It's been 4 years you started to modding Snow No the details were lesser level doesn't have custom objects or user-made entries and we don't have more knowledge about crash 2 engine and PSX itself. But this year we know lots of things on crash 2 and modding community may be growing. Your modded level is pretty nice details and I like it. We have a bunch of tools that it can help for modding and thank god we have pcsx-hdbg that you can run a script and you can take from mdude debug script for crash 1/2 it has good features like an example to see what it loads entries or what it requires for loading the entry. The only thing challenging is crash 2 engine limit and you have to deal with load list and sorting the entries to chunks.
Aversatrix, the Red Gem Box was awesome! Great idea! It's a same thing in Crash Bandicoot 1 N. Sane Trilogy like where you get the colored gem crates without dying.
There are those that complain about how hard Crash 1 NST time trials are hard, and there are those that are speed running Snow No and getting both gems in the same run.. Then there is YouTubby’s auto generated captions adding [Applause], [Music], and “so” to this video.
I think your work is super cool and it all looks great. My one big criticism is that your level design doesn't always seem purposeful. Crates seem almost randomly strewn about in places. And why did you restore the 10 bounce wumpa crate as a new crate separate from the 5 bounce version u introduced in Warped? The crates give the same amount of fruit, so having to do the extra 5 bounces servers no real gameplay purpose and is just a wast of the player's time, isnt it?
Often its a bit of time waste, yes. In some spots it is useful though, its like a wooden arrow crate of sorts, but with limited bounces. I liked the c2's 10-bounce fruit crate and when we decided to make the fruit crate 5-bounce, i figured it would be cool to have the reinforced fruit crate still be 10-bounce. The placement is a bit purposeless in certain areas, yeah. I tend to overdo placement cuz i feel like no part of a level should be empty. Also the game has sort of a limit on object count (approx 1015) that for some reason i decided I want to hit and using a trick even surpass. So the goal to make the level as long and as stuffed kind of fights with the goal to make the level playable.
Pls reply dude. It's possible to make the Snow No custom segment longer and add crates on it? It's the first real custom level that has been made after Level 0 (The Great Gate)
if you guys have the skills to make new levels, i think you should try future tense on the original crash 3 is there a rom of crash 3 that we can do nss? like a simple rom that we only difference is that we can do nss. if there's not a rom but you know a way to do it, teach us; and if there's a rom with nss, could you pass to me? and how do you put new music in the game? i always wanted to know if it is possible to use the pre-console version
Idk anything about music. I have a rom with C3 nss but its still buggy and kinda underwhelming with the game being half vehicles, half platforming, I'm gonna release it some day but i got other stuff on my hands rn. Future tense is not really viable as the tools that are used for the custom segment are still wip and the person that has them has to tweak a lot of stuff to make the tools spit out proper game files.
Fun fact: I don't know the actual max box count anymore. I'll make it 5-10 less than what the tool say is the max and if you get more you get the gem. No use in torturing the player, if they went and took 99% of the crates they deserve the gem. But some poor soul is gonna get into the "one box missing" situation anyway.
I love the mod, but I don't really like some of the new boxes... POW crates for example but it's just me 😂 I'm a classic lover, not really for the innovations on a classic game

If you die in level, it turns the colored gem box into a iron box meaning you won't get the colored gem.
It's really nice and I'm excited for the release of the modpack but could you include the custom songs from the levels pls!?

Yes, even PS1 maybe, but ps1 would lag like a mf.
I used to test on PS2 before but the emu I use is good enough and I don't have to burn tons of CDs.

Yea, but i dont really want crates in there, its meant to be a gem route. It has been made longer, it just wasnt added in-game yet.
