      I feel it, crossovers have proven to be the swiss army knife of vehicles, and most people like the higher seating position, larger/taller cargo space, and some ground clearance for snow or dirt roads. Now they commonly have hybrids that get 30+ mpg. It's hard for the sedan to compete in the family car segment anymore. I'm saying this as someone that's having kids soon and want to sell my access cab Tacoma for something like the IS500 BUT only if it still has the v8 to feed the small bit of car ego I still have in my 30's. My wife will keep having a bigger crossover for family hauling and snow driving on vacations to the mountains.

      Probably a bad idea, or maybe they are strategizing for a future comeback when the market is more accepting. I think without an LS, and possibly the LX, it will cease to be a luxury brand for the opulent as the other cars in the lineup won't be as big (space wise and road presence).

      I don't know what I'm going to do when I tire of my 2015 GS 350 F-Sport AWD.... It's a great car and I was really hoping they'd create a new generation. I blame all this swoopy spaceship "elegant" design language on the brand's decline. It's just not my thing, and it seems many agree with me. I prefer the more butch look of my GS to any current Lexus product. I literally chose a 2015 model over the refreshed design of the 2016 model with all it's safety and tech updates because I can't stand the aggressively straked and feminized spindle grilles.

      @@Venomoustoxins2122it's actually not. If you've owned one you'd understand. Its the same reason camry does so well. It just does what is supposed to do very well affordably. The es IS luxury to the average buyer they just don't need the LS.. especially if they test drive the es first. Honestly only a very discerning buyer would know the difference and at that point they probably would forego Lexus altogether. Cuz the LS has now fallen behind the other ultra lux barges.

    The LS should remain, I believe many would want if it went back to a more conservative design. LS should be a V-8 too, Hybrid too?

    • @Marc-King777
      @Marc-King777 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don't know. The last gen LS was certainly conservative in its design but that one didn't really sell well either. I think the problem is twofold. First, sedans across the board just don't appeal to consumers anymore. And this decline has been going on since the previous gen LS. Plus, within this segment, the Germans have caught up, and in some ways, like with tech, have surpassed the LS. Seems that with each new generation, the LS loses more and more of its identity and what made it special when it first debuted.

  • @Pilar-ek8nx
    @Pilar-ek8nx 17 วันที่ผ่านมา +11

    I know its not Lexus to do this but would be nice if they had an option to include the 5.0L V8 that its in the LC 500 and still have a lower eng option for the TT 3.5 v6 and maybe still offer the hybrid version and have 3 eng options. OR kill the 3.5 non hybrid and only offer a 5.0L V8 & a the hybrid. The tt v6 is smooth and does the job but the feel isnt there. Like you said, we're talking about an LS, those who buy these cars may have in mind the price but its on not on the top if their priority cause it will still be cheaper than a 7 series, S class & A8. so Offer a NA 5.0 V8, price it accordingly but spare no expense on the flagship. LS used to be my favorite Lexus. I had 3 ('00 LS400, 07 Ls460 & 15 LS460).

    In 1989, the style went from 89-2000 LS400
    From 2000-2004 LS430
    From 2007-2017 LS460
    So it could take up 10 years for a real refresh for the 500
    LS500 from 2018-Present
    So if nothing changes in another 3-4 years. Then maybe it’s the end game. But look at the stats it usually 10 years before a change of the LS.

It’s like Toyota corporate wants to spend as less as possible to keep the brand going at this point especially the same Toyota 4 banger hybrids only unless it’s the LX. The current Lexus LS has been a major flop for Lexus, for a variety of reasons, but the main reason is they aimed too low, were too conservative with their goals for the LS. It's look is fetching enough, but in every other tangible, it falls short of what the luxury flagship market demands. It's tech and user IP are old and outdated. The interior is smaller than ever before, and the engine is a victim of cost-cutting.
    At least they are asking a fair price for it, but demand for these kinds of sedans is fading fast, so you either give the market what they want, which is the ultimate modern luxury sedan, or you're off the shopping list
