are so much better. I was over here trying to do a three turn into a one foot spin and just couldn’t do it. Got my new wheels and bam! Got it 🙌🏽🙌🏽. I was so happy when I turned like 3 times around. 🤯🤯🤯

@Dirty I've been binge watching your videos every since I found you and they are extremely helpful, encouragingand fun. I taught myself to skate over 30 years ago and now I want to take it to the next level and really get into it. I just bought a pair of $95 Roller Derbys with an Indoor/Outdoor wheel thinking they'd still be good on the inside polished wood rink. They are polyurethane and the description says they're good indoor or outdoor Well..... let's just say I felt like I was glued to the floor and I didn't know why until now. Turning was not even an option on these wheels inside. Thank for your insight. I just put a set of 98As in my amazon cart.

I have been bingewatching all your videos!!! I love the way you teach and it makes it so much fun. I do feel bad about skating though. Im 19 and never had a roller skate before even though i love them. On my country, we are kinda poor so we dont really have options to choose from, or places to go practice, or change the wheels and stuff like that. So, i will be starting next week because im finally getting a nice pair (its also a kinda cheap one, theres not really good ones here even if I could afford it) but i have only ever seen the wheels of 10:49 and the outdoors ones once. I really want to practice and get good, and eventually do outdoors (as here there isnt really a lot of indoors places that allow skates either) so if you could drop any advice for me using those wheels as a starter from zero, i would really appreciate it!! I of course already watched all your videos on how to skate for beginners, so at least im experienced in watching... i guess... anyways, thank you so much for these videos! Definitely my fav person to watch when it comes to roller skating❤ (oh and also i could order a pair online i know, but here A LOT of stuff doesn't really arrive, someone just steals it :c so im not brave enough) thank you if you read this and if not then thats okay too :) greetings from Paraguay!!
